I got news this month that stopped me in my tracks: I’ve been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for one of my poems.

I’m still letting those words settle.

Writing has always been the thing I reach for when nothing else makes sense—since I was a kid scribbling lines in the margins of everything. I never imagined any of it would travel far beyond my own hands. So to have a piece recognized in this way… it’s overwhelming in the best, strangest, most grounding way.

I’m grateful to the publisher who believed in this poem, to the writers who kept me moving without ever knowing they were doing it, and to the people in my life who tell me to keep going, even on the days when the words feel heavy or jagged or late.

Mostly, I’m just honored. Truly.

Thank you for reading my work, for holding space for it, and for holding space for me. It means more than I can express.

I've spent every single holiday dinner for the past 10 years or so trying to help my relatives understand the basics of what I do for a living. Some of my favorite summaries so far have been:

Here's the gist: I'm a full-time freelance writer who specializes in creating long-form online content (primarily blog posts and ebooks) for software clients in the careers, human resources, productivity, project management, and business ownership spaces.

I have a knack for writing content that's approachable, conversational, and engaging but simultaneously ranks well in SERPs (go ahead and Google "SMART goals" or "STAR interview method" if you need proof 😉).

👀 Here are a few very unglamorous truths from the start of my freelance career:


✔️ I regularly panic-applied for part-time jobs at Petco and Barnes & Noble

✔️ I spent hours entering a shoebox full of business cards into a spreadsheet for $15 per hour because I needed the money

✔️ I worked for YEARS (I think four or five?) before hitting six figures

✔️ I wrote blog posts about storage unit insurance and fish finders

✔️ I wrote resumes for a very shady online company for $25 each
