2024 was a year of meaningful reflection and growth. Creating an opportunity to take time for myself, I returned to study. Being deeply passionate about sustainability, exploring this area in greater depth, naturally drew my curiosity. 

I loved learning about the complexity and interconnectivity of global and business challenges. Initially feeling confronted by the scale and complexity of the challenge at hand, we we’re encouraged to sit in the discomfort. By using tools to break down the problem, we learnt how it’s possible for business to drive positive change.

When I joined the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA), I was stepping into the heart of the Media and Marketing Industry. 

It was a time of incredible change at AANA, and I was initially entrusted to "reset" RESET, the premier marketing conference, drawing together CMOs from across the country. It was an opportunity I truly embraced, and it marked the beginning of a rewarding journey. 

As my role evolved, my responsibilities expanded to lead member engagement. Working closely with members and other leaders from across the industry, I achieved meaningful growth in both membership and events. Ensuring that our members had a seat at the table to shape the future of the industry. More fulfilling for me, was fostering a sense of community, belonging and connection amongst our diverse membership.

Under the guidance of the remarkable industry leaders who sat on the board, I had the privilege of working directly with CMOs from top tier advertisers including Arnott’s, Coles, Google, Lion, McDonald’s, Nestle, Telstra, Toyota, Westpac, and Woolworths. 

My time at AANA certainly cemented my passion for the industry, demonstrating how marketing can be a powerful force for good.

Balancing my role while completing my MBA and marketing felt like a seamless fit. It was at AdNews that I truly learned the industry’s landscape, understood the complex intersections, and saw firsthand how it operates.

My first glimpse into the Australian media and marketing landscape began at indie agency GuihenJones, who specialise in the retail sector. It was an exciting journey, working with prominent retailers like McDonald's, Holden, Woolworths, Lindt, and Australian Geographic.

At GuihenJones, I had the opportunity to wear many hats. I took charge of marketing the GuihenJones brand through various strategies and initiatives. Developing relationships with prospective new clients became a key focus, as did managing both internal and external promotional events.
