Do you know a large Midwest family? Well, if you do, then you know me.  I am the youngest of eight, raised in a small farmers'​ village in the Netherlands. If I picked an apple from the wrong tree on my way home from school, my parents would know about it before I got off my bike.

The family name is like a bank account, and my family has put their savings in it for over 50 years.  We are not rich, but the van der Kooij's are known for our hard work, and willingness to help others. So we never needed a lot of money. For my family, our reputation is the most valued asset and trust is the currency we trade in.  Every day.

Fast forward to today, a time where the subscription (SaaS) business model is impacting organizations big and small.   Why?  Because in the subscription business you MUST make a client successful!  You have to earn an honest word-of-mouth reference by exceeding a client's expectation. You have to work hard and build a reputation. I recognize this as these are the norms and values I was raised on, and I know exactly what to do.

Led a team of 3 staff to project manage the reorganisation of the assets, management systems and processes with a particular emphasis on breaking down the complexity that existed within the integrated mine planning process between the head office in Perth and the site operations.

Energy Distributer; Australia
Appointed as Account Manager on a 9-month business transformation programme to transition an organisation which was formally part of a larger state-owned entity and develop a structure and management systems and processes to allow the client to supply energy efficiently and effectively to the discrete regions of Australia including a particular focus on aboriginal settlements.

Copper Miner; Kazakhstan
A high profile 2-year project driven by the corporate HQ, focused on developing culture, structure and reporting lines across 27 separate assets and identifying a significant reduction in headcount whist simultaneously increasing productivity.

Copper Miner; Namibia
Tasked as a Project Manager on a 2-month initiative to identify where headcount and complexity could be removed and increases in production to make the assets cash positive, following a significant drop in copper price from $8,000 to $2,700 per tonne.

Iron Ore Miner; Ukraine
Operated as a Senior Consultant on a 2-year project focused on the selection, development, training and coaching of the clients High Potential Employee’s, aimed at building a continuous improvement team to develop systems and provide sustainable cost reduction improvements whilst also increasing output volumes.
