The Madhya Pradesh government signed agreements with Torrent Power, Adani Power, and Hindustan Power for 4,000 MW of electricity generation, involving ₹60,000 crore investment. 

The plants to be set up in Anuppur district on the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate) model and expected to generate power from 2030.

These projects will help to create around 8,000 jobs and ensure 100 percent power availability to meet state demand.

Name of Work: Development of Power Evacuation Infrastructure for 1200 MW Jalaun Solar Park including 400kV/33kV PSS-1, 400kV/33kV PSS-2 (Part-A & Part-B), Internal & External 400kV Power Evacuation Transmission Lines with all EHV Equipments, HV Equipments for Solar Power Pooling, Park Control & Monitoring System and all Electrical, Mechanical, Civil & Structural Items along with 03 years of Comprehensive Operation & Maintenance of the system.

Estimate: ₹614.21 Crore
EMD: ₹6.10 Crore
Completion Period: 16 months

The Public Investment Board (PIB) approved ₹26,069.50 crore for the Kamala Hydroelectric Project (1720 MW) in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh).

This project will be developed jointly by NHPC Limited & State Government. Once completed, it will be capable of generating 6.86 billion units of green energy annually.

The union government approved the fiscal support of ₹2500 crore for the small hydroelectric power (SHP) projects rated up to 25 MW.

The government is aiming to double the installed small hydro power capacity up to 10 GW in the next decade.

Most of the SHPs are canal based or Run-of-River projects, which don't require the dam or huge water storage.

It was 20:45 Hrs on Saturday, weekend mode was ON and when the food arrived, my phone started buzzing.

I was enjoying a peaceful dinner with my family outside.

And, that call was from the control room of the powerhouse, look what happened.

Me: Hello.

Shift Incharge: Sir, Unit No. 02 is rolling at rated speed, but the Field Circuit Breaker is not closing from the control room.

Me: Did you try from the local panel?

Shift Incharge: Yes sir, but it is not working.

Me: Okay, de-roll the unit and put in the breakdown. We’ll be reaching soon.

Call ends.

Silence, a pin drop silence.

Suddenly, every family member starts staring at me.

At that moment, I officially became the villain of the weekend movie. 😄

No arguments. 
No drama.

Just quick calculations in the head, informing seniors, calling team members, and heading straight to the powerhouse, no matter where you are or what you were doing.

That was not an exception.

It is a normal day in the life of maintenance engineers working in essential services.

Fault doesn’t care about your dinner time or party moments.

Failures don’t check calendars.

Hats off to the all engineers, technicians, and operators who quietly keep the lights on, while missing dinners, movies, and weekends.

As on Nov, 2025, The official data shows that total power generation capacioty of India is now 509.74 GW, non-fossil fuel energy contributing 51 percent.

India recorded 104.4 percent of growth since 2014.

The NEP, 2026 aims to achieve the following objectives: 

(1) Financial turnaround and commercial viability of the electricity sector. 

(2) Ensuring adequate availability of power with a reliable and quality supply, while meeting peak demand and energy requirements.

(3) Supply of electricity at competitive prices to achieve the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’. 

(4) Increase the share of non-fossil capacity to achieve the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets. 

(5) Promote competition in the supply of electricity. 

(6) Increase per capita electricity consumption to 2,000 KWh by 2030 and over 4,000 KWh by 2047, ensuring energy efficiency and responsible usage. 

(7) Strengthen grid resilience to enable large-scale RE generation and utilisation, flexible operation, and meet climate adaptation and cybersecurity needs. 

(8) Enhance consumer-centric service and implement demand-side interventions. 

(9) Strengthen the dispute resolution mechanism in the sector to enable faster resolution and reduce financial burden on consumers.
