One of the things that matters most to us is creating spaces where children can grow in confidence. This is why we have designed a Christmas Pantomime to mark the season with them. 

The children have been practising for weeks and I am truly proud of their progress. They have been so committed to rehearsals and eager to show up every time.

There is something powerful about the moment a child spots someone they love in the audience. They stand taller. They try harder. They feel seen. That simple moment can shift everything for them, which is why this evening means so much.

With a background in law, policy, social and racial  justice , passion for empowering communities,  my purpose is bridging  the gap between  policy and practice, advocating for diverse inclusive work environments  where everyone is invited, included, valued, and empowered to thrive.

As Verna Myers succinctly puts it, “Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” This quote resonates and encapsulates my 25-year journey, which my lived experiences and a strong belief in justice and equity have shaped.

My commitment to social justice began in 2008 during my law studies at Strathclyde University, where I provided pro bono employment advice. Confronting the harsh realities of discrimination firsthand ignited a lifelong drive to challenge inequality and advocate for underrepresented groups.

The Equality Act 2010 was a turning point for me. I recognized its potential to address systemic discrimination in public institutions, and I have since worked to help organizations move beyond performative gestures to embed genuine inclusion and foster cultures of belonging. I also serve as a Trustee for Carers of West Lothian and support the governance of Women’s Networks across Scotland championing te empowerment of women and their families. 

My journey in EDI is one of continuous learning, relentless advocacy, and an unwavering belief in the power of advocacy. I am committed to building a society where equity, inclusion, and justice are not just aspirations, but lived realities for all.
