Secret Sessions started as a YouTube channel featuring 100s of artists, from Bastille to Kacey Musgraves and Ben Howard. This grew into a live event that took artists like Arlo Parks and Mahalia to venues such as Soho Farmhouse and The H.Club.

We now focus on developing the next wave of talent through Artist Development programs and coaching.

The F List for Music

The F-List helps female and gender minority musicians overcome structural barriers by facilitating training and profile and professional opportunities.

The brainchild of equality and diversity campaigner Vick Bain, The F-List is an online resource that lists artists, bands, songwriters and composers who identify as female. Initially uploaded as a sprawling online spreadsheet, Bain has re-launched it as a fully searchable, not-for-profit website. 

The aim of the directory is to improve representation of women at all levels of the industry – from session musicians and arrangers, to producers and festival headliners. The initiative has already gained support from partners such as SWIM (Scottish Women Inventing Music) and Independent Venue Week and ambassadors such as Be Charlotte.

BalconyTV is a leading daily online viral music show that features bands, musicians and other variety acts on balconies around the world.
I was brought into to manage full production of the London Balcony, this role involved finding the location, assembling a team of camera operators, sound, presenters. For over a year we produced and uploaded 7 shows a week (one every day!) with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Beardyman and many more.

Harriet Jordan-Wrench

I turned down an all-expenses-paid trip to SXSW this year. Not because I wasn't grateful. Not because I don't value what it represents…

Two reasons:

The first: I'm not spending money in America right now.

There are people I love there. People I admire deeply. Some of the most brilliant minds in music are based in the US.

But I vote with my pound. And the current political system does not reflect those people or their values. Pretending it's possible to separate commerce from politics in 2026 is either naive or convenient.

It's no longer acceptable to say "I don't do politics." Look around. The world is burning. Everything is political. And everything political is harder for minorities, harder for women, and harder for anyone who doesn't fit the default template of who gets to build things.

The second reason is this photograph.

That's me. That's my daughter, who turned one last week. That's 7 minutes before the SXSW application deadline.

I applied, I was selected, I was excited to go.

The scheme told me they'd be "flexible within reason." It was 8 days. I couldn't go for fewer. I couldn't bring someone to help with her. It simply wasn't compatible with my life right now.

That's fine. I'm not complaining.

What I am saying is this: anyone who tells you that women and men have equal access to opportunities like this is not being honest with you.
Most men in my position apply, get on the plane, send the postcard.

A woman with a one-year-old does the maths, realises the infrastructure doesn't bend, and declines.

International Women's Day asks us to celebrate progress. I think we also need to be honest about where the gaps still live - not in the grand gestures, but in the small prints. The "within reason." The 8-day minimums. The networking events at 7pm that assume you have someone at home.

Progress isn't just policy. It's the quiet decisions that don't get made because the conditions aren't equal.

I turned down SXSW. I'd do it again.

Stand for something, or spend your platform on nothing.

Additional masterclasses at Accademia Chigiana with Bruno Giuranna, Jeunesse Musicales Deutschland’s Weikersheim Chamber Music Campus, and the Beethovenhaus Bonn.
Subsequent debuts at festivals including MiTo and Trame Sonore (Mantova Chamber Music Festival). Tours of France and South Korea.
Two live radio performances at Capella Paolina in the Quirinale presidential palace in Rome; multiple live radio performances for RaiRadio3 Suite “La stanza della musica”; two CDs released.

Mariechristine Lopez is a violinist who through her art as musical storyteller, evokes emotions through sound.

Known for the warmth and vivacity of her interpretations, her repertoire purposefully spans different periods of time and has been shaped by her fascination for discovering other cultures, understanding the nuances of composers’ languages, and experiencing universal emotions by the power of music.

Mariechristine debuted as soloist playing Alban Berg’s Chamber Concerto at Auditorio Stelio Molo with Arturo Tamayo conducting the Ensemble900 of Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana and has since performed solo recital programs in Switzerland and Italy, most recently for Società dei Concerti di Trieste. As chamber musician, she has performed with musicians including Fazil Say, Robert McDuffie, Hsin-Yun Huang, Peter Wiley, and Simone Gramaglia.

Her live performances as soloist and chamber musician have been broadcast on Swiss (Radio Svizzera Italiana) and Italian (Rai Radio3) radio.

Following studies with Ruggiero Ricci in Palm Springs and Salvatore Accardo at the Stauffer and Chigiana academies, Mariechristine obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees under Massimo Quarta at the CSI of the SUPSI in Switzerland. She has also studied in the subsequent years with Rudens Turku.
