SEO budgeting in 2026 is shifting from output to influence, I just read on the latest release of one of my favourite newsletters, Growth Memo, by Kevin Indig.

Most marketing leaders are still budgeting for click growth, even though:

- AI Overviews have already cut organic traffic by half
- AI Mode will make most search sessions zero-click
- Visibility no longer equals visits

But...this is the new reality:

- SEO is no longer a spend → output model, it’s rather a capacity → influence system
- Budgets shouldn’t chase traffic but they should build authority and presence in AI-driven discovery

What this means for SEO in 2026?

- Stop asking “How can SEO drive more clicks?”
- Start asking, instead, “What capabilities do we need to earn brand visibility inside AI ecosystems?”

Here are some key shifts for marketing leaders:

- From Traffic-based ROI to Influence-based ROI
- From Keyword rankings to Brand mentions in LLMs
- From Content volume to Information gain and recency
- From Spend-to-scale to Capability-to-compound

"Trust” is quietly becoming the new #SEO power metric.

I just read Duane Forrester's latest piece on Search Engine Journal, and the message is pretty direct: if AI doesn’t trust you, you don’t show up.

Ranking alone doesn’t cut it anymore, for obvious reasons. Brands need recognition + credibility strong enough for machines to pull you into their answers.

In this context, #EEAT isn’t a checklist. It’s the difference between being “searchable” and being “mention-worthy.”

A lot of brand awareness is now happening inside AI tools… where you don’t get referral data. The dark funnel just got darker.

Structured data, clear authorship, updated content, real experience, and external validation are the signals AI actually latches onto.

 To summarize it: your content wins when your expertise is verifiable, your signals are consistent, and your brand is the one AI feels safe citing.

The AI era is rewarding outcomes, not insights.

Kevin Indig’s latest analysis makes the shift undisputably clear: investors poured $227M into AI visibility trackers because dashboards looked like easy SaaS, but the real value sits in tools that actually ship work.

The pattern is obvious:
Monitoring tools → instant onboarding, pretty charts, zero defensibility, negative switching costs.
Agentic SEO platforms → operational depth, workflow automation, brand-grounded context, high switching costs.

One gets you information, the other gets you outcomes.

That’s why “visibility monitoring” is already being commoditized. When every vendor offers the same graph, the moat disappears. 

If you’re investing:

- Follow the friction. High-friction products become moats once integrated.

If you’re building:

 - Insight layers will get bundled away. Execution layers win by becoming the workflow.

For Textbroker I mainly manage the Italian platform and market on both the client and the author side.

On the client side this comprises of:
- offering project management for textwriting;
- engaging in sales activities with team back-up;
- account management;
- offering help with any day-to-day issues as well as client services.

On the author side this means:
- evaluating and rating written texts;
- deal with applications and classifying authors into our different quality levels;
- offering help on a wide variety of themes and grammar issues;
- managing Facebook author communities;
- lead a team of editors.

I furthermore support the other textbroker platforms when needed with administrative and organisational tasks, and for customer and author support in German.

Additional tasks include managing social medias, visiting fairs, engaging in events and directly report results to the management, and translations (German- Italian).

For Textbroker I manage the Italian market on both the client and the author side.

On the client side this comprises of:
- offering project management for textwriting;
- engaging in sales activities with team back-up;
- account management;
- offering help with any day-to-day issues as well as client services.

On the author side this means:
