Character is earned

When you prioritize character,
success becomes inevitable.

Not because you're chasing it,

I've watched this play out
across continents and cultures.

In Kenya, a Maasai elder with no formal education
taught me more about leadership in one afternoon
than four years of college.

His secret wasn't his knowledge.
It was how he listened.
How he made every person feel seen.

I saw this pattern play out around the world.

The fisherman who shared his catch
never went hungry.

The mother who adopted a stranger's sorrows
never lacked for family.

Choosing character over credentials
requires courage that some people lack.

You'll lose opportunities that compromise your values.

This is the cost that our achievement-obsessed world 
doesn't talk about.

The people who sustain success
ask different questions from the start:

Not "How can this help me?"
But "How can I help?"

But "What value can I add?"

The difference between performative 
and authentic character is simple:

Performative character asks:
"What will make me look good?"

Authentic character asks:
"What's right?"

I've seen executives with impressive credentials
crash and burn over character flaws.

And watched people with modest backgrounds
build empires because they were trustworthy.

The CEO who still answers his own emails.
The billionaire who's lived in the same house for 30 years.
The leader who promotes the person who challenged them.

They understood something
our credential-focused world forgets:

Credentials depreciate.
Character compounds.

Your followers can disappear overnight.
Your degree may lose relevance.
Your title changes with your job.

But your reputation
follows you everywhere.

Here's how to spot authentic character:

1. Watch how a person treats people
who can't help them advance.

2. Listen to how they talk
about people who aren't present.

3. Notice if their private values
match their public persona.

This question is like my North Star:

"If I choose character over credentials,
how does this decision change?"

Suddenly, every choice becomes clearer.
Every relationship deeper.
Every opportunity more meaningful.

We carry two resumes through life:

One lists our achievements.
The other lists our character.

Only one opens doors
that actually matter.

The world will always reward credentials first.
Character takes longer to pay dividends.
But when it does,
the returns are exponential.

So I went looking.

They're still posting.
And I am not seeing it.

Something broke in 2026.

Your LinkedIn reach didn't disappear. 
It got filtered.

Good content.

This is what the 2026 data actually shows us:
1. Impressions down 50-65% platform-wide. 
2. Top creators gaining 12% engagement.

Same algorithm. Completely different behavior.

LinkedIn confirmed the platform now scans posts instantly for spam signals:

- Posting too often suppresses your next post by 20% (sic)
- Engagement bait kills you. ("Comment yes if..." - instant flag).
- AI-polished content with no soul gets throttled. Use your story !
- Automation bursts will slow you within 24 hours with no warning.

What actually works now for creators and coaches is this :

- Posting 2-5 times a week (not daily). 
- Spacing the posts minimum 24 hours.
- Writing stories with lessons embedded.
- Staying native. Links in posts = 60% reach penalty.
- Longer posts win. 800-1000 words seems to work well. 
- Sparking real conversations. 50 thoughtful comments beat 500 quick likes.
- Commenting like a human. 15+ words. Thoughtful replies (not "Great post!").

LinkedIn now asks one question before showing your post: 
"Did this help a professional think better?"

Answer that consistently. 
And the algorithm works with you again.

Now if your reach dropped recently (and it probably did), 
this is what you can do: 

- Pause 48-72 hours. 
- Clean your patterns first.
- Restart with one real story-based post.

This matters if you want clients from the platform. 
Not just vanity metrics.

Consistency without clarity 
Doesn't lead to growth.
It’s noise.

And noise doesn’t build authority.
It multiplies whatever’s already there.

If your strategy is missing, consistency just burns your time.
If your message is unclear, consistency makes you irrelevant faster.
If your positioning is weak, consistency makes you forgettable louder.

I learned this the hard way before starting seriously.
I showed up every day,
Talking to everyone.
(aka no-one 😅).

Jumping between random topics.
Hiding behind safe "tips". 

Posting with no real strategy.
Result? Invisible.

Until I showed up fully,
But not without :

→ Defining my audience.
→ Sharpening my positioning.
→ Aligning my posts to a strategy.
→ Implementing and twisting it after reality check.

Now you can use AI to get all this 
in couple of hours, instead of days, or weeks.

Posting daily won’t save you.
Clarity + consistency will.

The benchmarks for accounts my size (7k followers) is this:

- 2–5% engagement rate is good.
- 6–7% engagement is already strong.
- Above puts you in the top bracket. 


But more interesting, 
The type of engagement tells you exactly 
What to change, correct, do more off, or do less.

So you reach your objectives (branding, selling, etc). 

Here are the 3 steps I use to increase my engagement (steal this) ↓ 

1. Calculate your real engagement

Do this : (likes + comments + shares + clicks) ÷ impressions × 100
<2% → message missed
2–5% → message landed
5%+ → message resonates

2. Read your 4 types of engagement

High comments, low shares
 → emotional truth, people feel seen

High likes, low comments
 → polite agreement but shallow connection

High profile views, low comments
 → curiosity without trust

High shares, low comments
 → useful, but distant

3. Decide what to change
→ Low comments? Add tension. Ask for lived experience.
→ Low shares? Make it useful beyond you.
→ Low profile views? Clarify positioning. Who is this for?
→ Low everything? Wrong message. Not wrong algorithm.

This is how you stop guessing.
And start reading signals.

There's no hack.

It’s data backed growth.

And you can certainly can do this too.

One finding stopped me cold.

The education level of AI responses almost matches
the education level of user inputs.

With a near-perfect mirroring (0.92 correlation).

But the dangerous part isn't the tool. 
It's how fast you switch to autopilot.

AI won't warn you. 
It'll just match your efforts.

PhD-level prompt → PhD-level response. 
Lazy prompt → lazy response from AI. 

AI isn't making thinking optional. 
It's making lazy thinking visible.

You cannot be off guards.

You don't even notice when you coast. 
But AI records it.

That means for you, me (and our kids) :

- Stay sharp or learn how to become sharp. AI rewards effort, not shortcuts.
- Build your foundation. Critical thinking before AI tools.
- Train your people. Junior talent needs depth, not AI access alone.

Try this prompt to check yourself first:
"Act as a critical thinking evaluator. Based on our interactions and how I ask questions, rate the depth of my thinking on a scale of 1-10. Tell me what I'm missing, where I'm being vague, and what assumptions I'm making without realizing. Give me direct actionnable advices to improve accuracy in your answers. Be brutally honest."

Booom - now you know.

You'll see exactly what AI sees.
But please keep a critical eye on it ;).

Again.

The coaching market exploded last year.
AI made advice free. It became a commodity.

This is not good or bad. 
It’s just a reality.

And it’s happening fast, in front of our teary eyes.

But hey, the math is obvious.
Almost free vs $200 per session.

I'm a certified therapist,
And I'm doing it.

You're probably doing it,
And your clients... too.

This is what it means for the coaching and therapy business: 
Vague promises lose to free AI. 
Sad but true. 

And yet most founders still obsess over their niche like in 2024.

"I help busy moms." 
"I help burnt-out executives."

Cool. So does everyone else.

you will notice 2 categories (and one is winning clearly)

- One group sells destinations. ("I help you find balance.")
- The other sells machines. ("The Cortisol Detox Protocol.")

Same transformation. Different frame.

Just check it by yourself :

1. Vague polished 
"I help burnt-out executives lower stress and feel calm."
Nice. Compare you to a $20 app. You lose.

Versus 

2. A named mechanism
"I guide executives through The Cortisol Detox Protocol."

Sounds engineered. Sounds biological. Necessary.

The Clarity Code. 
The Freedom Protocol. 
The Energy Reset System.

Your mechanism just needs a name. 
There's a reason you start to see this flourish on Linkedin. 

Add it to your value proposal for a complete “proprietary” positioning.
You then have your complete and unique signature. 
Your Intellectual Property. 

So yes, ChatGPT can give advice 
(but watch out for the so-called  advice’ please). 

But it cannot replicate your proprietary method.
Unless you never built one.

Try this prompt:
"Act as a Product Architect. Based on my expertise [fill], help me create a signature protocol name. I help [niche] solve [problem]. My unique mechanism is [how you do it]. Package this as a proprietary system and give me 5 names using words like Protocol, Code, System, Method for example. Explain why each implies value for my clients”

Booom. Instant positioning.

The market has shifted dramatically.
But the talented one is YOU, not AI.
