In 2018 the 107-year-old KU12 ended up in Workum, where a refit turned out to be no longer enough. That is why in 2020 a major restoration has started in which a lot of wood is to be replaced. 

In addition to the restoration, the Foundation also wanted to make the Punter more sustainable and improve the sailing characteristics. That is why the Foundation has contacted NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden to help with this. The research on the KU12 is as follows: How can a modern and efficient sailing Punter be made of the 107-year-old KU12?
In order to answer this research question, a large number of sub-questions have been drawn up. For example, the Foundation wanted to know whether it is possible to use a liftable pod motor, in addition, an efficient propellor had to be calculated. The rudder had to be changed so that the KU12 would have better manoeuvring capabilities. In addition, there are a number of other questions about the stability and lay-out of the KU12.

During my internship at De Vries Makkum (Feadship) I worked for six weeks in different departments within the company. I worked at the interior-, exterior- and stainless steel department.

Growing up in The Netherlands, surrounded by the lakes and the seas, Guy Fleury’s passion for the water, sailing and yachts developed from a young age. This is the reason why Guy chose to study Naval Architecture in Leeuwarden. The study in combination with sailing is a good inspiration for the photos that he takes.

Guy is an all-round photographer, he is specialised in exterior-, interior-, lifestyle- and building process photos. It is not only photography that plays an important role in his work, but also the making of company films, instruction films and time-lapses.

Fotografie is de basis van onze werkzaamheden, zowel op locatie als in de studio (100 m2). Wij hebben meer dan 30 jaar ervaring in fotografie voor een zeer breed scala aan opdrachtgevers uit de agrarische-, industriële-, maritieme, en zorgsector. Tevens werken wij voor diverse overheden en instellingen.

Door de verregaande digitalisering is in principe alles mogelijk, maar aan de basis van elke media-productie staat natuurlijk kwalitatief hoogstaand beeldmateriaal. Met onze jarenlange kennis en ervaring, maar ook met de beste top-apparatuur kunnen wij daarvoor zorgen.

Naast fotografie is video-productie een belangrijk onderdeel geworden van onze werkzaamheden. Producties voor bedrijven en instellingen, maar ook documentaires over zeer uiteenlopende onderwerpen. Uiteraard worden de opnames gemaakt en gemonteerd met behulp van eigen, professionele opname- en editing apparatuur. Daarom kunnen wij produceren voor een scherpe prijs en zijn het geen standaard-producties.

Verder hebben wij een ruim aanbod aan stemmen (voice-over's) in vele talen en een uitgebreid muziek-archief. Kortom voor elke productie de juiste "toon".

Ben je op zoek naar indrukwekkende landschappen, rust, ruimte, het goede leven, en een tikkeltje avontuur, en wil je dat combineren met je hobby fotografie, dan is Nieuw Zeeland de juiste reisbestemming.
Het licht en het weer kunnen snel veranderen door het zeeklimaat en de luchtstromen die tegen de hoge gebergten opstuwen. De landschappen zijn imposant en indrukwekkend. Alles is aanwezig: van eeuwige sneeuw tot tropisch regenwoud, en van prairies tot fjorden. Na mijn derde bezoek realiseerde ik me dat je als fotograaf hier helemaal kunt uitleven, en bedacht ik me dat het een goed idee zou zijn om exclusieve fotoreizen te organiseren. Mijn kennis als professioneel fotograaf en mijn kennis van dit land zijn hiervoor een uitstekende combinatie. Deze kennis deel ik graag met anderen die houden van reizen, avontuur en van fotograferen.

Fotografie en Video-producties, voor grote en kleine bedrijven, instellingen en overheden, is al meer dan 40 jaar onze "business" .
