Last week I rebuilt my LinkedIn profile from scratch.

Posted three times. The numbers looked terrible:

➞ 238 impressions (best post)
➞ 13 reactions 
➞ 3 comments 

Engagement dropped hard compared to before the rebrand.

But here's what changed everything when I looked closer.

I analyzed who actually engaged with those posts.

40% were founders, builders, and operators. My actual ICP.

Before the rebrand? I was getting way more engagement overall. But my "also viewed" sidebar looked like a personal branding convention.

High numbers, wrong audience.

Now the numbers are small. But 40% of them are the people I actually built ContentIn for.

I'm taking that trade every time.

This is the part nobody talks about when they tell you to niche down. Your metrics will look worse before they look better. Your engagement will drop. Your ego will take a hit.

I gambled 2 years of my product's development.

Here's what happened.

I started building ContentIn when GPT-3 came out. 
Saw the opportunity before most. 
Went all in.

But AI wasn't good enough yet.

I spent months building workarounds and crutches to make it usable. 
Engineering around limitations instead of building what actually mattered.

Then competitors showed up with better timing. 
They built on GPT-4 from day one. 
Better models. More funding. I was retrofitting.

Then Anthropic released Claude 4. 
We rebuilt the entire product on it. 
Night and day. 
That's when things actually started moving.

By now we are one the latest 4.6 models.

Turns out being early just means you're burning cash while the tech catches up.

I'm still here. 5,500 users. 
Still building.

If you're building something right now and feel behind, you might just be early.

The question is whether you're stubborn enough to stay.

I'm the founder of a LinkedIn tool used by 5,500 people.

If you're under $10K MRR and feel like you're failing: you're not. 

You're just in the part nobody posts about.

I don't know what I'm doing most of the time.

And I run a company with 5,500 users.

Most days I'm making decisions I'm not qualified to make.

Pricing. Positioning. What to build next. Whether to hire. Whether to wait.

Nobody teaches you this part.

Every founder course sells strategy but nobody tells you the actual job is sitting alone with incomplete information and making a call anyway.

I used to think successful founders had it figured out.

Then I talked to a few.

They're guessing too.

They just guess faster and move on.

The difference between a founder who makes it and one who doesn't isn't certainty.

It's tolerance for being wrong.

I'm wrong a lot.

I'm still here.
