Happening after 30 years, the historic Summit convened by The United Nations General Assembly, with the Government of Qatar as the host, was focused on bringing together leaders to accelerate progress on social development!

For AI to be people centric, safe, equal and accessibility for all, we must work on creating frameworks, policies and councils that keep sustainability, people, planet and opportunity at the centre of every discussion.

How we can redefine progress to reflect well-being, equity, and sustainability beyond GDP?

This is what we talked about during the panel at this essential solution session on “The Emerging Pathways Beyond GDP: Presentation of the High-Level Expert Group’s Emerging Recommendations and Intergenerational Dialogue with Youth Moving Beyond GDP” at WSSDII in Doha!

It was a pleasure to represent the Youth Network on Beyond GDP and share the recommendations, deeply rooted in inclusion, sustainability, and people.

And what an honor to share the stage and interact with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed Ma’am, H.E. Yorleny León Marchena, Minister of Human Development & Social Inclusion, Republic of Costa Rica, Ms. Nora Lustig and Mr. Kaushik Basu, Co-Chairs of the UN Secretary-General's High- Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP, and our lovely moderators Özge Aydogan and Ricardo Fuentes-Nieva!

Through our intergenerational conversation, we dived deep into focusing on creating spaces, solutions, building a world and opportunities for everyone, so that no one is left behind, solutions are truly sustainable, and go beyond economic output alone.

This event was co-organised by the UN High-Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP and The Beyond Lab at UN Geneva, in collaboration with: Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Ministry of Youth and Sport, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General (EOSG), and Rethinking Economics.

A pleasure to share my intervention at International Telecommunication Union’s Solution session on Connectivity for Social Justice and Inclusive Sustainable
Development at the WSSDII!

The panel & session navigated through bridging digital divides by expanding universal and meaningful connectivity, with a focus on promoting rights-based, safe, and inclusive digital environments that uphold human dignity and social justice!

My intervention was focused on re-iterating these solutions and approaches, while highlighting how connectivity, as a term, has expanded in its reach to connection to opportunity, to voice, and to community. 

Thus, it is essential for connectivity to be closely worked on to build social justice in every space. And young people, need to be at the centre, leading this action!:)

1 in 6 people globally face loneliness today.
An alarming stat, and a deeply alarming reality.

One that we must focus on. That’s what we talked about at this important side event held at the Second World Summit for Social Development.

We talked about how social connection is the foundation for inclusive social development, towards a world that is more equitable, inclusive, & empowering for all.

My remarks were focused on how social disconnect shows up silently, sometimes so quietly that most people miss it.

Additionally, I shared how educational institutions play a crucial role in building safe spaces for conversation on mental health & for building social connection amongst young minds.
