34. The age at which I became my Son's Superhero. This is when I got six-pack abs, a dream from my teenage days which I had almost forgotten about amidst corporate life.

As a Dad and a former Project Manager, I can understand if you struggle to sustain your fitness journey.

You start with the motivation to look good in your polo T-shirt or because you want to be able to play actively with your child or for health reasons.

Fast forward to a few months or a year and you end up with the same physique or have put on even more fat.

Why? Because your busy schedule takes over.

So what can you do about it?

Stop looking at fitness as an On-Off switch. Instead, see it as a dial that you regulate based on your life situation. 

I am a certified Nutrition and Fitness Consultant, who has coached hundreds of fellow Dads and Busy Professionals.

They continue to eat Rice and Dosai while getting into their fittest shape yet.

They don't go to the gym 6-7 days a week or spend endless hours on the treadmill.

They eat and train smart for fat loss, general fitness.

I have been sober for 1166 days now.

I first stopped drinking thanks to the Covid lockdowns.

I got into the best shape of my life. 

I started drinking socially again briefly in 2022. But then I quit the habit for good.

The last drink I had was on Diwali day, 2022.

I can tell you about the many ways in which my life has improved since then.

I will save that for some other day.

I didn't wait for the new year to start a habit. With my son as my habit partner, I have started going on regular morning walks in the park.

What has helped us start is keeping the habit "doable".

We don't aim for one hour walks. We go for 2-3 rounds.

We start our day with sunlight and movement.

We experience the cool winter mornings and hear bird sounds.

How we start our day can have a big impact on:

Our health
Our mood
Our work

Social media makes us think we need an elaborate morning routine.

But all we really need is one small change that helps us start a habit and sustain it.

Like a 15 minute walk outside.

We don't have to wait for the new year for that.
