Co-founder of startup that built award-winning web-based social customer relationship management (CRM) application Bantam Live. Principal software architect for the modular, Ruby on Rails -based subscription service. Hired and managed development team, created development workflow and practices, and established deployment environment structure and operations. Company acquired in February 2011 by Constant Contact, Inc.

Created web applications in both a consulting role and as stand-­alone ventures. Developed and maintained custom content management frameworks on top of both LAMP-stack and Ruby web platforms. Projects included EventSpan.com, WebinarWire.com, KeyPeopleDirectory.com, ConferencingNews.com. Clients included Cadbury Schwepps, Pusser’s Rum, The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and Alternative Investment Group.

Over the years, I've been lucky enough to work, fail, and succeed with world-class creatives, engineers, marketers, and execs. I deeply understand what it takes to efficiently align people behind inventing, developing, scaling, and cultivating exceptional software products.

Today, I'm harvesting this experience to build and grow Steady, a simple approach to asynchronously coordinating work for software product orgs. Steady implements an open-source set of principles for modern knowledge work called Continuous Coordination, which I helped to create with my colleagues at Steady and other tech leaders.

techniques for problem framing, user research, product discovery and solution delivery across multiple work streams. Facilitated success for team members in their design work and professional goal attainment.
• Led design of innovative AI-based recommendation engine for the marketing vertical. Translated AI predictions on impact of marketing spend across channels into intuitive UI.
• Promoted and evangelized the use of Accenture’s Design System, “Groove”. Worked with Dev Lead to standardize frameworks and components. Established and iterated process for maintaining and evolving Design System across teams and products.
• Facilitated Agile UX test and learn cycles in order to de-risk building unnecessary or unwanted features and improve upon proposed solutions.
• Brought a product lens to design work: leveraged devs, users and other stakeholders in understanding problems and envisioning/designing/testing/delivering valuable, usable solutions.

• Oversaw the design and user research for Adaptly’s flagship product, Go. Guided the user experience through multiple growth stages, from a small reporting website to a real-time control center for ad campaigns across multiple ad platforms.
• Designed interfaces that leveraged increasingly automated spending algorithms, based on the partner platforms’ ML and AI systems.
• Introduced Agile UX collaborative techniques to involve multiple stakeholders in key product development touchpoints, including ideation, story validation, prototype testing and release feedback.
Instituted regular user shadowing sessions for Product and Dev Leads, so that we all stayed connected to our users’ real world experiences with an increasingly complex product.
Introduced user behavior instrumentation (Full Story) into our product to allow for PMs and Devs to remotely watch users interact with our product. This made it possible to quickly identify pain points, deconstruct bug reports, and surface opportunities for improvement in the user experience.
• Facilitated company-wide in-person activities during annual “summits”: created spaces for previously unconnected employees to find and learn from others.

• Managed a team of 2-5 UX/Interaction Designers on a broad array of projects in the areas of banking, travel, fashion, consumer electronics and tourism
• Led the Interaction Design team on a the first fully responsive, ADA-compliant travel booking site for Chase-JPMorgan. Assumed Product Owner responsibilities as the timeline was shortened, leading daily stand-ups, sprint planning and design studio sessions.
• Conducted metrics and heurisitc analyses for other client products integrating Google Analytics, CrazyEgg click tracking, individual user testing and heuristic analysis. Formed hypotheses around product improvements based on patterns found across various facets of the analysis.

• Grew the UX team from 2 to 8 designers, building the discipline, matching the right people to
projects, guiding process and contributing to strategic/creative direction.
• Acted as Lead UX Designer and Product Owner on a highly efficient Agile team to produce a best
in class iPad app for Oppenheimer Funds (Global Tracker) on a very aggressive timeline of several months. Through the collaborative effort of this team, we brought about $1M of organic growth
to the agency as well as an OMMA award for Best Integrated Campaign.
• Worked with teams to create prototypes of various levels of fidelity for frequent user testing in order to validate UX and design ideas. This process led to more shared understanding with the teams and better user outcomes.
• Used quantitative metrics to identify problems (and successes) with experiences and in-person testing to understand why people were or were not doing what we wanted/expected.
• Coached teams in how to work in a more Agile way, introducing multiple techniques such as daily stand-up status meetings (Scrum), usage of a task wall (Kanban), Story Mapping, Design Studio and Pragmatic Persona development. These collaborative tools decreased unnecessary emails and unproductive meetings, and led to much faster output.

I have managed designers for over 10 years in small and large organizations across a variety of verticals. My focus has been on product design for startups, including Adaptly's flagship product, which was instrumental in that company's sale to Accenture in 2018.

At Accenture I managed a team of 10 designers working on internal and external facing products. Under my leadership, we were able to effectively service our internal clients, providing high quality designs for a fraction of what they would have had to pay external agencies.

More recently, at RapidSOS I oversaw the design of their emergency response software which was installed in 93% of 911 centers in the US. I also led the design of their Safety Monitoring product, which facilitated the onboarding of multiple paying clients in that business vertical.

Currently, I am leading the design effort at a zero to one startup in the medical training space, leveraging XR technology to reduce costs and improve training outcomes for healthcare professionals.
