I talked with 3 coaches doing over $1m/yr this month. Here's what they're building instead of 'funnels' in 2026.

They all said the same thing.

A simple sales funnel got them started a few years ago, but that's not how people buy anymore.

Their customers KNOW when their in a sales funnel now. 

And so they've changed their buyer journey to fit this model instead.

There are a couple variations to this, but essentially you need to 3 things to make it work: 


1. Get them engaged with something LOW friction. 

This could be a lead magnet, a newsletters or a low ticket offer for example.

(although 2 of them were actually abandoning their low ticket offers in favour of a shorter buying journey to high-ticket MRR). 


2. Help them level-up with an easy next-step.

This is a simple "if that helped, this will too" offer. 

Your goal here is to help them know, like and trust you enough to engage with your core offer. 

Keep it simple, bingeable and offer it sooner than you think you should.


3. Make accessing your core-offer an EASY next-step.

Remember, we're helping them 'ascend', in this model.

They need to know what you core offer is, how it helps them and have a clear, easy path to access it. 

Don't hide it in a 7-day email course. 

Make it easy for them to buy from you. 
(this is where 97% of coaches go wrong).


You need to stop trying to stuff hundreds and thousands of people into the top of your funnel hoping a few will drop out as clients. 

You can sell more, with less effort, to your small audience if you just help them level up.

And make it easy for them to take the next step.

I have control. 
I can decide. 
It's my choice. Not someone else's. 

And it's glorious! 

I love the flexibility I have to work wherever I am in the world.

I've built my delivery model so that it feels light and easy. 

My business is about protecting my freedom, not anchoring me.

And I like to feel productive while Im on vacation. 
That's my happy place. 🙌🏼

But you have to set REAL boundaries and know when to close the laptop (or your phone . . . yeah you know).

Here's a simple truth every coach should know. 

It will make or break you.

Someone please make sense of the recent algo changes

I got on a call with a consultant last week who was frustrated with LinkedIn.

He'd been posting consistently for over a year. 

The writing was good, personality came through, & he was getting some inbound here and there.

But it felt random, there was just no pattern to it.

He thought he needed to completely overhaul his content. 

Maybe some good ole hooks or whatever the gurus are calling it these days.

Within ten minutes of talking, I spotted the actual problem.

His profile told people what he did. But it didn't tell them who it was for or what they'd walk away with.

So LinkedIn couldn't figure out which box to put him in.

Which meant it just showed him to everyone.

Which is basically the same as showing him to no one. 

(Thanks new algo)

His positioning was the real culprit.

When your positioning is clear, the platform knows who to show your content to. 

The right people start showing up in your comments. Inbound starts feeling less random because it isn't random anymore.

When your positioning is all over the place, you can post every day with great hooks and decent engagement. 

But it won't convert into actual business conversations.

Most people go looking for content fixes when the problem is one step upstream.

If your content is getting engagement but not the right conversations, it's probably not your content.

Had a discovery call the other week that went really well. Until I didn't. 

The conversation was great. They clearly had the positioning problem I solve. 

We were vibing, lots of nodding, they were seeing their own situation in what I was describing.

Then came the natural moment to transition from diagnosis to "so would you like help with this?"

And I just kept asking more questions.

Stayed in consultant mode. Let the call end with "this was really helpful, let me think about it."

Hung up and immediately thought: "You did it again."

I had just spent 20 minutes diagnosing their exact problem and never once mentioned I could help them solve it.

Fucking hell. 

Here's what I've noticed about why this happens.

Asking another question feels safer than risking the "no."

Being helpful feels more comfortable than being direct about wanting their business.

So I default to what's comfortable instead of what actually moves things forward.

The thing is, I'm not doing them any favors by avoiding the conversation.

If I genuinely think I can help them, staying in "free consultant mode" doesn't serve either of us. It just delays the decision they need to make anyway.

I'm getting better at catching myself before the call ends.

But clearly not all the way there yet.

Still working on the transition from "helpful conversation" to "actual business discussion" without feeling like I'm crossing some invisible line.

Anyone else have a version of this they're still figuring out? 🤓

I used to think I had a content problem.

I'd write a post, it would do pretty well. 

Some likes, a few comments, maybe a share. Then I'd write another one. Same result.

It was always the same pattern:

- I kept tweaking the hooks
- Tried different formats
- Posted more
- Posted less
- Figured out the best time of day to publish posts

But none of it really moved the needle

What I didn't realise at the time was that I was optimising the wrong thing. 

The content was fine. The problem was that I had no clear answer to a very basic question.

Who is this actually for?

Not a vague answer. Not "consultants and solopreneurs." 

A specific person with a specific problem who would read a post and think: this person gets exactly what I'm dealing with.

I didn't have that. 

Here's where you are probably stuck:

- If you're not sure which direction to take your next post, that's not a creativity problem. 
-If you're getting likes from people who would never buy from you, that's not an algorithm problem. 
- If you finish writing something and think "I'm not sure if this is right," that feeling is telling you something.

You can't solve a positioning problem with better content.

You just end up with more polished content that reaches the wrong people faster.

Fix your positioning first, then work on your content.

I used to dread my own sales calls.

Every conversation felt like I was tricking someone into working with me.

Even when I genuinely thought I could help.

The problem wasn't my offer or my sales skills.

It was that I had no idea who I actually served or what specific problem I solved.

So I was guessing my way through every conversation.

That uncertainty made every pitch feel deceptive, even when it wasn't.

Here's what changed for me: I got clear on my content positioning.

Because:

- Vagueness attracts confusion.
- Clarity attracts commitment.

Remember.

Sales feels manipulative when you don't know who you serve.

It feels natural when you do.

How to improve sales through content positioning

In my experience, most consultants are great at what they do, but terrible at explaining it to others! 

Especially in their content. 

- They post regularly. 
- Get decent engagement. 

But the leads? Wrong fit or non-existent.

Chances are, you content doesn't convert because nobody knows what you actually do or why they should hire you.

The real issue here is that they haven’t really defined:

- Who you serve (and who you don't)?
- What specific problem you solve?
- Why someone should choose you over alternatives?
- How your expertise translates into an actual offer?

Content amplifies positioning. But it doesn't create it.

When you try to use content to figure out your positioning, you end up with generic AI slop posts that appeal to everyone and convert no one.

I've been there. Built a 10K audience posting LinkedIn tactics. Got tons of engagement. 

But the clients? Either wrong fit or just wanted more short-lived tactics.

Now I work with other consultants & experts to solve the positioning problem first, then build content strategy on that foundation.

Positioning clarity → Offer design →

In that order.
