I haven't been perfect, but I apply the Seinfeld rule and it works for me.

Sometimes I read 30 pages to catch up and get ahead. 

Why?
Because big change doesn’t come from pressure.
It comes from structure, repetition, and self-trust.

Computer programming used to be women's work.

Then men realized computers were big money.

Women make up just 29% of the US tech force today.
We are a paltry 5% of CTOs & a minority of AI engineers.
But it wasn't always that way.

In the 1960s, when companies realized there was big money in computers, they systematically pushed women out.

A few months ago, a dad messaged me that he uses my posts to help his daughter learn how to better navigate in the patriarchy.

As a woman working in AI, I think about this daily.
I am a female VP in tech sales working on an AI product.
I am, by all measures in which you slice it, an anomaly.

I wrote every single word of this post is for her.

Automatic thinking patterns that warp your reality. 

They're sneaky, common, and they keep you stuck.

Here are 12 to watch for and how to stay safe from them:

1/ Mind reading 
❌ Assuming you know what others are thinking/feeling 
✅ Ask directly instead of guessing what's in someone's head

2/ Negative focus 
❌ Ignoring positive aspects & only seeing negative ones 
✅ Write down three things that went well today before bed

3/ Catastrophizing 
❌ Expecting the worst case scenario to happen to you 
✅ Ask yourself what's most likely to happen, not what's most dramatic

4/ Labeling 
❌ Labeling yourself or someone negatively 
✅ Replace labels with specific behaviors you can actually change over time

5/ Should-thinking 
❌ Having rigid rules or "shoulds" about things or people
✅ Replace "should" with "could" to open up more possibilities for yourself

6/ Overgeneralizing 
❌ Believing a single negative event is a pattern 
✅ Look for exceptions and times when the opposite was true

7/ Emotional reasoning 
❌ Believing that how you feel is equal to reality 
✅ Separate your feelings from facts and look for objective evidence

❌ Thinking the future is set & you know what it is 
✅ Remind yourself that you can't predict the future with certainty

✅ Ask yourself what's actually within your control and what isn't

❌ Being certain you are right & your opinion is the truth 
✅ Get curious about other perspectives and stay open to being wrong

✅ Accept that life isn't always fair and focus on what you can influence
