The Video Testimonial Guy!

I knowingly made my interview guest cry...

And that was the moment I knew I started Vouch.

In 2023, I felt stuck.
AI was creeping into everything.
And videography? It felt like everyone and their cousin was a professional camera person.

I started thinking maybe I needed to niche into a specific industry.
But when I looked through my books, I realised something:
 
40% of my work was already testimonial videos.
So instead of niching by industry, I decided to niche by format.

Just testimonials. Just stories.

But it was still just a theory... until one moment changed everything.
I was interviewing a business owner.
 
“How did they help you?” I asked.
“They helped with paperwork,” she replied flatly.

I tried again. Asked in a few different ways.

And then she paused.

and then she aggressively said ... “I’m dyslexic! OK?! ”

“Paperwork’s always been a struggle. They helped me build systems so I could actually run my business.”

She looked up, holding back emotion.
 
I glanced at both cameras, knowing full well what was going to happen next... then gently asked:

“How did that make you feel?”

Boom....
Tears.

We didn’t use that clip. It wasn’t the right fit for the final video.

But that moment stayed with me.
Because in just 15 minutes, I’d helped a complete stranger go from guarded to real.

That’s when I realised...
This wasn’t just about making videos.
It was about trust.
And connection.
And helping people tell the story they didn’t even know they had.

That was the moment Vouch was born.
