I recently finished reading Man’s Search for Meaning by Vicktor Frankl 📖

Not an easy read for sure, but it leaves you thinking long after you’ve put it down.

The book shows how finding meaning, even in difficult moments, can be the difference between giving up and moving forward.

But it was this idea that stuck with me: “we don’t choose what happens to us, but we do choose how we respond.”

That holds true in everyday life, and in those moments when things don’t go as planned.

In times like that, what keeps us grounded is purpose, and is the reason why we keep showing up.

True purpose doesn’t always come from big goals or grand visions. Sometimes it’s as simple as knowing that what you do matters to someone, or that it brings you closer to what you value most.

And in the end, meaning is always personal. It’s not something you can copy from others, and it’s not something someone else can give you. We’re responsible for that search, and once we find it, it becomes that quiet engine that keeps us moving.

Lately, it made me think about what drives me, how it’s changed, and how much it still does. Maybe that’s the point: it’s not something you arrive at once, but something you rebuild every day 💭

Those who know me, know I can talk about AI for hours 🤖

Lately, it has become a topic that keeps coming up in conversations with colleagues, client and even friends. But every time, I end up coming back to the same question: “how much of my thinking am I still doing on my own when a tool helps so quickly?”.

I use these tools every day. They help me move faster, organize ideas, and understand topics more deeply. But as they became part of my routine, I started wondering about the role it was beginning to play in my brain.

I’m not a neuroscientist or expert, so I spent some time digging into this for myself. One thing led to another, my excitement won, and I ended up writing a full blog post.

Today, I wanted to share some reflections I got from it:

➞ “Cognitive sedentarism” is already here. Our brain works like a muscle, and when we stop using certain abilities, even the ones that once felt natural begin to weaken.

➞ In adults, the shift happens in judgment. When everything is solved instantly, it’s easy to trust the first answer and overlook the moment where we would normally reflect.

➞ In kids and teens, the effects show up early. They learn by thinking on their own, making mistakes, and trying again. When AI shortcuts replace those moments, the skills they need for the long run don’t fully form.

➞ The good news is we can push back. Simple habits like trying on our own first or pausing to double-check an answer, give us space to think, make mistakes, and stay connected to the process.

Does this mean we need to stop using AI? Not at all. It’s a powerful tool when it builds on our thinking. The real challenge is making sure it amplifies our abilities instead of replacing the effort that sustains them.

There are things that are supposed to be the ABC of leadership 💡

Staying close, giving feedback, being present, for example.

But what I’ve learned over time is that those “basics” hit differently once you realize that leadership looks a bit different for everyone. That’s what made me rethink how I approach it.

I’ve always been the kind of person who likes to take ownership of what I do. If I need help, I ask for it. But first, I like figuring things out on my own.

That naturally shaped my way of leading because I trust others to do the same. Of course I’ll be there when needed, but personally, I prefer giving people room to make their own calls instead of standing over their shoulders.

For some, that kind of freedom works great. Eventually, I realized that for others too much space not only feels like a lack of support, but also starts to feel like being on their own. And that’s when I started to rethink how to stay closer without changing who I am.

One of the things that helped me close that distance is feedback 💬

Not as a way to correct, but to connect. To listen, to share perspectives, and to make sure people feel seen and supported.

The key, for me, is to make it conversational, not a one-sided talk.

I won’t lie, it still takes effort. Starting those conversations doesn’t always come naturally. But I’ve learned that, even when there isn’t much to say, just having them makes a difference. It lets people open up, share what’s going on, and feel you’re right there with them.

If I think about all the challenges that come with this work, learning to balance space with presence has definitely been one of them ⚖️
