Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home

* Clean, disinfect, and maintain restrooms, event spaces, gym, and office areas.
*  Monitor janitorial supplies and recommend when to order products.
*  Move and arrange furniture as requested or needed for cleaning or events.
*  Special cleaning projects.
*  Perform related work as required.

Custodian

Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services

* Position ended due to organizational restructuring


* Trained over 400 medical providers within a six county area in the usage of the State immunization database (MCIR) with the goal of increasing  the quality and consistency of patient medical records.
* Ensured data analysis and quality processes through the use of transfer reports which recorded any information, as well as errors, transferring from the provider's electronic medical records to the State's database.
* Generated and created ad hoc reports on behalf of MCIR users to meet protocols and State standards.
* Developed and updated regional forms and training materials, simplifying materials as needed without effecting quality.
* Monitored data submission and immunization levels for Region 2 MCIR users.
* Ensured all regional users are updated on MCIR system changes and procedural changes.
* Developed strategies to increase private provider enrollment and participation in MCIR.
* Served as back up for Region 2 help desk and de-duplication of immunization records in the region.

Child Enrollment: Conducted client enrollments including parent/child interviews, child safety education and enrollment processes.  Assessed and referred families for alternative or additional services as needed.  Conducted reassessments as needed.

Volunteer Training: Assessed and provided for individual training needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, Assessment: Provided comprehensive assessments and match support recommendations for volunteer/child participation in the program based upon individual assessments.

Matching: Reviewed all enrollment information and assessments to make high quality matching recommendations.  Assessed and applied factors contributing to a successful match.  Effectively aligned volunteer interests / qualifications with service options of agency.  Consulted with other service delivery staff and/or supervisor as appropriate.  Determined matches and facilitated match meetings.  

Match Support- Individual: Assessed the match relationship focusing on: child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction.  Real and/or potential problems and barriers were identified, addressed and resolved as early as possible.  Match support was provided and case notes documented on a frequency according to BBBS Standards.

Match Support- Group: Developed, promoted, implemented and supervised group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.

   accounts while doing research in areas such as escrow, payments, delinquency, modifications and

*  Led morale building group and developed ideas such as motivational emails,  
    events, fundraisers and contests to improve and retain high quality standards for customer 
    service representatives.

A high quality environment produces high quality products and services, as well as motivated workers.

Throughout my education and work experiences, I've discovered that I've been melding people support with process support.  Maybe this aspect is tied into my curiosity.  I want to find a way to make things easier and better for people (and for myself).

When I was at the University of Michigan, I began really analyzing what I valued in a career .  As a Public Relations Assistant at WUOM Radio, I enjoyed the camaraderie I had with the radio hosts when I ran into them and writing PSAs.  One of the radio hosts even volunteered to voice an audio commercial for a marketing class that I had.

At my work study with the National Institute for Burn Medicine in Ann Arbor, I enjoyed doing presentations on burn awareness and prevention, creating campaign information, and coming up with process improvement procedures.  For instance, instead of counting flyers to send out, weighing them on a postal scale in 25 count increments.

Throughout the positions I've held, over the years I've found I value creativity, customer service, improving processes, and helping people. Training and education tap into these areas.  Furthermore, good training and education also bolster confidence and morale.
