Everyone is stuck debating whether AI will take their job. The answer is almost certainly yes (I know, I know - it’s terrifying). That part isn’t interesting anymore.
The more important question is this: What if this is also the biggest opportunity of your career?

There’s a short window to get radically ahead by going AI-native. But you need to act now. Not in five years. In the next few months. After that, it will just becomes table stakes and the edge disappears.

Because AI isn’t taking your job. Being complacent about what's happening around you will.

But what I keep seeing instead: people critiquing AI. Pointing out flaws. Mocking outputs. Arguing about em dashes.

That mindset is already obsolete.

AI should be your default starting point, not your backup plan. Writing. Thinking. Designing. Coding. Planning. If you’re manually doing work AI can do faster and better, that’s not craftsmanship. It’s wasted time when no time could be wasted.

Here’s the part people don’t like hearing: the demand for AI-native employees is exploding right now. Companies are starting to care less about fancy titles and padded resumes and more about who can actually ship. People with good taste, real business sense, and insane drive. 

If you’re stuck in a role you don’t love, waiting for permission, budget, or prioritization, this moment isn’t something to fear. It’s your opening.

Stop watching. Stop critiquing. Stop waiting to feel ready. 
Start building.

There’s something truly magical that happens when a bunch of people show up with the same energy - curious, supportive, slightly chaotic, and ready to build. That’s what I saw last Sunday at our SheBuilds event at Lovable’s HQ in Stockholm. And I’m still in awe about it.

Community is a funny thing. You can’t force it, you can’t manufacture it in a spreadsheet, and there’s definitely no funnel optimization framework for it. But when it clicks, you feel it immediately.

Honestly, this is what growth in the age of AI is starting to look like. Less obsessing over micro-optimizing funnels, more creating spaces where people can build, learn, and inspire each other.

And selfishly… this version of growth is way more fun.

Feeling really fortunate that I get to help create moments like this. Watching people realize “wait, I can actually build this” never gets old. Helping more women get there is incredibly rewarding. 

Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Many companies are so addicted to revenue they’re growing themselves broke.
That's right, I said it. Revenue addiction kills companies. 

It looks something like this: 
Every initiative must show revenue, or else. 
If it doesn’t make $$$ in a week? Kill it.
No new in-quarter revenue? Not a priority.
Can’t attribute it in a dashboard? Doesn’t count.
Great for customers but not the pipeline? Don't you dare to bring it up.

That mindset was already toxic. But during the AI transition it’s becoming fatal.
Because the companies that win this era will invest years ahead of the revenue curve. 

Revenue-addicted companies don’t have the patience for that.

BUT! We are in the middle of a technological shift, and short-term outcomes combined with over-optimizing the existing business will end up being death sentences for many.

The scary part? A shocking number of companies are operating this way.

And how do you fix it, you might ask? You probably can’t.
Fixing it requires massive shifts in leadership mindset/roster and investor pressure. And most companies never make those changes (there, I said it).

Gmail Just Changed the Game

A few months ago, I bought a directory boilerplate for https://lnkd.in/dWF9bnbM.

It shipped with Vercel Pro, Neon PostgreSQL, and AWS S3. Solid stack. Works out of the box.

But "works out of the box" was costing $37/month to serve what's essentially a static-ish directory site.

So last week I migrated the entire thing to Cloudflare Workers, D1, and R2.

Same Next.js frontend. Zero downtime. No rewrite.

The results:
- $37/month → $0/month (entire stack on Cloudflare's free tier) 
- No performance issues
- Screenshot images: 35KB → 17KB via Cloudflare image optimization

Newsletter ads don't have to feel like ads. 

If the promotion aligns with your audience's values and actually "helps" them, it becomes native content, and people engage. 

The best ads feel like something the reader would open even if they weren't a paid placement.

The fastest way to kill your newsletter:

- Copy everyone else.
- Write like a robot.
- Stuff your sponsors into every corner. 

The fastest way to grow your newsletter:
Write *for* readers, not *at* them. Build trust first; the dollars follow.

Most newsletter platforms make the same promise: "We'll get smarter over time." 
That's usually code for "We'll guess a little better next month." 

But what if your newsletter actually learned for real, like a dog that finally stops stealing your lunch?

Here's what nobody tells you, 
Reinforcement learning isn't some theoretical AI buzzword. 
It's the reason my newsletter copy doesn't read like an outsourced essay. 
Every send is an experiment. 
Each open, click, and ignored headline gets fed back into the machine. 
Immediate course correction. 
No drama, no magic. 

Here's what that means for operators: 
- You can stop pretending readers are fooled by lazy sponsor spots 
- Your next campaign can actually be better, not just louder 
- Every issue delivered is a data point, not just a shot in the dark 

And the kicker, of course, is revenue. 
Higher CTR means happier sponsors. 
Happier sponsors stay, pay more, and refer their friends. 
It compounds.

If your newsletter platform isn't learning from every send, you're leaving both attention and money on the table. 
So ask yourself, what did your last email actually teach you?

Write less.

Stop overthinking every word and just deliver value.

If your sponsored content reads like a used-car sales pitch, stop.

Your readers are smart, they can smell inauthenticity from a mile away. 

The trick: Make ads *feel* like part of the newsletter, not an interruption.

A good sponsor message is one that fits seamlessly into your voice.

Your sponsor copy is probably killing your revenue.

No, really. 
Most newsletters are obsessed with filling slots and cashing checks. 
But here's the real damage: copying and pasting generic sponsor blurbs is a slow, quiet leak. 

You know the kind.
Safe. Sanitized. Sounds like a billboard, not you.
Suddenly your open rates drop for ad issues. 
Readers glaze over.
Your "premium sponsor" CPMs? Stuck in the mud.
Long-term? The hits stack up.
- Readers start skipping ads, then skipping issues.
- Sponsors see click rates tank and don't renew.
- Your newsletter stops feeling like your voice.

I learned this the hard way.
Back when I ran my own newsletter, I once let a big sponsor drop in their ready-made copy. It sounded nothing like me. 
You could feel the churn in real time. Clicks dipped. I got the "is this worth it?" email from the sponsor. Reader replies got snarkier.

What's wild is, there's a better way. 
Rewriting sponsor copy in your own voice immediately boosts click rates. 
It's not even close.
I've seen rewrites double or triple CTRs, just by making the pitch sound less like a robot and more like a recommendation from a friend.

Bottom line: If your ad copy reads like a press release, you're leaving money (and trust) on the table.

Set it and forget it? That's the newsletter sponsorship advice I see everywhere.

Who actually lives in that fantasy?

Here's a harsh reality check for anyone in the newsletter game:

No sponsor ad is evergreen. No campaign just runs itself.

I've run enough sponsor slots to know: "Set it and forget it" is code for "Just watch your CPA tank and your readers tune out."

You want to know what actually works?

Treat every sponsor as an integral part of your content. No lazy copy-paste jobs. No sponsored section that sticks out like a sore thumb. No "insert logo here" nonsense.

My inbox is full of generic ad copy. None of it fits my voice. None of it converts.

So what's my playbook?

- Rewrite every ad so it sounds like me talking, not a desperate brand
- Drop deadweight sponsors who can't be tailored for my audience
- Work one ad per issue into the editorial flow, not a block walling off the content
- Share actual results with sponsors, not just impressions

Last month, I replaced two sponsor blurbs that read like they were written by ChatGPT circa 2020. Immediate bump in CTR. Zero reader complaints. The sponsor asked to book for three months instead of one.

Not one step of that was autopilot.

If your "set it and forget it" sponsorships still generate revenue, congratulations. Just know they're leaving way more on the table than you think.

If you want sponsor revenue that actually grows, you start treating every ad as your own product launch.

Stop mailing it in. Start making your sponsors part of your story.

Curious, does anyone actually have a "set it and forget it" approach that isn't quietly losing money?

A reply is the gold standard of email engagement.

When someone replies, inbox providers take notice. It's the strongest positive signal you can send.

If your reply rate is dropping, your deliverability is likely to follow.

Ask questions worth answering. Make it easy to respond.

Your newsletter isn't just a content play.

It's an attention machine waiting to be leveraged.

Job boards. Courses. Sponsorships. Paid communities. Consulting.

The newsletter is the engine. What you build on top is up to you.

80% of consumers are more likely to buy when brands personalize the experience.

In newsletters, that means:

1. Segment your list
2. Use dynamic content
3. Reference what they've clicked before

Generic blasts are leaving money on the table.

Newsletters aren't just about "sending emails", they're your shortest path to building relationships at scale. 

• Share useful stories, not recycled noise
• Be consistent, not spammy
• Treat readers like humans, not clicks 

Your audience isn't disposable. Write like it.

Newsletter ads don't have to scream "AD".

The best-performing sponsored content feels native. 

Here's how you make it work:
- Match your tone, not the sponsor's
- Prioritize storytelling over promo pitches
- Focus on value first 

Readers will notice, and so will your CPMs.

Nobody talks about the real time killer in running a newsletter.

It's not finding sponsors.
It's not delivering results.
It's rewriting the sponsor ad copy.
 
You know exactly what I mean.
You land a new sponsor.
You celebrate for five minutes.
Then you open their draft, and your heart sinks.
It's three paragraphs of bland mush that could've been written by a fax machine.
 
So you start editing.
You fix their headline.
You cut the jargon.
You try to make it sound like something your readers won't ignore.
You do this for every sponsor, every week, all year.
 
Here's the math.
If it takes you 30 minutes to rewrite a single ad (and that's optimistic), and you run 6 sponsored slots per week...
 
That's 3 hours a week.
156 hours a year.
Nearly a full working month, gone. Just rewriting ads.
 
Nobody puts this in their newsletter advice threads.
Nobody brags about being a "senior sponsor copy editor."
But it's the hidden tax on every operator trying to build a real business.
 
And if you skip it?
Your sponsor results tank.
Your click rates flatline.
And sponsors start "pausing" campaigns.
 
So, what's the fix?
 
Option 1: Force every sponsor to write in your voice. Good luck. Most sponsors will ignore your guidelines or paste whatever came from last week's PR team.

3. Add your 2 cents. Not a summary, not praise. Tell people why it matters, why it's wrong, or why you don't buy it.
4. Call your shot. Ask readers to prove you wrong, share their take, or tag the one person who disagrees.

Real talk. I built a Chrome extension to do this in 10 seconds because I got tired of copying, pasting, and rewriting (and because I'm lazy). But you don't need my tool to do this. You just need to stop making your posts sound like a book report.

Why does this matter for newsletters? Because every post is a preview. If your social game is bland, why should anyone trust you to curate the stories that matter?
