My role as Business Development Manager was to help bring this amazing, life-saving product to the forefront of new construction projects around the United States. I promoted this new product through trade shows, box lunches, and outreach to major contractors, architects, and property developers. 

Educating key decision-makers of large-scale construction projects on new regulations for emergency egress was key to getting Safe-T-Nose the exposure it needed to become the go-to solution to save lives.

I founded Vesna Group in December of 2010 with the idea to assist start-ups with their sales management strategies. To that end, I developed a sales channel for Va Pues & Zuniga Exports, a produce company based in Nicaragua, helping to organize import operations and determined optimal product mix for the U.S. market. I also created contracts for and managed relationships with sales partners at Va Pues & Zuniga.

Additionally, I consulted a jewelry store that was undergoing a change in management, developed a new sales management strategy, and consulted the new manager on techniques and operational systems to implement.

Shining a light on the ins and outs of solar power.

As a Solar Power Consultant, my role was education first, sales second. Meeting clients in their home, my focus was to make sure future clients had all the information they needed to make the move to solar.  For many clients, the first challenge was overcoming the misinformation about solar and giving them the resources to decide if solar was the right choice for them. Another challenge I successfully faced in this role was keeping up with the ever-changing government incentives, helping clients understand them, and determining if they qualified.

In June 2010, I was hired to restructure one of Calumet’s flagship locations. In this role, I developed a solid action plan to streamline operations. This included re-engineering workflows in rentals, sales, and operations, improving efficiencies, and bringing on more qualified staff to help achieve company goals and expectations.
 
Calumet was experiencing some difficulty in the market, and I was able to maintain the operation of this location as I worked to reintroduce the company to the local photographic community and win back former customers.

As District Manager, I was responsible for hiring, training, and supervising store managers and sales associates for four premium store locations. I was involved in the detailed operations and profitability of the stores, set yearly budgets and goals for the region, and assessed business potential for the acquisition of new stores.

Through the creation of campaigns, I was able to drive sales and provide sales coaching and marketing, which led to improvement for the business despite the difficult economic climate at that time.

There were many tasks under my purview as Business Development Manager at Bang & Olufsen, which ran the gamut from managing relationships with subcontracted installation companies and service centers to being the key point person for ensuring a global marketing plan was implemented.

I was also the key liaison between the national sales office and store owners to create marketing and sales incentives based on field research. Accordingly, I used KPIs and vital statistics to evaluate the current state of business and create an action plan to reach sales goals and utilized a comprehensive CRM system to drive sales by creating campaigns and events that increased repeat customer rate from 28% to over 40%. Through this work, I was able to maintain a 92% sales result to the previous year compared to a national average of 82% national average. 

Additionally, I was involved in the detailed operations and profitability of stores by monitoring P&Ls and creating action plans to reduce costs and targeted sales incentives to increase revenue. Working with independent store owners, I used a comprehensive business assessment program, sales floor observation, and market research to evaluate and elevate their business.


Assessing the business potential for the acquisition of new stores, I grew the territory from 2 to 5 stores, set yearly budgets and goals for those stores based on sales trends, and maximized sales quality by requiring managers to conduct weekly coaching sessions and role-play activities with each of their sales staff.

I’m Brett DeGreen, an explorer in every sense of the word. In 2013, I picked up stakes, sold all my worldly possessions, and moved from the Western U.S. (Denver, CO, by way of San Fran) to a remote village in Nicaragua. I didn’t know the customs, terrain, or language. 

I’m now a sandals and shorts-wearing resident of Costa Rica, but my intrepid nature remains a big part of everything I do. For people who struggle with promoting their businesses, I use my sense of adventure and extensive sales and business development experience to uncover kick-ass content opportunities that inspire and make everyone want to check out what they’re doing.

I put my adventuresome qualities to work for entrepreneurs, CEOs, and professionals to help them develop a foolproof plan to build their businesses. Learning about projects people are passionate about is one of my favorite things. Helping them turn their passions into thriving, valuable businesses is a talent I love sharing.

Connecting entrepreneurs with their clients across cultural differences and creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation is pivotal to my work. I use my pilgrimage encounter and spirit of exploration to illuminate the steps they can take to drive their businesses to new heights. 

So many business owners focus their content on what they can do, and that’s where they stop. Instead, I concentrate on teaching them how to express the why behind their services and show their customer base the full spectrum of benefits behind their work. 

Then there are the business owners who have brilliant ideas but no time to get them out on paper, let alone out into the world. When it’s time to stop relying on referrals and really make a name for your business, it’s time to build a marketing strategy that does the work for you.

When I’m not helping small businesses reach their full potential, you can find me on the beach with my dogs, hiking to the nearest natural wonder, or belly up under the frame of my trusty classic Land Cruiser that I refuse to retire. Or you might catch me hosting a lazy afternoon BBQ, grilling steaks marinated in my world-famous marinade (OK, maybe not WORLD famous, but close). There’s one thing I can promise you: I see the excitement and adventure in everything, and I can help others see it, too.
