This is a bittersweet post to write.

After a lot of reflection, I’ve decided to close Extra Mile early next year.

Building it has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my career and life.
It taught me what it really feels like to build without a brand behind you. 
To sell, deliver, educate, and stand on your own — especially in a market as diverse and demanding as the UAE.

There were proud moments.
There were challenges I didn’t see coming.

And there were lessons I’ll carry for a very long time:
• That credibility is earned one conversation at a time  
• That not every client is the right client  
• And that entrepreneurship forces a level of clarity you can’t get anywhere else

But over the last months, something shifted.
I realised this chapter had done its job.
I had reached the limit of what Extra Mile was meant to teach me — and a new path was quietly taking shape.

So yes, I’m closing Extra Mile.
Not because it didn’t work.
But because my next step requires all of me.

I won’t reveal the details yet.
But it’s a move that blends everything I’ve built so far — sales, marketing, operations — into a role with more impact, more responsibility, and more growth than I’ve had in years.

For now, I simply want to say thank you...

If you don’t plan your time, someone else will own it.

A coach from CCL once told me the only conference that consistently filled rooms with C-suites was about… getting things done.

Not strategy.  
Not leadership.  
Not innovation.

Time.

Because without control of your time, you can’t control anything else.

The mistake?  
We treat planning like overhead.  
We treat action like progress.  
But without a map, “action” is just movement.

Try these 5 shifts:

1) Track your time for one week — the truth is eye-opening.  
      → Clockify was amazing for me and it is free

2) Block calendar slots for what actually matters.  

3) Protect daily and weekly review rituals.  

4) Rebuild your to-do workflow with GTM methodology instead of carrying yesterday forward.  

5) Prioritise using the Eisenhower matrix — no excuses.

If you want to think long-term, start managing short-term with intent.

2025 has brought me full circle in life with moderating online panels and talks.

Being able to communicate in multiple languages and listening to non verbal communications has been a great skill and a personal strength. 
Having a job profile where speaking was the pre- requisite took me on a personal journey from selling space for a Business Directory , to working in a market research company as a focus group moderator in multiple languages, for more than 13 years leading to the noble profession of teaching for the next 18 years, the progress was slow and gradual.
But ,then I am a late bloomer.
Speaking has landed me in a ,voice only', space with Mentza where I enjoy listening , text chatting and being able to talk in a safe space.
Speaking on Mentza with focus on Inclusion helps voice concerns for a society which is same for every being. 
Converting a hobby into social work  and founding a community of more than 500 buddies across couple of countries -Save Scrap& Sew continuing on its 10th year as 'Planet Tomorrow', ,has been my way of giving back to the country ,The UAE , I have called home for more than 34 years. It brings an added happiness to know we buddies saved more than 12 and half tons of fabric scrap from the landfill. 3700 sheets, 5800 bags and 5800 pillows are making the people who need them happy. 
 
 Using social media and marketing knowledge in creating awareness to save the landfill from cloth scraps and helping the deserving with products made from scraps has become a personal mission.

This paved the path further to becoming an entrepreneur and partner in Sew A Gift (www.sewagift.com) Mentoring Doctoral students (DBA) with Swiss Management Centre, SMC was happening simultaneously (June 2015-November 2018). 

Interacting with students, sharing innovative ideas and knowledge, exchanging marketing information and using AI tools for analysis acts as an elixir for my passion of being a teacher, a facilitator & a communicator.

Shambavi's Spectrum ( www.shambavisspectrum.com) is my platform for sharing my marketing insights and consulting people who want to delve deeper into their business to leverage Owned Media.
Becoming a start up mentor is exciting and gives me new challenges everyday to think of how I can add my knowledge to others dreams and help them realize it.
