Completed a two-month internship in craft brewery procedures and development while working side-by-side with the head brewer and assistant. Trained in beer transfer process including sanitation and the use of fermenters and brite tanks. Aided head brewer in the development of new ideas and provided daily suggestions that resulted in new cask night proposals and beer naming. Experienced in keg cleaning and filling as well as organizing for keg distribution. 

As a bartender, my duties included serving customers, monitoring staff and performing closing duties.

Production Assistant

Edward Jones

Assisted U.S. financial advisors with distribution and rollover questions regarding retirement accounts, including IRS rules, tax withholding, penalty exceptions, required minimum distributions and Roth conversions. Was on a select team of Specialists that was trained to answer questions regarding Social Security and Medicare.

Assisted on a long-term project to provide enhancements to internal systems regarding the calculation of required minimum distributions. Performed webinars for staff around the U.S. regarding the handling of distributions and was a subject matter expert on the topic.

Aided a special project regarding new regulations from the Department of Labor involving ERISA-qualified retirement plans. Leader on the team in calls taken, average call time and service requests handled. Making outbound and accepting inbound phone calls from branches to guarantee compliance.

Customer Service Representative

In-bound call center representative that handled over 10,000 calls after being hired from a contracted position. Performed mutual fund exchanges with a Series 6 license. Instituted changes to contact center procedures that helped maintain productivity and increased efficiency during periods of increased volume. My recorded phone conversations are used as examples to new clients and models to new representatives.

Golden handcuffs aren't about what you're making.

They're about the money you'll lose if you leave.

The math may say: "Just stick around a little longer."

Later: "I'm miserable, but I just got a bonus and another one comes in 3 months."

Calculate your ACTUAL walkaway number: what are you leaving on the table?

Build your exit fund using those bonuses. 

Is your mental health worth more than that unvested amount?

Retire before 59½ without paying penalties?

Most people think it's impossible to access their IRA early without the 10% penalty.

But there's a strategy early retirees use: The Roth Conversion Ladder

And by planning 5 years ahead, you create a "ladder" of accessible funds without penalties.

The catch?

➡️ You need to start 5 years before you want to retire.

Most people decide to retire and THEN figure out the money. By then, it's too late.
The best time to start was 5 years ago.

The second-best time is today.

3 questions they should have asked (and you should too):

The Busch family is suing their financial advisor, alleging they lost millions on an improperly sold insurance policy. The advisor supposedly made huge commissions on the sale.

This wasn't just bad advice. It was likely a broken compensation structure that rewarded sales over solutions.

Here's how advisors get paid:

To avoid this, memorize these questions to ask your advisor.

1️⃣ "How are you compensated?" [This should be straight forward and easy to understand.]
2️⃣ "Do you earn commissions on any products you recommend to me?" [Get a yes or no. If yes, ask how much.]
3️⃣ "Are you a fiduciary 100% of the time?" [This means they're legally required to act in YOUR best interest, not theirs.]

Don’t blindly trust the wrong person to manage your money.

“I could’ve been rich!”

If only we all knew exactly how to invest for our futures. 

I was bartending when I first heard about Bitcoin, and years later, and all I could think was, “why didn’t I see that coming?”

But here’s the thing about big bets: they can go both ways.

Peloton, Zoom, meme stocks… many soared, then sank. And if your portfolio was built on just one or two of those, the losses sting.

That’s why diversification matters. It’s boring… but it works.

Big wins make headlines. Long-term discipline builds wealth.

All investment strategies have the potential for profit and loss. Different types of investments involve varying degrees of risk, and there can be no assurance that any specific investment will either be suitable or profitable for a client's investment portfolio. Client experiences will vary, successful outcomes and not guaranteed.

ISOs are amazing. Until they're not.
 
One of the most expensive mistakes tech employees make: thinking "incentive stock options" means no taxes.
 
ISOs don't trigger regular income tax when you exercise them. That part is true.
 
But they DO trigger Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) on the "spread" - the difference between what you paid and the current fair market value.
 
Translation: You owe taxes on money you haven't received yet.
 
And because nothing was withheld, most people don't realize they owe until tax season.
 
Have you exercised ISOs? Did you know about AMT?

But if you’re not planning to take advantage of your early retirement to position yourself for tax-free wealth, you’ll likely miss the biggest opportunity when you’re at your lowest tax brackets.

RSU tax surprise = $26,000 problem

Your company withholds 22% by default when RSUs vest.

But if you're in a higher tax bracket (and most of you reading this are), you could owe significantly more come April.

Example:

💰 $200K RSU vests
💰 $44K withheld (22%)
💰 But you're in the 35% bracket
💰 You actually owe $70K
❌ You're short $26,000

The fix? Have a plan for paying those taxes before they vest. Otherwise you're forced to make estimated tax payments (both federal and state) to avoid penalties.

This is one of the most common - and expensive - mistakes I see with high-earners in tech.

Life insurance doesn’t have to be complicated.

If you want a quick way to estimate how much coverage you ✨really✨ need, try this:

➡️ Your annual salary × 12.

That’s it.

It’s a simple way to ensure that, if something were to happen to you, your loved ones wouldn’t be forced to make hard financial decisions—like selling the house just to get by.

You don’t need fancy policies or sales pitches to get started.

Many people combine their workplace life insurance with a personal policy to hit the number that makes sense for them.

Is this the only way to calculate coverage? No.

But if you’ve been putting this off, it’s a great place to start.

Take 30 seconds. Do the math. Protect your family.
