The AI money machine! Well, it's almost impossible to map. But someone has got to do it. This is the circular flow of capital through the AI infrastructure
economy from 2019 to 2032. A rose-tinted version that's being priced in. What looks like a complex web is actually a surprisingly simple money machine.

Here's how it works. Tech giants (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta) invest trillions in AI development and infrastructure. That money flows to OpenAI and cloud providers, who then purchase GPUs and networking chips from NVIDIA, AMD and Broadcom. Meanwhile, OpenAI generates revenue by licensing its models back to Microsoft and others, creating a closed loop. 

The numbers are staggering. Microsoft has invested over $13 billion in OpenAI since 2019. Oracle just signed a $300 billion deal with OpenAI for data centre capacity through 2029. Meta is scaling from 150,000 NVIDIA GPUs in 2023 to 1.3 million by the end of 2025, spending up to $65 billion this year alone. Broadcom's AI chip revenue jumped from $3.8 billion in 2023 to a projected $40 billion by 2026, a tenfold increase in three years.

What makes this ecosystem fascinating is how tightly interconnected it is. NVIDIA recieves infrastructure spending from nearly everyone. The chip makers get paid in advance whilst the AI companies bet on future revenue that may or may not materialise. If we assume that it does however, then this is what it looks like. Long-dated global yields pushing back towards 4%, the highest level since 2009. It is not a quiet move. It is a signal. For the first time in years investors are beginning to doubt that the global rate-cut cycle has much life left in it.

The backdrop explains the shift. Traders are now pricing almost no further cuts from the ECB. Japan is expected to hike. Australia may deliver two more increases next year. Even in the US the Fed is preparing to cut this week yet long bonds are selling off as investors reassess inflation the government’s fiscal outlook and the politics around the next Fed Chair. 

Across developed markets the same story appears. Higher deficits more debt issuance and inflation stickiness are forcing investors to demand a higher risk premium for lending long term.

Look again at the chart and the implication is clear. The era when long bonds offered diversification and predictable yield compression is fading.
If long-term rates remain pinned near 4% what does that mean for equity valuations housing markets and governments already struggling with the cost of debt?

Time Zone was the brainchild of Ralf Calebow and Erik Meijer. Both Erik and I are passionate about watches and we love to share this passion. Together with our team we took our clients by the hand to guide them through the world of independent watch making.
 
Time Zone offered the finest timepieces, focussing on technically unique and aesthetically distinctive pieces. We curated and presented the finest independent brands. Additionally, we offered a carefully selected collection of mainstream brands to suit every level of affordability. We aimed to provide our clients with the highest level of service in a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere.
 
Time Zone offered over 16 brands in several boutiques in Bangkok: a 154 square meter multi-brand boutique. Furthermore a Jacob & Co and a Jaquet Droz mono-boutique in Gaysorn Village and the TZ Watch Clinic, our service, repair and bespoke design center, in the President Tower Arcade.

I was CFO of Narcissus Group.

Narcissus Group was the official and exclusive representative of Philipp Plein in Thailand with a 198 square meter boutique in Bangkok at ICONSIAM.

From 2001 until 2018 I was Group Accounting and IFRS Specialist at former DAB Bank AG, Munich. DAB Bank AG was a bank specialized in brokerage services and was listed on the German stock market from 1999 onwards. 

Due to my outstanding performance and achievements within the Accounting and Financial Department (amongst them having contributed significantly to the successful implementation of SAP as the main accounting system), I was promoted to “Manager” and “Senior Manager” in 2003 and 2009, respectively.

My primary responsibilities were:
1. Solely responsible for the preparation of the Consolidated Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS for the Annual Reports and Quarterly Reports of DAB Bank Group.
2. Solely responsible for the disclosure of the Consolidated Financial Statements including the “Notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements” of the Annual Reports and Quarterly Reports of DAB Bank Group.
3. Mainly responsible for the reconciliation of the Individual Financial Statements of DAB Bank AG from German GAAP (HGB) to IFRS.
4. Support of daughter companies in accounting related guidelines regarding recognition, valuation and disclosure.
5. Solely responsible for all accounting related fundamental questions regarding recognition, valuation and disclosure in accordance with IFRS.
6. Responsible as stand-in for the monthly valuation of DAB Bank AG’s treasury portfolio. 
7. Responsible for purchase price allocations (PPA).
8. Solely responsible for the mark-to-model valuation and impairment tests related to companies and assets (participation in daughter companies, securities, client bases, goodwill asf.).
9. Project responsibility for the accounting side with regards to the implementation of new banking products.
10. Main contact person for audits (internal and external) and coordinator of the year-end audit (KPMG, EY, Deloitte, PwC a.o.).

Senior Manager - Group Accounting & IFRS Specialist

From 1999 until 2001 I was part of DAB Bank’s marketing team. Additionally, I took on the role of business support executive.

My main responsibilities were:
1. Acquisition of new customers via inbound and outbound marketing channels.
2. Answering questions related to all of the bank’s products and services.
3. Execution of all kinds of securities transactions.
4. Support of clients with regards to securities including rules and best practices pertaining to stock-, bond-, foreign currency-, and derivatives-markets.

DAB Bank AG was a former subsidiary of HypoVereinsbank AG, Munich (which eventually was purchased by and merged with UniCredit S.p.A., Milano). In 2014 the majority of shares of DAB Bank AG were purchased by BNP Paribas S.A., Paris. In 2015 DAB Bank AG was delisted from the German stock market and eventually merged with BNP Paribas S.A., Paris.

I was an apprentice for two years at Dresdner Bank AG (which was later on bought and merged with Commerzbank AG) which entailed 50% participating in hands-on practical daily work and 50% school attendance in order to learn the theoretical basics of banking. The German Banking Apprenticeship sets a very good foundation with regards to banking knowledge. Voluntarily I participated in extra curricula which meant additional workload. However, due to this I am entitled to call myself “Finanzassistent” (Financial Assistant).
