Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Haiku Inc

As the CEO of Haiku Inc, I am passionate about creating innovative and engaging games that teach real-world cybersecurity skills and connect players to career opportunities. With over 20 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur and investor in the cybersecurity and technology sectors, I have founded and led multiple successful startups, such as Sentek Global, a leading provider of government and commercial cybersecurity solutions, and the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence, a nonprofit organization that fosters the growth and development of the cybersecurity ecosystem in the region.

I leverage my diverse background and expertise in gaming, cybersecurity, business development, public speaking, government contracting, and military special operations to build and scale high-performance teams, create value from ideas, and solve complex problems. As a former SEAL officer in the U.S. Navy, I have a strong sense of mission, leadership, and resilience, and I aim to inspire and empower others to achieve their full potential. I am also an active member of the board of directors and advisor to several organizations that support law enforcement, military veterans, and education, such as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation, the Veteran Fund, and Saved In America.

Founder and member of the Board of Directors, responsible for the standup, oversight, and management of the non-profit. The San Diego CCOE is dedicated to making the greater San Diego region into a Cyber Security Center of Excellence, resulting in an increase in jobs, talent, and capital in the cyber security vertical to the region.

A Lieutenant Colonel with the Nevada Air National Guard, Joshua “Cabo” Gunderson is a former combat pilot originally from Tampa, Florida. Joshua started his career at the United States Air Force Academy, graduating with degrees in geospatial science and Spanish in 2008. During F-15 pilot training, he received several awards including Distinguished Graduate and Top Gun. 

From 2008-2019, Joshua was stationed at various air bases including Okinawa, Japan and Anchorage, Alaska, where he transitioned from flying the F-15C to the F-22 Raptor. He executed multiple combat deployments throughout the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and earned the Raytheon Award, the Air Force’s top honor for aerial combat squadrons.

He finished his active duty career serving as the F-22 Demonstration Team Commander and Pilot from 2020-2022, where he earned the Field Grade Officer of the Year Award. He led the Air Force’s sole F-22 demonstration team, flying 200 sorties at over 25 domestic and international air shows annually, including the flyover at Superbowl 2022. Since leaving active duty, Joshua serves in the Nevada Air National Guard as an F-22 Subject Matter Expert, works for a private company as a corporate pilot, and consults for aviation clients.

In addition to his career, Joshua is passionate about community and aviation. During his time leading the F-22 Demo Team, he interacted with over 12,000 students across 167 community events and continues to participate in community outreach at local schools and children’s hospitals. When not working or volunteering, Joshua enjoys flying his personal aircraft, a Vans RV-8, around scenic Lake Tahoe, Nevada and California.

It’s crazy to think about how much identity the uniform carries.

When it’s gone, people expect you to just “move on.” But what actually happens is deeper. You’re rebuilding language, purpose, and direction all at once.

I remember realizing that no one was assigning the mission anymore. That responsibility landed fully on me. At first, that felt uncomfortable. Then it became empowering.

That moment teaches you something important: leadership means something different. Instead of executing someone else’s plan, you create a new one.

That’s uncomfortable at first. Then it becomes grounding.

One thing flying fighters taught me early on is this: progress rarely shows up in big moments.

It shows up in the boring ones.
One cleaner scan.
One clearer radio call.
One decision made a second earlier than yesterday.

Those tiny adjustments don’t feel impressive in the moment. You barely notice them day to day. But stack them long enough and suddenly the gap is obvious.

That’s how real advantage is built. Quietly. Repeatedly. On purpose.
