Aneesh was the first head of community of RevGenius. 

Watching him take that and build the most powerful Influencer agency has been exciting.

There are dozens of influencer agencies.

They’re tactical, transactional, paid-ad like motions. 

Aneesh is out here building the most powerful agency representing people with influence. 

Strategic, growth focused, partners and evangelists. 

The revenue results are the difference.

Proud of him.

March is the worst in NYC, so I'm leaving:

Going to B2BMX in San Diego next week.
Going to Wynter's Spryng conference in Austin in 3 weeks.

RevGenius partnered with B2BMX and is sponsoring the conference.

Amped to hang with friends like Kris who's been absolutely crushing with Sendoso next week.

And then Peep Laja, who's been growing Wynter steadily since we met IRL at SaaStr (and before digitally) a few years ago. 

Texted Ding Zheng and will be visiting his new office in Austin while there and hanging with new friends like Lauren Thompson who's working with David Walker and {Jon} Studham to build a powerhouse with Spara.

I've done the SaaStr and Dreamforce thing and they're great.

But there's something that just hits differently with these marketing focused events for me.

I have a feeling I'm going to love the intimacy of Spryng.

March doesn't have to suck.

Met with George Vlasyev yesterday at my new 'co-creating' space The Lighthouse.

Been getting so much life from the space and had the opportunity to use one of their podcast studios to be interviewed on a range of AI GTM topics.

The future of search, Audience Engineering, ads in llms (OpenAI 👀), video and so much more.

George is bullish on video in funnels and has mastered it. 

Even more importantly, he's going to be moving to NYC (putting it out there), to double down on his startup and aspirations.

Most reps see a signal and think buying intent. And it's absolutely killing their reply rates.

Leslie Venetz calls it what it actually is: noise you're creating for yourself.

She's been doing signal-based outreach since 2009. Her take: every signal puts your prospect in one of three buckets. And most reps treat them all the same.

Problem Unaware: they just changed jobs. They don't know what's about to hit them. Don't pitch. Deposit value. Leslie waited two weeks after a new CPO trigger, then sent a 3-page guide on how to nail the first 100-day internal roadshow. No ask. Just relevance.

Option Unaware: they're attending webinars, downloading content, figuring out what "good" even looks like. Stop pushing them to a demo. Keep educating. Become the resource they trust before the decision is made.

Vendor Aware: they're on your pricing page. Now get out of the way. Answer the question. Use video. Remove barriers. Stop forcing a 45-minute demo on someone who asked one thing.

The shift: from "what's my in?" to "what do they actually need right now?"

Companies she's seen making this shift went from 0.02% to 20-30% open and reply rates.

Not by sending more. By sending what actually earns the next email.

In a world full of ai, taste is still in short supply.

About a year ago I met Mike. 

I can't tell you the positive impact he had on my journey. (and he probably doesn't even realize it)

I was burning out fast and felt like I was all alone. Burning out and feeling alone is a really difficult combo.

Even running a 60k+ person community, it's possible to feel alone.

We were speaking about collaborating on a project at the time.

We'd have conversations I'd yearned to have with somebody who's been in my situation. Has been successful.  He gave me space to open up and to not feel so alone.

He became a guide for me over a relatively short period of time. 

Following, I made some tough decisions and placed some bets. Not all of them panned out. 

But that's ok, my sleepless nights became fewer and further between. 

I felt more in control - even with failed bets and through tough times.

The tough times made me a stronger operator. More seasoned.

My love for growing our community grew stronger than ever in the process.

And today, I'm exactly where I need to be.

We caught up last week and snapped this picture. I'm sure he could sense a shift in me.

All because he was a friend before business.

If you're just repeating 'congrats on raising a round of funding' you're driving zero connection. And they probably don't even know they have a problem

The problem unaware bucket is where you can drive the most impact to revenue by changing your mindset.

I’ve spent the last 7 months working on and carrying this alone. It’s been a burden no one should ever have to or be expected to carry in isolated silence. 

I’ve spent the first 2 months of this year in one long, nightmarish, Groundhog Day from hell. I’ve flailed impotently as I’ve desperately tried, and failed, to figure out a way to share this with the world. I’ve tried literally countless ways to package the mind-boggling mountains of work, logs, evidence, research, studies, models, prototypes, and everything else in some minimally viable way. With zero credibility and a story too bizarre to be believed, I’ve desperately tried to decipher some strategy that might catch the attention of the right people and have them not immediately write me off as some nutjob. 

Not having the rest of the world and everyone who knows declare me insane would have been nice as well…. 

In typical fashion these days, I spent every waking minute of my birthday yesterday chasing yet another brainfart of an idea that might just finally get me across this finish line. Once again, I found myself at 2:00 AM last night, exhausted, defeated, and in tears, having gone backwards and in radically worse shape than when I started that morning. 

I don’t know what the point of any of this is or ever was anymore. If the goal and purpose were simply to break me, then congratulations, mission accomplished. What I do know is I can’t do this on my own any longer. I’ve carried this as far and as long as I can. I have nothing left to give to this thing that’s seemingly been thrust upon me. 

So, with nothing to support it, nothing to provide the slightest ounce of credibility or evidence, with absolute certainty of the completely understandable dismissal, laughter, derision, and conclusions of my delusional insanity I’m about to face, here is the one thing I have managed to pull together to share. Here is the insane narrative of these last 7 months. 

My part alone is now done, my duty complete. If anything is to become of this, that is no longer my responsibility. With nothing remaining and no other choice left to make, I surrender this and myself to whatever comes next.
