A veces siento que la palabra 'innovación' se ha vuelto tan gastada que ya nadie sabe qué significa.

Todos la usan, pocos la viven.

Para mí, innovar no es solo lanzar una app nueva o subirse a la nube. Es cuestionar lo que hacemos cada día, aunque funcione. Es preguntarse: ¿por qué seguimos haciendo esto así? ¿Qué pasaría si lo hiciéramos diferente?

En las PYMES, la innovación suele nacer de la necesidad, no del presupuesto. De la urgencia por sobrevivir, no de la moda.

He visto equipos lograr milagros con recursos mínimos, solo porque se atrevieron a desafiar la rutina.

La tecnología ayuda, claro. Pero la verdadera innovación empieza con una pregunta incómoda y la valentía de buscar la respuesta.

¿Sigues pagando a tu equipo para leer currículums y PDFs todo el día?

El reclutamiento tradicional en las PYMES se ha convertido en un cuello de botella administrativo. Publicas una vacante, tu bandeja se inunda con 300 correos, y para cuando tu equipo logra identificar al candidato "estrella", este ya firmó contrato con una empresa más ágil.

El talento no espera, y los procesos manuales te están costando dinero y competitividad.

Desde mi experiencia implementando transformación digital, la IA en reclutamiento no se trata de que un robot contrate a tu gente. Se trata de limpiar el ruido para que los humanos puedan concentrarse en lo importante: la cultura y la conexión personal.

Así es como estamos cambiando el juego con IA y plataformas como VAI:

1. Parsing automático: Adiós a leer uno por uno. La IA detecta en segundos quién cumple realmente con el perfil. Así, tu "top 10" sale basado en datos, no sólo en intuición o cansancio.
2. Chatbots 24/7: Nunca más pierdas a un candidato por falta de seguimiento. El robot responde, agenda y mantiene el interés vivo.
3. Análisis de soft skills: ¿El candidato tiene liderazgo? ¿Comunicación? Herramientas que analizan entrevistas y sacan patrones que el CV jamás te va a mostrar.
4. ATS para todos: Antes, tener un sistema de seguimiento robusto era solo para multinacionales. Hoy, cualquier PYME puede montarlo con un ERP moderno.

Aplicación Práctica:

Deja de usar Excel para llevar tus candidatos. Implementa un ATS (Applicant Tracking System) con capacidades de IA.

Configura un flujo donde la IA haga el primer filtro técnico (¿Sabe Python? ¿Tiene 5 años de experiencia?). Así, tu Gerente de RH llega el lunes por la mañana y, en lugar de revisar 100 correos, tiene 5 entrevistas de alta calidad ya agendadas en su calendario.

La modernización no es opcional si quieres al mejor talento.

Hay una parte de la transformación digital que nunca sale en los casos de éxito: el cansancio.

No hablo solo del equipo de IT, sino de todos. De los que tienen que aprender a usar sistemas nuevos, de los que sienten que pierden el control, de los que extrañan la rutina.

A veces, después de semanas de implementación, el entusiasmo se apaga y queda solo la inercia. Es ahí donde más se necesita liderazgo, pero también empatía. No todo se resuelve con capacitaciones o manuales.

He aprendido que el cambio real no es lineal. Hay avances, retrocesos, días en los que parece que nada funciona. Y, sin embargo, si el equipo siente que vale la pena, siguen adelante.

Quizá la clave está en reconocer el cansancio, no en negarlo. En dar espacio para el error, para la duda, para el fastidio.

Al final, la transformación no es solo tecnológica. Es, sobre todo, humana. Y eso, aunque suene obvio, se olvida con demasiada facilidad.

En América Latina, la palabra "automatización" todavía genera desconfianza en muchas PYMES.

Se piensa que automatizar es reemplazar personas por máquinas. O que solo las grandes empresas pueden permitírselo.

Nada más lejos de la realidad.

Automatizar es liberar tiempo para lo que realmente importa. Es dejar que los sistemas hagan el trabajo repetitivo, para que las personas puedan enfocarse en crear, innovar y resolver problemas.

He visto empresas pequeñas duplicar su productividad solo con automatizaciones simples: facturación electrónica, reportes automáticos, integración de inventarios.

No necesitas un ejército de programadores ni presupuestos millonarios.

Solo necesitas identificar los cuellos de botella y atreverse a dar el primer paso.

La tecnología está más accesible que nunca. Lo que falta es decisión.

¿Vas a seguir haciendo las cosas como siempre, o te animas a probar algo diferente?

A veces, el mayor cambio empieza con una sola automatización.

A veces me detengo a pensar en lo mucho que ha cambiado la forma de trabajar en las pymes en los últimos años. Antes, la tecnología era un lujo. Hoy, es casi una obligación.

Pero esa presión de "ponerse al día" puede ser abrumadora. He visto equipos que se sienten perdidos entre tantas opciones, como si cada nueva herramienta fuera una prueba más que superar.

Lo curioso es que, en medio de tanta innovación, lo que más valoran las personas sigue siendo lo mismo: claridad, apoyo, tiempo para adaptarse. No importa cuán avanzado sea el sistema, si no hay espacio para aprender, el cambio se vuelve una carga.

A veces me frustra ver cómo se subestima el proceso de adaptación. Como si fuera un trámite menor. Pero es ahí donde se define el éxito o el fracaso de cualquier transformación.

Quizá la tecnología no resuelve todo. Pero sí puede darnos la oportunidad de trabajar mejor, si nos damos permiso de ir a nuestro propio ritmo.

Y eso, a veces, es más difícil de aceptar que cualquier nueva función o actualización.

He visto procesos que, en papel, deberían ser simples de digitalizar... y terminan siendo un laberinto. Porque detrás de cada tarea hay personas, costumbres, miedos. Y a veces, una resistencia silenciosa que nadie quiere admitir.

Me sorprende cómo, en medio de tanta tecnología, lo humano sigue siendo el mayor reto. No es la IA, ni el ERP, ni la nube. Es sentarse con el equipo y preguntar: ¿qué te preocupa de este cambio?

A veces la respuesta es tan simple como "no quiero perder mi lugar". Otras veces, ni siquiera hay palabras, solo miradas incómodas.

Supongo que la verdadera innovación empieza cuando dejamos de fingir que todo es fácil. Cuando aceptamos que el cambio duele un poco, pero también libera.

Hoy, más que nunca, creo que la empatía es la herramienta más subestimada en cualquier transformación digital. Y no, no hay software para eso.

Cada vez que una PYME me dice que quiere crecer, la primera pregunta que hago es: ¿cómo tomas decisiones hoy?

La mayoría responde con intuición, experiencia, a veces con datos dispersos en hojas de cálculo.

Pero el crecimiento sostenible no se construye sobre corazonadas. Se construye sobre información real, confiable y oportuna.

Por eso insisto tanto en la importancia de los datos.

No se trata de tener dashboards bonitos. Se trata de transformar la cultura de la empresa para que cada decisión, grande o pequeña, esté respaldada por evidencia.

La diferencia entre una empresa que sobrevive y una que crece está en la calidad de sus decisiones.

Yesterday in Berlin, I was reminded why being here matters.

Not online.
Not through decks.
Not via second-hand introductions.

But in the room.

I attended an exceptional evening at Gründerszene x The Delta Campus, featuring Niklas Östberg, co-founder & CEO of Delivery Hero — one of Europe’s true global champions.

A founder who didn’t just build a unicorn,
but a company operating in 70+ countries, reaching hundreds of millions of users, and creating entire industries along the way.

For me, this was personal.

One of Delivery Hero’s companies, PedidosYa, had a massive impact in Bolivia and across LATAM — creating thousands of direct jobs, enabling income for families, and accelerating the digital economy in the region. (I actually mentioned to Niklas how JP Velasco former country manager run for VP of Bolivia! he was amazed!)

This is what European technology really looks like when it scales globally.

What made the night even more powerful wasn’t just the stage — it was the context.

📍 The Delta Campus
A place I chose as home for my work in Berlin.

Founded by Julian Teicke and Louis, Delta isn’t just a workspace.
It’s a curated ecosystem where founders, operators, investors, and policymakers meet — without paywalls — to learn directly from people who have built at scale.

No ticket.
No exclusivity.
Just real access.

Being able to sit down, ask questions, and personally talk to a founder like Niklas is something that only happens when you’re physically embedded in the ecosystem.

During our conversation, I asked Niklas a question I keep asking European founders:

👉 How do we better showcase the incredible companies being built in Europe — especially to regions like LATAM?

In Latin America, we grow up surrounded by U.S. platforms and brands.
But we barely hear about European giants like:

• Delivery Hero
• Zalando
• HelloFresh
• n8n
• Lovable
• and many others quietly shaping the future

This isn’t a lack of innovation problem.
It’s a bridge problem.

The evening opened with a powerful intervention by Damian Boeselager, co-founder of Volt Europa and Member of the European Parliament — a clear, pragmatic voice on Europe’s future competitiveness, innovation, and integration.

Listening to him, it was impossible not to think:

If Europe wants to build global champions,
it needs fewer silos — and more connection.

Between countries.
Between ecosystems.
Between regions like Europe and LATAM.

That’s exactly why I’m in Berlin.

Being here allows me to do something that’s almost impossible from afar:
• Connect directly with founders building at global scale
• Understand ecosystems from the inside
• Create trust before talking about business
• Build bridges that are human first, scalable second

Last night was another confirmation:

🌍 Berlin is one of the most powerful places in the world to build global connections.

And when you’re here, those connections become accessible, human, and actionable.

Vision doesn’t work through magic — it works through movement.

And every movement begins with one unexpected connection.

I met Maciej Traczyk in September 2023 at the Singularity University camp in Miami — a program that reshaped how I think about networks, abundance, and exponential collaboration.

Since that day, we’ve had monthly conversations.
No agenda. No expectations.
Just two founders exchanging ideas, challenging perspectives, and helping each other grow.

When I arrived in Germany last year, I even flew to Warsaw in February just to visit him.

Very quickly, I understood something important:

👉 Maciej is the kind of connector who changes trajectories quietly, without asking for anything in return.

He has helped founders across Poland, Europe, and the US succeed — many of them without ever knowing he was behind the scenes.

And when he co-authored the INC article (link in the comments) with Keith Ferrazzi (“Never Eat Alone”), something clicked deeply for me:

That’s exactly what Maciej embodies…

His answer was instant:

Last September, it happened.
A full delegation from Keith Ferrazzi’s network walking through Warsaw, meeting founders, connecting ecosystems — exactly as he envisioned it.

Around that same period, I kept seeing one image:

👉 Being in Berlin, connecting European deeptech founders with LATAM superconnectors who can actually help them land real customers and partners.

Today, that vision is no longer a sketch.
It’s turning into structured conversations with government groups, institutions, investors, and founders across Europe — all pointing to one truth:

This idea didn’t emerge from theory.
It emerged from human connection:

because a friend I met through my kid’s school invited me.

just… being in the right city, with the right people, staying open.

inside, we were talking about the jakarta–berlin twin-city relationship, asian ecosystems, how jakarta is building its own version of what berlin was 10 years ago.

and in my head i kept connecting dots:

•⁠ ⁠berlin ↔️ jakarta  
•⁠ ⁠berlin ↔️ são paulo (fresh from COP30 conversations)  
•⁠ ⁠berlin ↔️ santiago (deeptech superconnectors planning our hello tomorrow mission)  
•⁠ ⁠LATAM ↔️ paris (changenow, where we’ll bring a strong latam delegation next march)

different regions, same pattern:

that moment in the embassy reminded me of something founders and funds often underestimate:

…you’re probably missing the biggest asymmetric opportunities.
