Do you see less data in GA4 after implementing Consent Mode?

You can fix it in under 1 minute.

Step 1: Make sure Consent Mode v2 is enabled
(This is required for GA4 to use modeling when consent is denied.)

Step 2: Check your Reporting Identity in GA4

↳ Open Google Analytics 4
↳ Go to Admin (bottom-left)
↳ Click Property settings
↳ Navigate to Data display → Reporting identity

You’ll see three options:

⨭ Blended (recommended)
⨭ Observed
⨭ Device-based

✅ Choose 'Blended', because:

Even when users decline consent, Consent Mode v2 sends cookieless pings.
GA4 then uses behavioral modeling to fill the data gaps.

Now your problem should be fixed.

New Google Tag Manager Update 🚩

Before, if you wanted to run Google Tag Gateway behind a first-party domain, you had to:

↳ Use Cloudflare (only automated option)
↳ Or set up a manual CDN / proxy
↳ Configure routing, origins, and SSL yourself

This is not beginner-friendly.
And easy to misconfigure.

Now Google changed it.

Google Tag Gateway is rolling out a Google Cloud Platform integration (Beta) 

You can now deploy Google Tag Gateway inside GCP with one click.

What’s happening under the hood:

⨭ Uses GCP Global External Application Load Balancer
⨭ Automatically sets routing rules for the GTG path
⨭ Forwards gateway traffic to a backend service
⨭ Works directly with GTM & Google tag settings

Why this matters 👀

⨭ Runs Google tags behind a first-party, same-origin host
⨭ More resilient against ITP, ETP & ad blockers
⨭ Cleaner signal delivery vs third-party endpoints
⨭ Less engineering friction than manual setups

Previously:

Shopify quietly changed how pixels receive data 🚩

If you’re running a Shopify store and tracking conversions for ads,
you might already be losing data without realizing it.

Here’s what changed 👇

Before, once a pixel was installed, it received events by default.

Now Shopify has changed that.

Shopify now controls which Customer Events Pixels are allowed to receive data.

If a pixel isn’t explicitly allowed, data can be filtered, delayed or partially blocked without no errors and warnings.


This affects:
⨭ Google Ads
⨭ Meta
⨭ TikTok
⨭ Any platform using Shopify Customer Events

The fix (simple but critical) 👇

⮦ Open each Pixel
⮦ Set data sharing to Always On

I get why people do it.

It worked. Hook with fear. Promise clarity. Show authority. Get attention.

But lately it feels…

Gimmicky. Sales-y. Over-simplified.
Low-effort disguised as expertise.

The truth?

After years of working in ads tracking, GA4, GTM, offline conversions, server-side setups, I genuinely believe in what I share.

Because I’ve seen the same problems over and over:
