I am responsible for the ICAAP financial modelling of the European regulated entities, along with business performance reporting, analysis and forecasting for RBC Capital Markets in Europe.

One of my key focus areas in 2020 has been on IFRS 9 credit provisioning, particularly as we move through a recessionary period. This opportunity has led me to become one of the subject matter experts within Finance. I have developed insightful materials on this topic from both an educational and an ongoing financial reporting perspective, that is presented regularly to our Board and the PRA. 

Part of my mandate includes being the finance business partner for the European Global Equities business.

Business Performance Analyst

NewDay

I had financial ownership of approximately £150m cost base:
   - marketing costs – costs to acquire and maintain NewDay customers
   - salary and benefits (S&B) – employee costs and execution of organisation design
   - partner payments – the costs to our “co-brand” partners, including the calculation of each Co Brand P&L.

•	Accountable for the whole finance task on these areas: month-end accounting, budgeting and monthly forecasting, and their corresponding management information reporting, variance analysis and audits. 

•	My role was enlarged in both responsibility and team size gaining further commercial experience. This resulted in taking on partner payments and a view of the entire Co Brand P&L and payment process.

•	Business partnered with the Commercial and HR teams, and all leaders across the Executive team and Directors of the organisation, in order to provide ongoing scenario analysis, organisational restructure assessment, and finance process improvements. 

•	Led, from a resource costing perspective, several organisation wide restructures and the setup and delivery of the Value Creation Plan. This brought me into on-going interaction with the Executive team, Senior Leaders and Project Managers across the organisation.

•	Supported the reassessment of strategic initiatives with an online retailer to generate increased profitability and cost reductions.

•	Led a project to improve the accrual methodology across 6 of my cost areas. This involved working with over 25 people across the Commercial side of the business, creating a controlled ongoing process that drives accuracy in the ledger, helping the Leadership team to manage their budgets.

•	I became an accredited “Anaplanner”, the cloud based planning software tool. This involved designing, testing and implementing models related to areas within my remit.

•	Managed a team providing: coaching, supporting their development and helping them to achieve their objective

Senior Commercial Cost Manager

VIVUS UK

As with many start-ups, V7 had to stop operating shortly after I joined the company. Over my short time there, I enhanced the finance team’s understanding of the primary system of record and automated future accounting processes, improving accuracy in reporting and decision making. This delivered comfort on the integrity of the system of primary record.

•	Deep-dive analysis on the loan management system, ensuring its accuracy for interest charging and revenue recognition. I set up a clear and logical accounting process, for efficient and effective management reporting

•	Implemented effective interest rate and associated provisioning based reporting for management and statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP, fully automating the process for month-end reporting

•	Following sudden closure of V7’s primary payment service provider processing multi-million pound payments, confirmed no cash loss to the business

•	Post company closure - loan portfolio future cash flow projections to inform the debt sale negotiations

•	Initial development of cash curves to facilitate vintage profitability monitoring

Finance Manager

Ford Motor Credit Company

This role demanded strong and effective excel modelling, analytical and communication skills, explaining complex treasury financial models, debt types and theory in a comprehendible way to audiences with different levels of understanding, including advising senior management and presenting at Executive level committees

•	Led project to centralise the borrowing cost forecast, freeing resource across FCE’s European branches whilst improving understanding and accuracy in the forecast. It became a benchmark for future centralisation projects across the finance division

•	To support the project, I built dynamic models used for forecasting and stress testing, including a variance analysis process for month-end. I regularly presented the forecast and variance to the wider finance team

•	Built a model to forecast the cost of FCE’s many securitisation platforms, working with the securitisation front office and operation teams to learn the intricacies of each facility
	
•	Forecasted debt spreads through analysing debt and capital markets, bond issuances, secondary markets, securitisation deals, indices and the economic and political environment, ensuring accuracy in forecast

•	Ran month-end reporting for Treasury ensuring funding costs, rates and notional value of all funding were accurately calculated and presented to senior management

•	Ad hoc work to fully support all teams within the entire Finance community, including creating presentations for investors and rating agencies, supporting tax audits, and ownership of our South Africa JV funding plan

Senior Treasury Analyst

•	Co-ordinated and executed many unsecured bond issuances and bilateral loans, working with FCE’s Treasurer and Executive Directors, lead banks and internal and external legal teams, to get the funding through the door. 

•	Managed the renewal and drawdown process of a syndicated revolving credit facility

•	Re-designed the borrowing pricing spreads model ensuring the recovery of borrowing costs in FCE’s product pricing. Gained pricing approval from the Pricing Committee during a continuous turbulent market. The model was used to calculate spreads for all forecasts and stress tests

•	Supervised bank guarantee process, giving guidance to the Treasurers of FCE and of Ford or Europe

Funding and Pricing Analyst

•	Produced many management information reports and presentations that supported Executive decision making, including at the company’s Board meetings

•	Ownership of receivable forecasting, working closely with European branches and senior management to gain agreement on asset performance - presented this at the ALCO

•	Supported monthly profit forecast, Business Plan and Budget

•	Worked cross-functionally with the commercial business teams to determine physical performance drivers to support ground up forecasts

•	Produced vital monthly finance slides highlighting FCE’s current financial performance and future outlook. The CFO presented this to the Global group, offering regular interaction with him. Building this relationship led me to running and chairing a monthly meeting with the CFO for all Finance Managers across FCE’s European branches and leadership team in Central Office

•     European lead for a global project, working with multiple teams across EMEA, AP, NA and LATAM. It required effective co-ordination and control to ensure that timings were met, along with developing my understanding of FCE’s products and cost allocation methodologies.

Financial Analyst

•	In depth involvement in monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting under both US GAAP and IFRS. Became interim supervisor, responsible for ensuring the team had completed its objectives 

•	Extensive involvement in statutory reporting. Responsible for large segments of the annual and interim report, owning the Group Cash Flow, Income Statement and many notes. 

•	Led the acquisition accounting project when FCE acquired a Swiss entity using my strong understanding of group consolidation accounting principles. My involvement was recognised by the CFO and the rest of the leadership team by being awarded a prestigious Finance reward

I am proficient in Hyperion Financial Management having launched and implemented this accounting consolidation software across FCE, including the training of my colleagues. I am proficient with PeopleSoft and have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
