I left home at 19 and moved to another country with no money, no safety net, and no plan.

I was known for increasing deal size and decreasing time to close and doing it by working smarter, not harder. 

I've also spent time in sales enablement building growth programs. Testing them. Scaling them. The result? 

Reps in my programs closed at 43% vs rest of the company at 8%. Same product. Same market. Different human approach.

Your nervous system does not care that your stress is "for a good reason".

I was talking with a counselor friend of mine who works with a lot of high performers.

She said something that hit me hard: Your body doesn't know the difference between "I'm in danger" and "I'm scaling something exciting".

To your nervous system, stress is stress.

Sales leaders and enterprise sellers are great at justifying it:
– It's launch week
– It's quarter-end
– It's a huge deal
– It's a growth phase

We tell ourselves it's fine because we chose it.

Meanwhile, our body is white-knuckling its way through 8–10 calls a day, constant context-switching, and emotional labor with customers and teams.

Then we're surprised when we hit a wall.

The good news? Soothing your system doesn't take much. Two minutes to breathe, stand up, move. Easy. Doable anywhere. Small signals that tell your body "you're safe."

Your body is the only vehicle you get for this life. It's carrying your career, your relationships, your future. Give it a few moments to catch its breath.

Not because you're fragile. Because longevity in this game isn't about who takes the most hits. It's about who recovers fastest between rounds.

Your future self will thank you for the two minutes you took today between calls and tasks.

Only 2% of people become what they're actually capable of.

Not because of talent.
Not because of effort.

I operated without systems for most of my 30-year career.
Girding up.
Soldiering through.
White-knuckling it. 

And it cost me.
I was #1 worldwide three times.
But I also burned out.
Left money on the table.
Ran on fumes more than I'd admit. 

I wish I'd learned peak performance systems earlier.
I didn't.

But I know now. 
And you can't unlearn it. I wouldn't want to unlearn it. PPS is one of the most important skillsets I've learned in my entire career.

I thought I'd share in case it can help you build the energy and focus

This one thing has changed my productivity by at least 200%. 

The 80-Minute Deep Focus Block 

A lot of people ask why my masterclass sessions are 80 minutes.

Not 60. Not 90.
It's deliberate. 

Performance science shows:
→ Deep focus peaks around 90 minutes
→ But your brain needs transition time to reset

So we run:
→ 80 minutes of deep, high-quality work
→ 10 minutes deliberately reserved for transition

Not jumping straight into the next Zoom.
Not scrolling email or Slack.

But:
→ Standing up
→ Walking around
→ Taking a few deep breaths
→ Letting your nervous system reset

Why does this matter?
Sitting longer than 20 minutes
can reduce oxygen to your brain by 20%.

Short movement throughout the day keeps energy and clarity higher than one big workout.

Peak performance in sales
isn't dialing more or sending more emails.

It's architecting your day so your brain can do its best work when it matters.

Try this tomorrow:
→ One 80-minute deep work block
→ Followed by 5-10 minutes of real transition (no screens)

Then notice what happens to the quality of your thinking and your conversations.

It's showing up everywhere. 

Boardrooms, classrooms, kitchen tables. 

People who usually thrive under pressure are feeling it.

If you're in sales, you know this weight.

Your numbers are on the board. 
The pressure is public. 
And the stakes reset every quarter.

In the past two weeks, I've heard the same thing from seller after seller:

"I'm the worst procrastinator you've ever met."

"I'll close a big deal and then realize I forgot to send pricing on a small one."

"If a task gets past its due date, I just keep pushing it to the back burner."

"I procrastinate tasks I'm not sure how to accomplish. The anxiety keeps me from taking action."

These aren't junior reps.

These are experienced sellers.
8 to 30 years in the game.
President's Club winners.
Hitting their numbers.

And they're telling me the same thing:
Something isn't working the way it used to.

Here's what I'm seeing:
- The to-do list is as tall as they are.
- Nothing is crossing the finish line.
- The exciting deals get all the energy.  Everything else falls through the cracks.

One seller lost a deal last week because he didn't follow up fast enough. 

The prospect said: "I needed this last Thursday. I went with your competitor."

This isn't a discipline problem.
It's not laziness.
It's not a character flaw.

It's the result of sustained pressure without enough systems for recovery.🫙

The seller traits that worked five years ago aren't the traits we need now.

Willpower isn't enough.
Grinding harder isn't the answer.

What's needed is different:💥
→ Systems that create action without requiring motivation
→ Energy management, not just time management
→ Recovery built into the rhythm, not saved for weekends

The sellers who figure this out in 2026 won't just hit their number.

You can't outwork your way to a 10x deal.

It takes: 
→ Seeing differently 
→ Believing differently 
→ Making different moves

15 colleagues told me to walk away.

"Don't touch it."
"Client just renewed."
"Look the other way."

I didn't look the other way.
I addressed it. 

It turned into the largest deal in company history.

That wasn't the first time.

I've closed bellwether deals at every position along my career. The deals no one thought were possible. 

10x. 20x. 

Deals that changed what people believed was doable.

Here's what I know after 32 years:

Most reps unconsciously think smaller than they need to.

Some of it's fear. 
Your brain quietly shrinks what feels safe.

Some of it's bias. 
You've never seen it done, so it doesn't feel possible.

🏃 It's the 4-minute mile all over again.

In 1954, Roger Bannister became the first person to run a mile in under 4 minutes.

Before that? 
Experts said it was physically impossible. The human body couldn't do it.

Then Bannister did it.

And here's the wild part:
Within one year, dozens of runners broke the same barrier.

Nothing changed physically. 
No new training methods. 
No new shoes.

What changed was belief.

Once one person proved it was possible, everyone else's mental ceiling lifted.

💡 Same thing happens in sales.

When you've never seen a 10x deal, it doesn't feel possible.

When you're surrounded by people who close big, it becomes the norm.✨

You're already working hard.
