Some people will only notice your value once you stop offering it to them.

I’ve been there, sitting at a table where I gave everything I had.
My ideas.
My energy.

I kept showing up, thinking consistency would earn clarity.
But all it did was teach me this truth:

If you have to explain your value over and over, you’re sitting at the wrong table.

When others get credit for what you built, it’s time to invest your energy elsewhere.

3️⃣ You’ve stopped growing.
The wrong environment doesn’t challenge you, it contains you.

✅ What I did instead:
→ I built my own table.
→ I surrounded myself with people who celebrated my progress.
→ I stopped asking for a seat, and started creating the space.

That decision changed everything.

Because when you choose respect over comfort, your career — and confidence, start to rise.

Years ago, I remember scrolling through LinkedIn and seeing people share their wins:
→ New jobs
→ Speaking gigs
→ Book deals
→ Clients pouring in

I was happy for them, but I asked myself:

“Why not me?”

I wasn’t bitter, I was just tired.

I just turned 33. Here are 19 career truths I wish I knew at the start of my career:


1/ Career paths are completely made up.
•  There is no right or wrong path, just your path.

2/ Most people spend years living someone else’s dream.
•  Define your success and work hard to achieve it.

3/ Get good at something, don’t follow your passion.
•  You don’t randomly ‘find’ your passion - you explore and improve.

4/ Trust isn’t about sharing your entire personal life.
•  It's about being consistently reliable, day after day.

5/ At the start you’re paid for your potential. But it expires fast.
•  Later, only your track record talks.

6/ Treat every job as an experiment.
•  The cost of experiment now is months, later it’s years.

7/ Taking a “stepping stone” job rarely works.
•  It just increases the chances you don't make the leap.

8/ You will feel like an imposter (sometimes).
•  It’s not a bad thing. It means you’re growing.

9/ If you don't communicate, people assume the worst. 
•  Silence gets filled with fears, not hopes.

10/ Everything takes longer than you think.
•  Double your timeline, then add six months.

11/ Being exceptional, requires doing exceptional things.
•  You can’t be different by doing the same thing as everyone else.

12/ You need a sponsor, not just a mentor.
•  Mentors guide you, sponsors fight for your promotions.

13/ Most “career emergencies” aren’t.
•  Take a breath before reacting, 99% can wait until tomorrow.

14/ Always network before you need it.
•  The best time to build relationships was yesterday.

15/ Your reputation starts on Day 1.
•  People remember how you handle small tasks.

16/ Good feedback hurts because it’s true.
•  Pay extra attention to the feedback that stings.

17/ If you hate the work, you’ll never master it.
•  Passion follows mastery, but you need baseline interest.

18/ Double down on strengths.
•  Find your natural strengths and lean into them.

19/ Don’t ignore your gut instinct.
•  Your gut feeling about a job is hardly ever wrong.

The most expensive career lessons are learned through experience. 
But the smartest people learn from others' experiences.

19 career truths I wish I knew before I started work

Most people have big ideas.
Almost nobody executes.

Why?
• they’re afraid to fail
• they’re scared of rejection
• they’re worried about looking stupid

So they overthink, overprepare and then look back with regret.

Embarrassment is part of all of our lives.
The more we’re willing to take, the bigger the reward.

Every big win in my life started with something embarrassing.

Goldman-Sachs started with 12-hour days in the library.
LinkedIn started with 45 posts that fell flat.
Saywhat started with hundreds of cold DMs.

The truth is that we all get scared, but how you respond to it defines who you are.

Oprah was fired from her first TV job…
…until she built a media empire.

Walt Disney was told he “lacked imagination”…
…until he built a $200B brand.

Stephen King was rejected 30 times…
…until Carrie became a bestseller.

They all felt embarrassed before they felt proud.

People will judge you no matter what, so it’s better to try and fail than not try at all.

That’s how progress works.

And the haters will laugh until it works.

They'll Laugh Until It Works

Seven words from a teacher changed his entire future.

Big achievements rarely start with big plans.

They start with small moments that change how you see yourself.

Not a roadmap. 
Not a milestone.

Just someone who believed in you before you did.

A teacher once told a student, "You have a gift. Don't waste it."

She said it in passing, then moved on. For her, it was just another school day.

But for him - it wasn't.
He held onto those words for years. 

Through a messy early career he never forgot that sentence.
Every time he thought of settling, he'd remember her voice: 

"You have a gift. Don't waste it."

Years later, he started writing online. 
Small lessons he'd learned on his journey.

First a few people read them. 
Then ten turned into thousands.
Thousands turned into millions.

That student was me.
And the teacher was Daniele Harford-Fox.

That's the butterfly effect - a small action in one place creates massive change somewhere else.

Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future.

Most people think hard work is enough.

But it’s incredibly hard to outgrow an environment that caps your ceiling.

You can be doing everything right - working hard, learning, improving - yet still find yourself stuck.

Why? Because your environment shapes your ceiling.

You absorb the standards of the people around you without even realizing it.

Their pace becomes your pace. 
Their doubts become your doubts. 
And suddenly, “good enough” feels like progress.

I’ve been there.

And the shift didn’t happen because I worked harder.
It happened when I worked around smarter people.

In August, I spent a few weeks in London.
Working from Chris Donnelly’s office, with him and Nader Alnajjar.
Those few weeks pushed me way harder.

When you’re surrounded by top performers, your weaknesses become obvious and you start seeing how much more is possible.

Here’s how I did it:

1/ Find someone 2–3 steps ahead.
• Not ten - they should still remember your stage.
• Learn what they’re doing differently and why it works.

2/ Get in their physical space.
• Zoom doesn’t count. Help them as much as possible.
• Shadow them. Join their brainstorming sessions. Pay for proximity.

3/ Spot your biggest gaps.

Your Circle Decides Your Ceiling

We taught machines to think.
Then stopped thinking ourselves.

3/ The Reasoning Audit
Prompt: “Here’s my reasoning: [your reasoning]. Identify any weak logic, mistakes, or missing steps in my argument.”

Use these prompts to clean up your writing and thinking.

Right now, the real edge isn’t in the tool.
It’s in how you think with it.

Step 1: Go to Zapier(.)com/agents
Scroll to “Explore All Templates,” and pick one like Reddit Trend Content Generator, or click “New Agent”.

Step 2: Choose a Template
Click “Use Template” and follow the setup steps inside Zapier.

Step 3: Connect Your Apps
• Where it finds data (Reddit, Google)
• Where it stores output (Notion, Airtable, Sheets)
• How it tells you results (Slack, email)

I personally use Notion for all storage.

Step 4: Choose When It Runs
Set it to run on a schedule or on demand.

Step 5: Add Storage + Actions
Link Notion or Airtable, and tell it what to do - e.g., “Add Content to Page.”

Step 6: Preview and Test
Click Agent Preview → Test Agent to see your AI in action.

Step 7: Go Live
Once it looks good, switch to Activity → Run and let it handle the rest.

Now it will just run on autopilot!

We’ve all said it: “I don’t have time.”

What we mean is, “This doesn’t matter…

In the last 3 months, I’ve been coaching CEOs who’ve raised over $2B - and they all share one trait:

And the data shocked us both...

Organic reach hit its lowest point ever.
Down 65% from peak. 

And the gap between top performers and everyone else? Massive.

The change in the last 90 days is striking.

Here's what we found:

The Platform Reality

1. Median impressions dropped 18% year over year
2. Average creators are growing 20% slower since Q2
3. Suggested content is creating more space
4. Virality caps are creating space for niche content

What the Top 1% do differently

1. They comment more thoughtfully (150-165 meaningful conversations weekly)
2. They embrace format diversity - they have more winners
3. They're more consistent with quality (90% of views come from top 20% of posts)

Winning Post Formats (Reach Multiple)

1. Carousels (4.0x) - Story-driven education wins
2. Infographics (3.0x) - Use to drive newsletter subscribers
3. Motivational quotes (2.5x) - keep the visuals on brand. Billboards are out
4. Personal Stories (2.3x) - BTS pictures beats selfies
5. Video (1.9x) - Face-to-camera content builds trust
6. Text Only (1.0x) - But only with 14+ paragraphs

Tactics to boost performance

1. Write conversationally: Posts with simpler words (4-5 letters) perform 35% better
2. Structure matters: Less than 7 paragraphs = 74% drop in performance
3. Length is your friend: 1.3k-3k character posts get 38% more reach. No rambling
4. Weekend posting works: Sunday posts see highest reach
5. Links don't kill reach: Posts with 3+ useful links get 236% better performance
