For ten years, in collaboration with ASAE staff and Fellows, I served as the designer and lead facilitator for this signature three-day leadership conference for approximately 50-75 early-career association professionals. Consistently received superior evaluations for delivering an educational experience that was "thought-provoking, engaging, challenging, practical, and fun."

During five-year period increased revenues 300% and established a national reputation for innovative program design.  As co-founder provided primary leadership to leading our internal team and growing the business while also directly consulting with and servicing 40+ clients annually.

As Education Director, I coordinated Annual Meeting for this trade association of men’s fraternities, as well as multiple topical summits, and multiple sessions of week-long summer leadership institute for college student leaders, helping design content and curriculum and manage all related logistics.  In addition, regularly collaborated with colleagues and volunteers to create leadership development resources and publications, including serving as graphic designer for many of them. As Executive Director, I served as COO for organization, overseeing staff functional areas including meetings and conferences, publications and resource development, and public relations and advocacy.  Consistently grew attendance in all conferences coordinated while achieving superior budget performance.

Served as primary dean of students staff member supporting and providing leadership to Iowa State University's fraternity and sorority community consisting of more than 4000 undergraduate members and 64 individual chapters. Supervising two graduate assistance and two undergraduate advisors. Designed leadership resources and led leadership training sessions to help undergraduate and alumni chapter leaders improve the performance of their chapter's and ensure they contributed to positive learning experiences for their members.  Directly advised Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council officers.

While pursuing master's degree, served as (1) graduate residence hall advisor and (2) graduate assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs. After attaining degree served for two years as an activities advisor in the campus activities office, primarily working with fraternities and sororities, as well as general leadership development for all student organizations and their officers and advisors.

Following association executive and university student affairs staff positions, I have been a leadership educator and organizational development consultant, speaker, and facilitator for more than 25 years. My work is regularly evaluated as “insightful, engaging, thought-provoking, and practical.” 

As President and CEO of Facilitate Better, my current passion is helping individuals and organizations build their competence and confidence to facilitate better discussions, decisions, and results in meetings and to accelerate learning and community in workshops and conferences.  I do a very limited number of facilitation workshops, train-the-trainer sessions, and keynotes each year.

I'm also an award-winning author having published dozens of leadership articles in association publications, as well as several scholarly journal articles and book chapters.
