In Kenya, a Maasai elder with no formal education
taught me more about leadership in one afternoon
than four years of college.

His secret wasn't his knowledge.

our credential-focused world forgets:

Credentials depreciate.

In a childhood where chaos and fear were constant, I learned to listen deeply.

Today I bring that understanding to my work as a coach, an actress, and a tango dancer.
I guide women who’ve spent their lives caring for others back to themselves.

To a place where self-trust feels possible again.

Not angry. Not loud.
Just distant.

So I stepped forward.

I softened.
I explained myself.
I gave more than I wanted to.

Not because it was true for me.
But because losing connection felt unbearable.

I didn’t learn my way out of this with better words.
I learned it by listening to what my body was doing in those moments
And by slowly teaching it that connection didn’t have to disappear when I stayed true.

That’s why I see this pattern so clearly now.

This is the part no one names.

You’re not agreeing because you want to.
You’re agreeing to keep love close.
To keep the bond intact.
To stay safe in relationship.

For a long time, this gets called people pleasing.
Or being too sensitive.
Or bad boundaries.

But what’s actually happening is much older than that.

Your body learned early that tension meant risk.
That distance meant danger.
That belonging required adjustment.

So even now, your system moves before you choose.

That’s why scripts don’t work.
That’s why “just say no” feels impossible in the moment.

Because this isn’t about confidence.
It’s about safety.

And until safety comes first, every boundary will feel like a loss.
