In my role as Principal Software Engineer, I  drive with couple of colleagues the standardization of processes, methods, and tools for MB.OS, with a focus on ASPICE V Model compliance (SWE.4, SWE.5, and SWE.6) for hand-coded software. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, I ensure robust development workflows, maintain rigorous documentation, and industry best practices to elevate software quality and consistency. My responsibilities include defining and improving development standards, streamlining toolchains, and providing technical consultancy to drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.

Principal Software Engineer

I work as tech lead of three software developer teams for various automated quality tools in CI/CD (testautomation ecosystem, static code analysis tools, merge request tools) for MB.OS ECUs in Mercedes-Benz Softwarefactory which is hosted in AWS. We work closely with the ECU projects to understand their requirements and adapt the architecture of our tooling according to the needs to ensure the continuous quality of the products. We use different technologies from open source community and closed source to combine them to an ecosystem. We enabled robotics solutions in combination with computer vision techniques to ensure the quality for the enduser interface. Furthermore we enabled the static code analysis with Coverity from Synopsys for code quality. On merge request level we ensure that certain policies are fulfilled before the merge can be done.

I work as product owner and software developer at the same time and create from scratch a dashboard solution to monitor in real time the progress and quality in projects. We integrate data collectors for different data sources like GitLab, Jenkins, Jira to gather data and create predictive dashboards. As frontend we use Grafana. Our dashborad solution is used in the Mercedes-Benz SoftwareFactory as the central tool for data driven decisions in ECU projects. One year after the dashboard project was started I had to change to another software developer team to ramp up the team and lead technically to create from scratch a test automation framework with a CI/CD pipeline in Jenkins. The goal was to provide a framework for the headunit project of Mercedes-Benz for continuous quality. I also supervised couple of master and bachelor theses.

As company we produce consoles for operation rooms for documentation of the operation with video and audio. Furthermore we provide a web application for further processing after the operation of the video and audio material. In this context I work on building a selenium-based test automation framework with CI/CD part in Java and Groovy. Also computer vision techniques take place in the framework. I am involved in the creation of a test specification from requirements. Build up a test infrastructure for continous testing and reporting.

I work on a python based test automation system which is running in a CI/CD system for an embedded application in rail sector for Siemens transportation. We use various open source tools and libraries and computer vision techniques and create a test automation framework. I am directly involved in the negotiations with the customers and plan the projects techincally. I am leading a team of engineers in a big project for Siemens transportation. I work  in a team which creates the validiation reports for the german regulatory authorities for different train models/generations. I perform also codereviews for safety relevant (SIL 2) code parts of the customer applications.

As company we work for Airbus in Bremen mainly. I am involved in different projects for developing software. One of my projects is a research project funded by the EU and Airbus together with 70 other companies to optimize the wings with using computer vision techniques. The project is called "Clean Sky" and is targeting to minimize the fuel consumption of the plane by optical measuring of the micro deformations on the surface of the wings. I am developing the camera control of the wing cameras and also the algorithm of the evaluation software. In another project I built up a test automation framework which is Java based for a Java based application. I work also in a low level hardware integration project which is safety-relevant.

System Engineer

After my PhD in theoretical elementary particle physics I started as software engineer in test and developed couple of test automation frameworks over time in different sectors like aeronautics, rail, healthcare, automotive. My passion is to discover new technologies and methodologies to automate software tests as much as possible. I love to solve seemingly intractable problems :) and need always a challenge. Learning new things is one of my key strength combined with fully self-organizing results in amazing outcomes :)

In my spare time I am very much interested in IoT systems, home automation topics, raspberry pi based projects, ESP32 based projects, embedded systems, computer vision with opencv, machine learning on embedded systems, sensors, data analytics, robotics, APIs, software architecture topics, design pattern and open source projects.
