A bit about me: I am a communication designer turned visual thinking expert. 

As much as I love everything visual, pretty design images or even illustrations aren't the most important. 

The prettiest design doesn't help if your messaging – or your product – is missing the mark.

But it is almost impossible to see how to connect the dots for your business especially if you have many ideas! 

That's where I come in with my pencil. 

I use strategic sketching and a powerful story-driven framework. 

• In a Business Storyboarding session, I ask you questions and sketch while we talk. You'll SEE your client's problems and feelings. A client of mine said: "It is as if you could walk around in their life!"

Business Objects

Working on innovations, new products and evaluating developments and trends in the Business Intelligence market (query, reporting and analysis by another name). Information is my business.

For a great example of my ideas/concepts in action, check out question-centric BI and Intelligent Question at http://www.businessobjects.com/products/queryanalysis/iq.asp. A big thanks of course to a great team of talented engineers.

The concept has received many rave reviews from analysts, journalists and customers alike. It is not a natural language tool, but there are parallels. I prefer to call it structured questioning. It is far far less daunting for occasional/untrained/impatient users than expecting them to type questions into an empty text box. Bringing this innovation to market was a real fun project. Challenging, hard work, but fun.

I continued to run the AnswerSets/Set Analyzer product line as a Strategic Business Unit inside Business Objects, taking the revenue up to a run rate of $8m/annum (up from $1.5m at time of acquisition)

Created the software product AnswerSets, a unique tool designed to simplify and accelerate the process of selection and analysis. It is best categorized by three capabilities: Visual Selection, Step Wise Querying and Set Based Analysis. 

AnswerSets was frequently used for campaign audience selection and customer segmentation, but has universal applicability, for example in Category Management to track product segments. Early customers included Abbey National, Shell, Dollond & Aitchison and Component Source.

Business Objects acquired the company having initially licensed it under the Set Analyzer name.

Joined F1 at an early stage. Helped develop the company to thirty people across three offices in the UK serving 1,000+ customers.

Designed and executed many successful campaigns to drive revenue in the training business. At the time we were the number one provider of training on FoxPro in the UK before and after the acquisition of Fox Software by Microsoft.

Having put much energy and focus into the Pro-ACTION contact management tool, I left to pursue a fascination for Business Intelligence and Segmentation tools.

I've always been an innovator and an enthusiast for whatever I do, whether I was working in the fashion business, creating ground breaking software, running a startup or just having fun.

I have a unique mix of cross-functional skills. I've always got an idea or two for the next big thing and a record for making good bets and predictions. I place a strong focus on execution, building great teams and on not taking myself too seriously.

I love working with people to develop new creative ideas and proposals. I'm left handed and right brained. I rely on others to help me find my way back to the box. I'm a great source of energy, passion and creativity. 

I've got the book reading bug and have become an aspiring 'Lovecat' in search of the 'Killer App', who believes in the concepts of 'Never Eat Alone' and  'A Whole New Mind'.
