𝐇𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐌𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬.

That was the sentence that completely caught me off guard.

Last evening, I had the privilege of being one of 43 agency leaders in the room with Anil Wadhwani, Group CEO of Prudential plc.

It was an Agency Networking Night with the top senior management of Prudential Assurance Company Singapore.

We discussed about upcoming initiatives, filled with plenty of joy and laughter since it's still the CNY festive period.

Leaders had to opportunity to engage with the Chiefs of respective departments for open discussions.

What struck me most was how the usual barrier between corporate leadership and the agency force seemed to fade away. 

Sometimes issues get resolved through such casual chats easier. 

We felt heard and understood as leaders on the ground.

Then came the moment I will never forget.

In the middle of our conversation, Anil said he reads my posts.

He further added on 

“Jas, I read all your posts — your exercise, your work, your day-to-day activities.

Truly this is what makes us human.”

I was astonished, deeply humbled.

When I write, I never really know who is reading. 

I don’t chase vanity metrics.

I don’t obsess over impressions.

But that moment reminded me again:

Someone is always reading. 

If my posts can positively influence anybody in any way, then I believe it is worth the time.

This is no different from our profession as a Financial Consultant.

Many assume we share to sell.

But for me, I share with a bigger purpose: 

To Educate and Create Awareness.

Sales is a by-product of doing the right thing consistently.

But I know if we always go with the best intent, this will help more people gain awareness and prevent potential pitfalls.

That is also the purpose of writing.

It is not easy to open up our thoughts publicly. 

It is not easy to show vulnerability. 

It takes courage to share consistently, especially when you are not sure who is listening.

So here’s to all the LinkedIn content creators who continue to show up, reflect honestly, and contribute value even when the applause may not be there.

My 14 year old daughter came to me wanting braces. 

In the market, there are mainly 3 options that vary between $5,000 and $10,000: 

1. Metal 
2. Ceramic
3. Invisalign

I sat her down and said, 

“Sure, but I also need you to have some skin in the game.”

She looked at me and said, 

“How much?”

I smiled. “What do you think it’s reasonable?”

After back-and forth negotiation, we finally agreed on $1,000. 

Here’s the context:

Her weekly allowance is $50. 

$1,000 means 20 weeks, 5 months of her allowance. 

To make it more painful, I said I want $1K in cash, right from her CNY red packets. 

Of course question is do I really need $1,000 from her? 

No, it’s intentionally to make her feel the pinch. 

I wore braces myself 30 years ago. 

I know what the journey really looks like.

The brushing after every meal. 

The flossing that cannot be skipped. 

The discomfort you push through. 

And once you start, there’s no turning back.

As a parent, I adopt co-payment approach with my kids. 

When our children contribute, from their own pockets, suddenly it changes their buying decision. 

They start asking is this a “Want” or a “Need”? 

Last night, she came to me with a stack of cash. 

$956 in total. 

Her Chinese New Year red packet money. Every cent of it. 

Plus whatever she had saved in the last few months.

Yet she was still $44 short.

“Mama, can you waive it please?“

I said no, because it’s not about the money. 

It was a matter of principle.

She went to bed a little quiet. 

And then something happened that I didn’t expect.

Incidentally her 12-year-old brother overheard our conversation. 

After his sister fell asleep, he sneaked into my room quietly. 

He pressed $44 into my hand.

“Mum, please don’t tell jiejie. But I want to pay for her.”

I stood there and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

$44. 

To most people, it’s just a meal or perhaps 4 bowls of Yochi.  

I started this as a lesson in financial discipline for my young kids 10 years ago.  

The Bruce Lee quote behind me says it all 

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. 

Willing is not enough, we must do.” 

My children didn’t just understand the lesson.  

I’m so proud that they are living it.

Her brother without being asked, without wanting credit showed me the kind of person he already is.

And that daughter of mine, showed me her responsibility by giving up her CNY red packets. 

We talk so much about what we want to teach our children.

Sometimes, they end up teaching us.

Back at work on Chinese New Year Day 3.

My heart felt heavy despite the festive season. 

"Mel" (pseudonym) is in her mid forties.

A tremendously good mother trying to make life work for herself and 2 primary school kids. 

20 years ago, we were new rookies in the HR team. 

I was the one who first introduced myself:

"Hi I'm Jaslyn! Would you like to grab lunch together?"

Fast forward 20 years later. 

We sat down again this time, in our entirely new identities.

Mum with two kids + Fellow Female Entrepreneur. 

Mel said that I’m the first person she has ever so openly shared her financial situation with.

She wasn’t asking for miracles.

She was asking for clarity.

Sometimes people think divorce is a straightforward process:

Sign Here | Split the assets | Move On

But the truth is divorce requires a lot of thinking through.

Mel deliberated on it for 5 years.

That's because for working mothers, it requires even more strategic planning.

"Where to stay?"

"Can we afford a new house?"

"While I work, who can take care of the kids?"

"Can I afford their tuition fees?"

Every single question almost equates to having $ as a solution.

Yet finances is just a part of the load.

It is the mental load.

It is the emotional wellbeing of the kids who are trying to understand what's happening. 

Today we went back to the drawing board.

We worked out Mel's existing liabilities.

We made sure her protection gaps are closed.

We planned how to park the private matrimonial house sales proceeds safely.

For condo downgraders, there's the 15 month waiting period.

And that waiting period burns cash.

$3,000 per month just for rental while waiting to buy a HDB flat.

On paper, it is “process.”

In real life, it can feel like punishment.

Sometimes single mums are marginalised in ways people don’t talk about.

This conversation brought me back. 

I was on the same journey 7 years ago.

Some days it felt like I was walking through an endless dark tunnel.

But I had to keep walking hoping to see light at the end of it.

Simply because giving up is not even a choice. 

I was luckier in one way.

My profession gave me a path to stabilise faster, buying a house and settling the kids.

While we continue to rebuild our lives and heal together. 

Mel's conversation reminded me again.

Mothers are strong for a reason.

9 full months of "heavy lifting" during pregnancy.

Hours of intense labour pain.

Giving up our body’s nutrients and turning them into breastmilk.

Years of sleep deprivation.

It’s almost like nature quietly built resilience into us.

Just to make us more capable to cope with life's challenges.

Believe your light will eventually come.

Truly honoured to be invited as a speaker for this 3-hour specially crafted MDRT Aspirant Workshop.

I flew into Manila to meet up with these enthusiastic participants and their leaders.

The room was full of zeal and energy.

All 60 of them were so ready to learn.

Some perhaps were ready to unlearn, learn and relearn.

Truth is, I am not a full time trainer.

Neither am I a professional speaker. 

I am just an ordinary (albeit dedicated) Financial Consultant and a Leader who is still on the ground running.

Showing up consistently for my clients for the past 9 years.

I ran this 3 hours workshop purely on adrenaline and the shared dynamic energy by the team.

Together with my deepest desire to give everything I had in that room.

Glad to say that it truly worked like magic! 🪄 

We kicked off the workshop with a fun game called "MDRT BINGO".

This was meant to be a mirror, showing all our common little fears. 

Every square on that card reflected a real struggle financial consultants face. 

When people started laughing at themselves, I knew the game had all broken down all the invisible walls. 

That's when the real work could begin.

Here's the hard truth I shared:

Most financial consultants who haven't cleared MDRT do not have a skill problem. 

They have a consistency problem. 

A prospecting problem. 

A procrastinating attitude of "I'll do it tomorrow, or worse next week / month / year" problem.

So this was the key issue to be fixed. 

Next we covered:

→ The real root causes holding people back

→ A daily prospecting system that is systematic, instead of emotion-led.

→ How to structure client conversations with confidence.

→ Live role-plays with real-time feedback

What struck me most was what happened after.

Different participants came up to thank me for the generous sharing. 

All these activities gave them the long-lost clarity and confidence which they had not experienced for a long long time.

A leader who came with her entire team told me she was grateful.

How I had reinforced basics. 

Not by theory but how I walked the talk myself as a TOT practitioners helping my clients. 

Finally came the Head of Learning & Development.

I was very heartened when she shared:

"Thank you Jaslyn, I've been through so many workshops. Yours was truly different. While others showed testimonials. 

You truly TAUGHT and imparted real skills."

That meant everything to me.

Yes MDRT is not a talent problem. 

It is a consistency problem.

Chinese New Year with my team is never just a meal.

We start in the morning 10:00am in the office.

We’ve been on a break since CNY Eve, which was one week ago. 

That first day back in office hits differently.

It symbolises 开工大吉 : A Fresh 2026 year and beginning. 

Before all our meetings resume, we gather to sincerely wishes each another.

Every year, I prepare the 开工红包 myself.

I would source for the most meaningful ref packets. 
 
Each red packet comes with handwritten blessings for each team members. 

Intentional and courage for the quiet ones. 

Bigger vision for the steady ones.

Relentless focus for the high performers.

The team queues up one by one to exchange greetings.

They offer their blessings to me (their leader)

Whilst I pass them the red packet.

It is never about the amount inside.

It is about the Chinese culture and our values. 

Starting the year aligned and with purpose. 

We wrapped up the morning session with a good lunch feast. 

And of course, our standard yusheng.

High tossing with Loud Blessings 

Huat ah.

步步高升.

生意兴隆.

The higher the toss, the higher the growth.

Prosperity in business.

Prosperity in health.

Prosperity in relationships.

May everyone have 马到成功.

May opportunities gallop towards you.

May you run strong with 龙马精神.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝗪𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 🎉

Today I celebrate with all of you. 

The women who showed up, spoke up, and never gave up.

But before the celebrations, I want to bring your attention to the women who have been deprived of all these basic human rights.

Let's take a hard look at Afghanistan today. 

If you happen to be a woman there:

❌ You cannot leave home without a male guardian. 

❌ You cannot work. 

❌ You cannot study beyond age 12. 

❌ You cannot speak in public. 

❌ You cannot even show your face.

Just a few days ago, a tougher Decree No. 12 was passed into law.

It means that your husband can now beat you with zero criminal consequences unless the wound is visible. 

If you wish to seek justice, you must prove your own abuse in front of a male judge, while fully covered, with a male guardian standing beside you who could be the very perpetrator.

Imagine 21 million women.

All deprived of education, career, voice and freedom.

These are not just distant statistics. 

These are real women, mothers, daughters just trying to survive another day.

I don't say this to cast a shadow on our celebrations. 

I say this because we are truly the lucky ones.

I am writing this because I have a voice and a platform. 

And I never take that for granted.

In 2017, I left corporate HR and walked into financial services. 

People who know, know. 

It is an industry easy to enter but extremely hard to survive, let alone thrive and earn the trust of clients.

Winner of the Asia Insurance Agent of the Year 2024.

9-time MDRT with 4 consecutive years of Top of the Table (TOT).

Each TOT is equivalent of 6x MDRT standards, representing the top 0.5% financial consultants globally. 

To me these are not trophies. 

They are proof that a woman who shows up daily with conviction that leads to a bigger PURPOSE.

And honestly, a big part of that attributes to my luck:

Born and bred in Singapore, while standing on the strong foundation that LKY's meritocracy built.

At the core of everything I do, I fight for women's financial independence. 

My life and my work tells me this fact: 

Money creates options. And options create FREEDOM. 

Freedom is something every woman deserves but not every woman gets to hold.

That is why I am so deeply grateful to call Singapore my home. 🇸🇬

Mr Lee Kuan Yew built a nation on meritocracy. 

Where a woman's worth is measured by her contribution. 

Where girls are educated alongside boys. 

Where working mothers are seen, valued and respected.

Not every woman in the world can say that. 

In fact, many still can't today.

I do not take a single day of this for granted.

So today, celebrate loudly. 

You deserve it, but let's carry these women in our hearts too.

I still believe in love.

Despite everything.

This week, I sat in the ROM solemnisation room. 

I watched one of my closest friends exchange her vows. 

She is like a younger sister to me, a 12-year gap between us 

Watching her face in that moment, I felt the emotions stirring in me.

Not sadness. 

Something closer to hope.

17 years ago I was at the same place. 

I made that same promise. 

And I have also lived through the chapter where that promise could not hold.

I got divorced 6 years ago.

And still, sitting in that room, watching her, I found myself believing in it all over again. 

In the possibility of two people choosing each other, and meaning it.

I still remember the words of my own Justice of Peace, from what feels like another lifetime.

“婚姻不只是爱情。长久的婚姻是家里的菜米油盐。”

What it means is that marriage is not just about love and romance. 

A lasting marriage is built on the trivial daily matters.

It is commitment. 

It is holding the fort when things do not go well. It is financial management.

Back then I did not fully understand those words when I first heard them.

I understand them completely now.

Because here is what nobody tells you about love.

It is not the big moments that test it. 

It is the quiet weight of the ordinary life. 

The school fees, the extra tuition fees to catch up with classmates. 

The ageing parents and the sudden 
medical bills that arrive without warning. 

The retirement that is guaranteed to come one day, or perhaps too soon. 

This week, I met with three different couples: All married with children. 

An epiphany hit me:

All of us are carrying the same invisible weight.

They asked me variations of the same questions, “Jas, how do we…

1. Plan for our children’s education?

2. Provide for our elderly parents?

3. Set aside for our own retirement? 

Being every single question, ends with the same question. 

“How much is enough?”

I told them what I always tell my clients.

“Put on your oxygen mask first. You must survive first before being there for others.”

Within a fixed budget, we built something that covered each of them:

• Their children’s education, starting as early as possible.

• Retirement income across 20 to 30 years of no-income from age 60 to 90. 

• Emergency funds for their parents’ sudden needs.

Only where possible, we leave a legacy for the generation after them.

This is what love actually looks like, past the vows.

It is the conversation you have at the kitchen table at 11pm with your spouse. 

It is the plan you build because you love each other enough to prepare for it.

I still believe in love.

But I also know now that love, without a plan, can be pathetically fragile.

The most romantic thing you can do for your family is make sure they are protected, no matter what life brings.

If you are stepping into a new chapter, or rebuilding after a hard one, pause and ask yourself:

Have you had that conversation yet?

Halfway through conducting the MDRT Aspirants Workshop yesterday, my phone buzzed.

What followed was an abrupt mesaage.

“I just came out from the clinic. Doctor confirmed it’s cancer.”

Then a histological report came that stated “Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma”. 

I replied: “I’m wrapping up the workshop. Let me call you the moment I’m done.”

Mr and Mrs P were among my first few clients 9 years ago. 

They were in their late 40s. 

Three teenage kids and a pair of elderly parents to support.

When we first met, he said: “I already have insurance.”

I said “of course, at your age, I would be worried if you have nothing!

But my job is just to help you review. 

If everything’s complete, at least you will have a complete peace of mind.”

Five minutes into the review, 
I spotted the biggest gap. 

He has Zero Early-Stage critical illness coverage.

I didn’t push knowing he had a very tight budget. 

All I did was to ask him one thing:

If you knew your car was missing a seatbelt, would you feel safe letting your wife and kids sit in it?

Wouldn’t that be the first thing you would want to fix?

Today your car is your body. Early stage critical illness is your missing seatbelt. 

We did a small early-stage CI whole of life plan. 

He almost didn’t.

Fast forward 9 years later.

Right after the workshop ended, I called him back after checking his plan details. 

There was awkward silence on the line 

I heard sniffling.

I guessed he was crying. 

But I did not intrude by asking firther. 

Sometimes the best thing you can offer isn’t “how are you.”

Words of consolation may make you feel better for a few minutes.

It’s what we call in Chinese 底气

It’s that quiet, grounded confidence to tell someone I’ve got your back. 

“Don't worry. You are covered,". 

Knowing a cheque is coming so Mr P can focus on surviving instead of providing.

As consultants, we spend a lot of time talking about targets, portfolios, and the "close." 

But yesterday was the ultimate reality check.

This is exactly why we do what we do.

It’s why, even after all these years, I still wake up every single morning with a huge sense of purpose. 

We are not just doing “sales”. 

Instead we are protecting families and lives fiercely. 

We are installing seatbelts and creating lifeboats for the exact moment the storm hits.

The next time a financial consultant approaches you, please accept it. 

You would never know that you could be missing the seatbelt for your family too.

Nobody likes being sold to immediately.

And if that's your LinkedIn strategy, you better stop now.

I see it in my DMs every single day.

"Hey Ben, want to double your AUM in 90 days?"
"Looking for more qualified leads?"
"Let me show you our proven system."

Delete. Delete. Delete.

Why?

If you're only DMing people on LinkedIn to pitch your offer, 
you're not building relationships. 

→ You're burning bridges before they're even built.

And for financial advisors? 

This approach will kill your credibility faster than anything else.

Your clients don't buy financial products. 

→They buy trust.
→ They buy confidence that you'll protect their family's future.
→ They buy the belief that you genuinely care about their goals, not just your commission.

When your first interaction is a sales pitch,
It's like you've told them: 
"I don't care about you. I care about what you can do for me."

And in an industry built on trust and long-term relationships? 

That's the fastest way to lose before you even start.

Here's what YOU can do instead:

1) Start with curiosity, not a pitch.

When someone accepts your connection request, 
don't immediately go for the close.

Instead, ask a thoughtful question.

Example:
"I saw you just celebrated 10 years in the industry, what's the biggest shift you've seen in how clients make decisions?"

Show them you're interested in them, not just their wallet.

2) Comment before you DM.

Engage with their content first. 
Add value to their audience.

When you eventually message them, you're not a stranger,
you're someone who already showed up.

3) Share value first.

Lead with something useful:
→ A relevant article
→ A strategy that worked for you
→ A genuine compliment on their post

No pitch. No agenda. Just value.

4) Play the long game.

My best clients didn't come from cold pitches.

They came from months of genuine interaction. 
→ Commenting, sharing insights, offering help with no strings attached.

When they were ready to buy, 
my name already had a place in their mind.

I stopped asking, 
"How can I sell to this person?"

And started asking, 
"How can I serve this person?"

That turned LinkedIn from a cold-calling platform into a relationship-building machine.

Stop selling. 
Start serving. 
And the clients will follow.

DPM Gan warns - "Singapore faces an existential challenge" 

Yep, but it's probably not what he and his colleagues think.

Last year, I met my university friend for dinner. We caught up over work, life, passion, marriage and of course the inevitable...

"Are you both planning to start a family?' 

She told me with a meek smile,

"We are quite happy where we are. We're going to be DINKs" 
(Dual Income, No Kids)

Then came her plans about upcoming road trips, side hustles, passion projects, giving to charity and more.

There was nothing but genuine ease and joy from her. 

Being on the other side of the fence with a toddler, I told her I was happy too for both her and her spouse.

Because nothing's worse than bringing a newborn into this world out of pressure or duty, instead of love. 

She then told me, their decision was not a flippant one.

They both asked themselves some "hard questions":

 → Can we afford to raise a child given the costs of living? 
 → Are our career future resilient to ensure we can put food on the table?
 → Do we want to belabour our parents and make them caregivers again? Or get a stay-in helper as we don't want to compromise our careers?
 → Why do we want to put a newborn through the whole Singapore "rat race" again after all we've gone through?
 → Is Singapore truly... liveable? Can we trust the government to ensure we are taken care of in a world of flux and irrationality? 

Obviously, some may think these questions are just symptoms of "over-thinking".
When our parents got by with 2, 3 or 4 children, they still made it work, right? Why not you? 

But... at what expense? And it's palpable how life in Singapore has dramatically changed from its times in the 90s to now. 

These thoughts have been shared quite commonly among my friends in their late 20s and 30s. 

Interestingly, they are brilliant individuals, highly socio-economically mobile and with amazing careers and life trajectories. 

The birth rate decline in Singapore is indeed an existential challenge to our country's future. 

But also, maybe our ways and means of "existence" in this country are also fraying and being questioned (healthily)? 

Do we just want to exist and get by? 
(Because if that's the assumption, then throwing $10,000 grants to have people make more babies or CDC vouchers may just work in the sort-term.)

And what does it take for us to truly thrive and flourish in the next decades of Singapore? 

Perhaps we need to answer the harder questions and look at the "elephant in the room".

P.s. I don't have the answers or sit on a committee so I'm just off to sit the train and explore Singapore with my kiddo.

Everyone says "engage your audience" when you're speaking on stage.

But nobody really tells you how to own that stage and make it yours.

As someone who used to shake before every presentation,
I've learned a few things the hard way.

Things that turned that fear into something I could actually use.

Here it is.

1/ Ride on Shared Narratives
→ Find common ground fast.

People don't connect with perfection.
They connect with "me too" moments.

👉🏻 I like to open with a story about struggling with something my audience faces too.
👉🏻 Like feeling invisible in a crowded room or doubting whether anyone's listening.

2/ Keep the Energy Up
→ Your energy sets the room's energy.

If you're flat, they're flat.
If you're alive, they lean in.

👉🏻 I move around the stage, vary my tone, and throw in pauses.
👉🏻 It keeps people awake and engaged, even in long sessions.

3/ Speak with Them Before You Speak to Them
→ A little interaction beforehand goes a long way.

I used to hide backstage.
Now I walk the room early.

👉🏻 Before I present, I chat with a few people in the audience, ask about their day, their challenges.
👉🏻 So when I'm on stage, I'm speaking to familiar faces.

4/ Don't Skimp on Preparation
→ Being prepared is your best defense against nerves.

I used to wing it.
I paid for it every time.

👉🏻 I rehearse my opening and closing until I can say them in my sleep.
👉🏻 It gives me confidence even when my mind goes blank mid-speech.

5/ Learn Their World, Speak Their Language
→ Tailor your message to resonate.

Generic talks don't land.
Personalized ones do.

👉🏻 When I speak to financial advisors versus tech founders, I adjust my examples and references to match their daily reality.
👉🏻 Never use a one-size-fits-all script.

6/ Use Your Stories
→ Personal stories make your message unforgettable.

Facts inform.
Stories transform.

👉🏻 Instead of listing my credentials, I share how a kid who got bullied and avoided stages now trains leaders across Asia.
👉🏻 Story sticks more than any resume.

7/ Mirror What You Want to See
→ Project the confidence you want your audience to feel.

If you're uncertain, they'll be uncertain.
If you're grounded, they'll trust you.

👉🏻 If I want my audience to feel calm and confident, I start by being calm and confident myself
👉🏻 Even if I'm nervous inside.

I'm not a natural speaker.

I'm someone who learned through repetition, failure, and intention.

If you apply even one of these,
you'll already be ahead of most people on stage.

You don't need perfect English.
You don't need years of experience.
You just need presence, preparation, and a message that matters.

Formal education won't keep you relevant in this new economy.

I know that sounds harsh. But hear me out.

In 2012, I graduated with an Accounting degree and a poor GPA.

By 2014, I quit my job to become a full-time speaker and coach.

No corporate experience.
No powerful connections. 
A $15 daily budget for food and transport. 

Everyone thought I was crazy.

Fast forward to today:
I've taught over 65,000 leaders across 20+ cities and built a multi-million dollar brand. 

And in all those years?

Not a single client has ever asked about my degree.
Not my university. Not my GPA. Not my certifications.

Yet, I keep hearing the same questions from people I mentor.

"Ben, what degree should I get first?"

I get it.  

It's how most of us were taught to think.

Study hard → Get the paper → Get the job.

→ Storytelling, branding, content strategy... none of these were taught in school. 
→ I learned them by doing the work and failing publicly.

I used to struggle with self-esteem and couldn't even look people in the eye.

But people still say: "You're a natural speaker."


Here's what they don't see.

The kid who got pushed around.
The teenager who ate lunch alone.

That was me.

I see more "fun-employed(s)" on Tiktok these days.

But this got me curious.

"Funemployment" refers to a period of unemployment where individuals, often Gen Z or young professionals choose to enjoy their free time, focusing on self-discovery, travel, hobbies, and wellness rather than immediately rushing into a new job.

My generation calls it.. sabbatical and time for myself and the family, right? 

My parents would call it... retrenchment and depression?

P.s. In case you don't get it at first - 'funemployment' is a composite of 'fun' and 'unemployment'

Nobody cares about your success if they don't know your struggle.

Sounds harsh? 

Here's what most people get wrong about sharing their story:
👉🏻 They only show the highlight reel.

The wins. 
The stage. 
The applause.

But here's the thing.

When people only see the "good," 
they think, "Must be nice for you."

When they see the gap between where you were and where you are now?

💡 That's when they lean in.

That's when they say, 
"If you made it, maybe I can too."

That's not just storytelling. 
→ That's inspiration.

And inspiration only works when there's contrast.

Good vs. not so good. 
Pain vs. where you are today. 
Rock bottom vs. standing tall.

Yet most of us skip the hard part.

We never sit down to map out what we actually went through.

We don't spend the time to reflect, to connect the dots, 
to understand why our past matters for the people in front of us right now.

Your present impresses. 

But your past and your future? 
They inspire.

So stop hiding the messy chapters.

They might be the very thing someone else needs to hear.

→ You don't need a polished story. You need an honest one 
→ One real story does more than 100 slides of information

Your struggles are your teachers.

“How do you become a learning machine?”

I thought of this quote from William Godwin,
 "The philosophy of the wisest man that ever existed,
 is mainly derived from the 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻."

I’ve made it a habit to learn through self-reflection. 🧠
How can I sharpen my own skills?
How can I support my team better?
How can I serve better?

And there is no better time than travelling,
which gives me the space to think. ✈️🌍

I do read as well 📖

Articles, commentaries, and long-reads,
squeezed into short pockets of time.

Knowledge helps me to hold conversations,
and 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

And then there’s social media 👀

This skill didn’t come naturally. 😅

I’m not someone who enjoys taking photos,
being loud, or putting myself front and centre.

It felt like all eyes are on me,
like cameras on the lions yesterday during Lion dance for CNY celebrations. 😂

But through guidance from Benjamin Loh, 
I’ve realised visibility doesn’t have to be loud.

It can be thoughtful and intentional.

𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Even though I just “started” out social media in the past 3 months,
we’ve successfully onboarded a new FA manager and 3 of his consultants.

That said, I can still be awkward..
 Still very much a work in progress😄
But learning, nonetheless.

Over time, a few patterns have stayed with me:
📝 Being busy doesn’t remove the need to learn, it raises the stakes
📝 Reflection turns experience into insight
📝 The better I want to serve, the more intentional I must be about growing

Courage is never about not having fear. 

It's about building anyway.

The people around you? 
They're not waiting for you to be perfect.
👉🏻 They're waiting for you to be courageous enough to keep showing up.

That's what separates the dreamers from the builders.

Not fearlessness.
Just the willingness to move forward despite the fear.
