Leading a demand generation practice complete with a HubSpot revamp in the middle of an economic turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Against all the odds my team managed to deliver the highest number of qualified leads in company's history after only 60 days; simplify and fine-tune the messaging making it genuinely compelling, and build from scratch a top-notch marketing automation strategy.

I could blame the virus for making this gig short, but it was intense and worth learning from two industry-recognised thought leaders. Thank you for the ride, Mario & Bernie!

This ambitious SaaS start-up had a super innovative go-to-market model, outpacing most of its competitors. Joined to lead the marketing team and to steer up processes and results: renewed brand identity and value proposition to appeal big enterprise CIOs & CTOs; wholly redesigned company website, doubling the conversion: 4.5 to 11%.

But perhaps the most rewarding achievement was to turn around the audience for our YouTube channel. From a handful of views to thousands every month, from a 90% male audience to almost 50-50%. Meaning we tapped into a previously unserved segment: female software engineers and testers, who felt identified and empowered by both our content and our anchor. Gender equality starts with the content you create!

Bitbar was acquired in Aug 2019 by SmartBear; I led the integration process. Including marketing automation and CRM technology migration, funnels, processes and roles & responsibilities. Ultimately ramping down marketing operations in Finland.

PowerVision Robot Corporation

Selling drones, sounds cool, huh? 
That’s precisely what I thought when joining this Chinese start-up with really innovative products that broke the mould of what you think a drone is.

- Created a B2B strategy to develop retail partners and sell-out tactics, managing C-level relationships with partners in the UK, France and Spain.

- Developed and implemented the content strategy that boosted reach and social media engagement by 10X.

Unfortunately, the global drone market is overwhelmingly dominated by one giant brand with the ability to crush competitors singlehandedly and left after marketing operations ramped down in Europe.

Three years ago, I ran a series of 30 lessons that I had learnt over the years. 
 
Now I'm revisiting all of them to find out if, despite crises, AI explosion, economic shifts, etc., they're still valid.

Closing the gap...


There's an important mismatch between what the education system in Finland is teaching and the needs/expectations from companies of new graduates.

More clear than that couldn’t be. That's one of the conclusions – amongst many other frightening ones – the Closing the Experience Gap research carried out by Deloitte Finland and Demos Helsinki presented yesterday evening.

Big part of the problem is the rigid system and structures in place. 

Solutions?

Lari Hintsanen from Deloitte proposed one radical but necessary approach:

	• A TOTAL revamp of the whole education - workforce way of working. Which cannot be possible unless public, private and 3rd sector aligns towards the same direction. 

	• Investing in the foundation of meta skills: creativity, critical thinking, learning agility, adaptability, resilience.

	• Finland is great at technical skills, we all know the insinöörikansa talk. Now it's much more needed to over-index the commercial mindset > how to sell, how to market the great things engineers create. 

	• Companies should stop hiring for knowledge fit and start hiring for potential, with the soft skills at the top. 

My only concern: how likely a radical change is possible in a country where the uncertainty avoidance acts as cultural brake?
