This is the audit order I follow EVERY brand I work with on email.

1. Deliverability and domain health
2. Authentication setup and whether it's actually enforced
3. List hygiene and engagement patterns
4. Then strategy, flows, and creative

You can't optimize emails that aren't landing.

And you'd be surprised how many brands have entire email programs built on top of deliverability they've never once tested.

New domains carry roughly a 30 percentage point penalty compared to mature domains.

IP and domain warm-up takes 45-60 days of gradual scaling with engagement safeguards in place.

And 40% of email senders still aren't cleaning their lists regularly, which means bounces and invalid addresses are quietly destroying their sender reputation in the background.

This is why deliverability sits at layer one of my stack, and before I build a single flow or write a single email, I NEED to know the foundation is solid.
