The Digital Marketer's Job Title Just Changed (And Nobody Sent a Memo)

I’m 3weeks into building ad optimization engines.

I’m particularly stoked about the engine I’m bootstrapping.

Aside from the usual ad metrics, it reads daily search trends from the web and TikTok. It pulls ad performance from Meta and Google.

Impressions, spend, conversions. Then it looks for patterns across all of them.

The underlying logic is basic economics.

> Impressions are supply. Available attention in the market at a given price.

> Search trends are demand signals. What people are actively looking for right now.

> Conversions tell you where supply and demand are meeting efficiently.

When search demand spikes for a category on Google and TikTok but CPMs on Meta for that same category stay flat, that is a pricing inefficiency.

You are buying attention at yesterday’s price for tomorrow’s demand.

When conversions climb on one platform but cost per impression rises with it, demand has already been priced in.

The arbitrage window is closing.

Most advertisers look at these numbers inside one platform at a time.

They optimize spend against their own campaign history.

That is like setting prices for your store by only looking at your own sales data and ignoring what every other store in the market is charging.

This engine reads across the market.

The goal is not to compete with big tech algorithms. They have more data than I ever will.

The goal is to build a correlation layer on top of their signals.

Meta optimizes for Meta.
Google optimizes for Google.
TikTok optimizes for TikTok.

Nobody optimizes across all three at the same time.

That is where the opportunity sits.

But this is not just about budget allocation.

It also suggests what to do with creatives.
- Which formats to try.
- Which angles to explore.
- What to change based on how platforms like Meta are evolving their ad ranking systems, including how Andromeda now retrieves from a much larger pool of candidate ads before scoring relevance.

The creative strategy has one rule: no rules.

No fixed color palette.
No predetermined tone of voice.
No brand guidelines restricting what gets tested. 

Maximum variation across every dimension.

Most marketers start with assumptions about what their audience wants to see.

Then they test within those assumptions.
Then they optimize within those tests.

Every decision after the first assumption is constrained by it.

I am doing the opposite.

No starting assumptions.
No premature hypotheses.

Let the platforms receive the widest possible range of creative inputs.

Watch what the data surfaces.
Then form conclusions.

Observation first.
Hypothesis second.

I’ll be running this in low budget experiments for a few friends’ businesses.
- No ROI expectations.
- No controlled variables.
- Raw experimentation.

The best way to learn how ad platforms actually behave is to stop assuming you already know and start watching what happens when you remove every constraint.

I will share what I find.

The military has a concept called "commander's intent."

It means: tell your team what success looks like. Don't tell them how to get there.

This is now the most valuable skill in marketing.

Not copywriting.
Not media buying.
Not dashboard building.

The ability to clearly articulate what you want — so an AI system can execute it for you.

In 2026:
75% of marketers are increasing programmatic budgets.
33% are running AI across creative, media, and measurement at the same time.
56% still don't trust the systems enough to let go.

The gap between those who architect and those who execute is widening fast.

Your title might still say "Marketing Manager."
Your actual job is now "Marketing Architect."

What's optional:
↳ Local authorities can suspend work entirely
↳ Decision is jurisdiction-specific

What this means for you:

If your job can be done remotely, your employer should 
allow it for these 3 days.

If your employer insists you come in for a non-essential 
role, they're ignoring MoHRE guidance.

If local authorities suspend work in your emirate, 
employers must comply.

This is not a suggestion. It's official guidance.

Check with your employer today about their plan for 
March 1-3.

A leader who shows up at the bedside.

Not in front of cameras for a statement.
Not behind a podium with prepared remarks.
At the bedside. Sitting with the injured. Speaking to their families.

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited those wounded in the recent attacks on the UAE. His words carried the weight of a nation:

"لا تغشكم الإمارات، ترى الإمارات جلدها غليظ ولحمها مرّ"

Don't let the UAE's beauty fool you. Its skin is thick and its flesh is bitter.

That one line says everything.

We built a country the world admires for its openness, its tolerance, its ambition. Some mistook that for weakness.

They were wrong.

What struck me most wasn't the military response, though our armed forces made us deeply proud.

It was this:

"في الإمارات الكل إماراتي"

In the UAE, everyone is Emirati.

Citizens. Residents. Visitors. Everyone.

Where leaders could divide, ours chose to unite.
Where fear could spread, ours chose to reassure.

He called residents "our guests and our family." That's not diplomacy. That's how this country was raised.

To our armed forces, security teams, medical staff, and every person who stood their ground. Thank you.

To the injured, we pray for your full and speedy recovery.

We will come out of this stronger. That's not hope. That's a promise from the man who leads this nation.

The most powerful leader in the region walked into Dubai Mall two days ago.

No motorcade blocking roads.
No announcement.
No barrier between him and the people.
While the region was tense. While Iran launched attacks. While the world watched.

He walked through the crowd. Sat at a restaurant. Shook hands with an expat from Ghana. Asked him: "Are you happy here?"

Sheikh Hamdan was right beside him.

This wasn't a photo op. This was a message.

"We are here. We are calm. You are safe."

I watched a reel yesterday where someone called him the greatest leader they've ever met. Said world leaders fly to Abu Dhabi to seek his counsel. That when there's a conflict anywhere. Everyone calls the same guy.

And I believe it.

Because real leadership isn't about being unreachable.

It's about walking into a crowded mall during a crisis and making every person there feel like everything is going to be fine.

I'm proud to live under this leadership.
I'm proud my kids are growing up in this country.

This is the UAE.

I used to take rejection personally.

Every no felt like proof I was not good enough.

Then I sat on the other side of the table.

As an HR leader reviewing thousands of applications, I rejected great candidates every single week.

If you knew success was 100 rejections away, you would celebrate every no.

But most people quit at rejection number 3.

I have spent 10 years in HR.

I have rejected thousands of candidates.

I have also hired hundreds.

Here is what separated the ones who got hired from the ones who gave up:

The ones who got hired treated rejection like data.

Every no told them:
↳ Wrong company
↳ Wrong timing
↳ Wrong fit
↳ Wrong role

Not wrong person.

The ones who gave up treated rejection like a verdict.

One no meant they were not good enough.

Two nos meant the market was broken.

Three nos meant they should stop trying.

So they did.

And they stayed stuck.

If you knew your next yes was 100 rejections away, imagine how excited you would be every time you got turned down.

You would track it.

Rejection 47 of 100.
Rejection 68 of 100.
Rejection 99 of 100.

Each one bringing you closer.

But you do not know the number.

So you quit early.

Here is the truth:

Your career is not a test of your talent.

It is a test of how many rejections you can absorb before the yes arrives.

Most people fail that test at rejection number 5.

The ones who succeed keep going.

Not because they enjoy rejection.

Because they expect it.

The community responded.
Blood donation lines stretched out the door.
Friday sermons across the country focused on unity.
People of 200+ nationalities came together.

They didn't leave. They stayed.

This is what happens when a country treats people like family.
They act like family.

10 Resume Mistakes That Got You Auto-Rejected

Your phone is either part of the problem or part of the solution.

Today the UAE proved something the world needs to see.

→ Every threat was intercepted
→ Every official statement was clear and fast
→ Every institution did exactly what it was built to do

But what did some of us do?

→ Shared unverified clips from 2024 as if they were live
→ Forwarded voice notes from "someone who knows someone"
→ Spread casualty numbers that didn't exist

The الهيئة الوطنية للإعلام (National Media Authority) said it best:

"Our media responsibility is shared."
"مسؤوليتنا الإعلامية مشتركة"

Ranked by how much damage it does.

I've been in HR for 10 years.
I've heard it all.

𝟱. "Just apply everywhere."
- Volume doesn't work. Strategy does.
- 50 targeted applications beat 500 random ones.

𝟰. "Your CV should be one page."
- It depends on your experience.
- A 15-year career on one page? 
You're hiding your best work.

𝟯. "Follow your passion."
- Passion doesn't pay rent.
- Follow your skills. Build from there.
- Passion grows when you get good at something.

𝟮. "Just network more."
- Networking without value is begging.
- Share knowledge first. Connections follow contribution.

𝟭. "Wait for the right opportunity."
- The right opportunity doesn't exist.
You build it. One conversation at a time.

Every one of these sounds wise.

Every one of these keeps people stuck.

- Start before you're ready.
- Learn while you earn.
- Build proof, not promises.
