TMFB's HRCC was formed in 2021 with the purpose of creating focus on developing a meaningful and effective way of developing and monitoring CEO performance. The HRCC supports the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board in this process through ensuring that the process is executed as intended, in a fair and transparent manner that promotes CEO growth and development. The HRCC provides guidance to the Board on organizational HR matters, at a governance level, such as whistleblowing and CEO succession planning. Joanne brings her hands-on experience in developing inclusive HR policies that promote employee learning and development to this committee and centers decisions made on TMFBs values.

Joanne also serves as a member of TMFB's Audit and Finance Committee.

Joanne provided executive leadership to the Finance and Administrative portfolio, including Human Resources, IT and contracts management, at Crossroads International. She facilitated organizational growth (doubling of revenue and FTE globally) through focusing on people, processes and systems. During her tenure, Joanne successfully lead a financial systems conversion, IT server conversion and roll out of a growth-oriented performance management process, as well as developed and implemented global finance and administrative policies and an internal compliance review framework. Joanne supported the financial capacity building of senior leadership and Board members through leading innovative and engaging training sessions. She was the lead of the global diversity and inclusion committee, which steered Crossroads' direction on DEI and anti-racism matters.

Joanne focused on streamlining business processes, while maintaining data integrity, in order to better meet the increasing demand for financial information to support business decision making.

𝙄 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙧𝙚 “𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙.”

Not because they’re not growing—but because their growth isn’t happening fast enough.


We live in a world where you can get almost anything with a few clicks. 
Answers, groceries, entertainment, even “expertise.”
And because everything moves so fast, our expectations have changed too.

We expect ourselves to learn fast.
We expect other people to respond fast.
We expect growth to happen on our timeline.

But real learning doesn’t work like that. 
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱.


I’ve been learning Spanish, and let me tell you… it has been humbling.

Language has never been something I’m naturally good at.
Every sentence is a stretch. Every verb tense is a test of patience.

It’s been a practice in:
- messing up again and again
- staying in my own lane
- not comparing myself to the naturals
- letting myself be a beginner
- and celebrating the tiny wins that don’t look like much from the outside

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯? There is no such thing as “where I should be.”


Slow learning is underrated because it asks something most of us have forgotten how to give—time.

Time to absorb.
Time to evolve.
Time to make a mess.
Time to get it wrong and try again.
Time to let things take the shape they’re meant to take.

And here’s the truth: 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘺.

Things like:
- building trust
- strengthening your nervous system
- healing old patterns
- learning to lead in a new way
- understanding your money
- learning how to love someone well
- or even learning how to love yourself

None of these can be rushed.
Nor should they be.


So if you’re in a season of slow learning—whatever that looks like for you—maybe this is your reminder:

You are not behind.
You’re becoming.
And becoming takes time.
