Every Ramadan I’m reminded of how powerful Allah swt is.

Let me give some context.

I reverted to Islam in 2021 (funnily enough took two shahadas, one in 2021, and one in 2025 - a story for a different time!).

2021 was an interesting time for me. I was starting an MSc, was working full time because I needed the money to pay rent, and decided to start a new startup. 

2021’s Ramadan was particularly special to me. Not only because it was the year I reverted, but also because the things I asked for from Allah swt all came true that year. 

Every prayer since then I try to remember that for Allah swt, there is no “impossible”. 

🌊 He parted the seas for Musa (pbuh)
🤲🏻 He raised Isa (pbuh) to the heavens to protect him without death
❤️‍🩹 Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) performed numerous healings by Allah's permission

If He can do all this and more then why doubt he can give you what you ask for.

I’m particularly shown this in Ramadan. Every single Ramadan since I reverted there has been usually one specific thing I have asked for. 

This year I have been rewarded with multiple signs of direction towards the answer. 

Remember Allah swt doesn’t say “no”. He says “yes”, “not right now”, or “I have something better for you”. 

The Prophet (pbuh) warned that a person's prayer is answered as long as they do not become impatient and say, "I prayed and prayed, but I was not answered," and then give up.

Be patient, perform salah, ask fo forgiveness. And most importantly, never doubt Allah swt’s power.

This was one of the best 100% ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ calls I've had on Hubble.

As a two time startup founder (1 x bootstrapped, 1 x VC backed) turned venture capital investor, I've always wanted to help those avoid the mistakes I've made. And maybe share a few learnings along the way.

Whether at Techstars, Carbon13, Undaunted: Tackling climate change with innovation, Queen Mary Social Venture Fund, Virgin StartUp and more, I've always made it clear that my voice is just one. 

Each mentor will have a different perspective, it's your job to work out what comes up a lot and how to tackle those things.

This call was special. An immigrant founder driven to change an entire industry. Great vision, clear focus. But naturally facing challenges.

By talking through with him over just a short period of time, we found that much of what he needed he already knew, but just needed some guidance.

Proof that even when we don't know where to go, sometimes it's just a nudge in the right direction that can make the difference.

This was the first text I saw when I opened WhatsApp the other day.

And this is what it's all about.

The first thing any mentor thinks after the call is: "Was I helpful?"

Whether it's imposter syndrome or just a genuine care that it was worthwhile, I can guarantee that we come away reassessing every word we said.

I go further, I write up notes, refine, and send some additional thoughts. Something beyond the call or a notetaker. Something that shows I care.
