As Manager Internal Audit at Dawate Hadiyah (Pakistan) Trust, I am responsible for developing annual audit plans that align with the organization’s objectives, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements. I lead internal audits, ensuring thorough examination of financial records, transactions, and operational processes in accordance with established audit methodologies.

My role involves identifying potential risks and control weaknesses through systematic evaluations of internal controls, financial data, and operational procedures. I analyze audit findings to assess their impact on the organization’s objectives, providing recommendations for corrective actions to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

I evaluate compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies governing financial management, reporting, and governance. In addition to maintaining accurate audit documentation in compliance with professional standards, I collaborate with stakeholders to implement audit recommendations and monitor progress towards remediation of identified issues.

This role allows me to contribute to strengthening the organization's internal controls and governance while ensuring effective risk management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

As an Assistant Manager Internal Audit at AGI Denim, I played a key role in developing and implementing internal audit plans in alignment with the company's risk management strategy. My primary responsibilities included leading and conducting internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes across various departments. I was responsible for preparing Terms of Reference (TOR) and creating risk-based audit programs tailored to specific organizational needs.

I identified potential areas of risk and improvement opportunities, providing actionable recommendations for mitigating risks and improving operational efficiency. Additionally, I monitored the implementation of management’s corrective actions to ensure audit recommendations were addressed effectively.

I prepared detailed audit reports and communicated the findings and recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making. My role also required staying updated on changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure alignment with the latest internal audit processes.

I conducted both pre- and post-audits of key processes, including procurement, payment vouchers, payroll, and Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS). Additionally, I audited supplier invoices and cash payments, ensuring compliance with financial policies and internal controls.

During my CA Articleship at Crowe Hussain Chaudhury & Co. Chartered Accountants, I had the opportunity to work across multiple departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of various financial and accounting functions. My experience included:

1. Tax Department: I assisted in preparing tax returns for individual and corporate clients, ensuring compliance with tax regulations. I conducted tax audits and helped clients optimize their tax positions through strategic planning and effective utilization of available tax incentives.

2. Accounting & Outsource Department: I was involved in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and the management of outsourced accounting services for clients. I gained experience in handling general ledger entries, preparing balance sheets, income statements, and managing accounts payable and receivable. I also helped clients streamline their accounting processes by implementing best practices and improving financial reporting systems.

3. Internal Audit Department: I participated in internal audit engagements, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
