Churn will always catch up with you

But the brands that slow it down don’t just rely on reminders or discounts.

They build stickiness into the subscription itself.

That’s why it’s encouraging to see loyalty finally being treated as part of the subscription system - Not just a hopeful bolt-on.

When loyalty, credits, tiers and referrals all live inside the subscription portal.

1. Customers see the value as they manage their orders

2. You can surface rewards at the exact moment someone is considering cancelling (and what they lose if these do)

3. And you can actually measure how loyalty impacts CLTV and churn, not just points issued

That connection matters.

I’m also a big believer that referrals help break the subscription death curve - that moment where growth flattens and you’re just replacing churn.

Using subscribers as an acquisition channel is powerful.

And when referrals are native to the subscription experience, it becomes frictionless.

The more loyalty is embedded into how subscriptions work, the more resilient the program becomes.

Building brands that set the standard. Paid Social + Email Marketing | Founder at Envu Media

Follow these 10 non-negotiable rules if you’re serious about scaling your DTC brand in 2026. 
(I used them to help multiple brands 2× their revenue last year)


RULE 1 - Be patient

An underrated skill and a tough one when cash is at play.
If your ads don’t deliver on day 2, don’t pull spend. If performance dips suddenly, don’t pull spend either. Pulling spend too early is how you kill winners before they compound.

Things take time. 



RULE 2 - Never stop testing

Ad creatives & copy, landing pages, email send times, account structure, and the list goes on.
You must be able to test continuously, fast and with real meaning behind each test.
Test big, not small. Testing the colour of a button won’t cut it. We’re in 2026.



RULE 3 - Be proactive

Always have a plan B in your back pocket if things go south long enough.
Your next move in terms of ad creatives, email strategy or landing pages should always be a day or 2 away from launch.



RULE 4 - Be diverse

Creative diversity was on everyone’s lips last year - and for good reasons.
But there’s diversity within your brand AND diversity within your market.
If a customer can’t tell your ad apart from 5 competitors, you’ve already lost.



RULE 5 - Simplify everything

Simplify your account structures and naming conventions.
Time is money, and the last thing you want is to spend time trying to decode what is what.
A clean account will save you hours to focus on higher-leverage tasks.



RULE 6 - Get on the camera

This one’s for the founders. 10 times out of 10, founder-led creatives we test for our brands are our best performers. Who can speak about your product better than… you?



RULE 7 - Value > discounts

Choose value over discounts in your content and see what happens.
You’ll attract better customers.

The ones likely to stick around.

The ones boosting your LTV.

Value-packed content > Discount-led content.



RULE 8 - Build systems

Being able to feed your ad or Klaviyo account with a constant stream of creatives requires some serious systems in place. For reference, we use 7 tools picked for their collaborative and creative features. The goal here is to make what feels complicated seamless for all parties involved.



RULE 9 - Make genuine content

Overproduced content signals ads. Genuine content signals trust.
Whether you partner with creators or not, customers are extremely educated and harder to convince than ever before.
Too scripted, they’ll skip.
Honest, they’ll keep watching and buy from you.



RULE 10 - Know your numbers

Still relying on on-platform ROAS?
7-8-figure brands or any experienced media buyers don’t fully follow this metric.

What really matters:

- Contribution margin
- True CAC (blended, not channel-reported)
- LTV by cohort
- CAC : LTV ratio over time

Time to lock in.

Heard this plenty of times over the last few years. 
And I used to agree.

What I know is this:
Any business is good business.
A sale is a sale.

Profitable or not, your product will land in a new household.


These customers are likely to:

- Like your product
- Leave a positive review
- Tell friends and family about your brand
- Purchase again

We’re getting too wired for short-term rewards. 

And we tend to forget that word of mouth is free and also the most powerful marketing channel.

The takeaway from this is:
Be obsessive about your product, and the rest will follow.
Low or high AOV customers.
