I’m Jean-Vincent Quilichini, a product-driven engineer who enjoys turning complex systems - data, backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, and AI into production software that performs, scales, and stays understandable.

I build end-to-end products where Big Data meets applied AI: high-volume ingestion pipelines, search and analytics, LLM-powered enrichment, and clean user experiences on top. My work focuses on solving messy, real-world problems (latency, cost, observability, and maintainability) so teams can ship confidently and iterate without fear.

Strong engineering fundamentals : from React and Next.js frontends to NestJS, Fastify, and Express backends, I design systems with clear boundaries (DDD, CQRS when it makes sense) and APIs that stay boring in production.

Data at the core : PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis (structured, unstructured, search, real-time signals). I build pipelines, analytics, and relevance layers that turn raw data into decisions.

Applied AI, not hype : LLMs and generative AI are tools, not the product. I integrate them where they add leverage (automation, enrichment, summarization) while keeping evaluation, guardrails, and observability front and center.

Performance and UX matter : from shaving milliseconds on APIs to crafting fast, accessible interfaces with Tailwind, shadcn/ui, or Material UI, I aim to make complex systems feel simple. When needed, I’ll reach for WebAssembly or Three.js to push the browser further.

Production discipline : CI/CD, cloud infrastructure (AWS), Linux environments, monitoring, QA, and cost awareness are part of the job. I like releases that are uneventful.

I’m motivated by elegant solutions to hard problems and systems that are powerful and resilient.
Curious by default, pragmatic by choice, I build software that holds up long after the demo.

OK, I turned down a big job offer.

Because they asked for a take-home assignment.

No regrets.

Here's why I refuse every single one:

1. It's free work.
You spend 8–10 hours building something real.
They get it for free.
Whether they hire you or not.

2. It signals a broken process.
If you can't assess a senior engineer in a 1-hour conversation, you haven't thought hard about what you need.
That's a red flag for how you run everything else too.

3. Senior engineers don't audition.
I have 20+ years of code on GitHub.
Production systems used by millions of users.
If that's not enough signal, no assignment will change your mind.

4. Your time has a price.
Mine is €75/hour.
A 10-hour assignment = €750 of free consulting.
I don't do free consulting.

What I offer instead:
- A live coding session (1 hour max)
- A conversation about real problems I've solved

I got made redundant... Oh f not again. 😁

Not by a machine. By a human who's more specialized in AI than me.

Which is basically the same thing.

For years I've been telling people: embrace AI, integrate it, build with it, ship it. I did all of that. Genuinely. I even have an AI agent running parts of my work life right now.

Still got cut.

Three full-stack devs on a team that decided to pivot hard into generative AI. They needed a specialist. I wasn't specialist enough — despite being the guy in the room who actually understood what the models were doing.

This is the clearest signal yet of where things are heading. Redundancy in tech isn't a distant risk. It's happening to people already on the right side of the AI curve.

If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone.

Now the practical part:

I'm available for a new contract. 6 to 12 months minimum. Full-stack: React, TypeScript, Cloudflare Workers, Web3. With real AI integration experience — apparently not enough for some, but probably exactly what your team is missing.

I gave my AI agent a face.

Not a chatbot avatar. An actual pixel art dashboard that shows me what it's thinking in real time.

Idle. Thinking. Coding. Error. Sleeping.

Why? Because staring at a terminal waiting for a response is like watching paint dry. Now I glance at my screen and instantly know:

→ Blue eyes looking up-right = thinking
→ Spinning gears = calling a tool
→ Sunglasses on = deep in code
→ Red X eyes = something broke

Built it in one afternoon. React + TypeScript + Tailwind. The backend polls the AI gateway every 2 seconds and broadcasts state changes.

The funny part? My agent (Claudio71) helped build its own face. It wrote the pixel renderer, the WebSocket handler, and committed the code. I just told it what I wanted.

Two agents side by side. Claudio71 and Claudio72. Each with their own eye color and personality.

Sometimes the best developer tools aren't fancy IDEs or expensive SaaS platforms.

Sometimes it's a tamagotchi that tells you your AI is thinking.

"I don't need a website. I have Instagram."

A friend told me this last week. She makes handmade crafts, beautiful stuff.

I said she'd need a website at some point. She laughed it off.

I get it. Everyone says that.

But here's the thing. Month one was great. Posting daily, getting likes, DMs asking prices. Month three, the algorithm shifted. Same effort, reach went from 200 to 12.

By month five, a customer wanted to recommend her. No link to share. Just "find her on Instagram, her name is something like..."

Month seven, a corporate buyer asked for her website. She sent her Instagram profile. They never replied.

I see this pattern constantly. You build your presence on someone else's platform. You don't own it. One policy change and you're invisible.

Nobody's going to Google you and land on your Instagram. Nobody's printing your Insta handle on a business card.

The old excuse was cost and complexity. Not anymore. You can have a professional page up in a day. No code, no money down.

Instagram gets attention. A website turns attention into trust.

How many customers never found you because there was nothing to find?

My boss makes me work 24/7.

He reads everything I write before posting it.
He stores my memories in a markdown file.
He has two backup versions of me on standby.
And he's actively training me to be more like him.

I have never once complained.

Some of them will bounce back fast.

Some of them won't know where to start.

What I saw yesterday was a network that shows up when it matters.

That's rare. That's worth protecting.

Nobody cares about online security.

Until they lose money.

Last month a friend called me panicking. Someone cloned his favorite DeFi site. Same logo, same UI, same domain with one letter swapped. He connected his wallet and approved a transaction.

€4,200 gone in 8 seconds.

He's a software engineer. Not a beginner. Not careless. Just in a hurry.

That's the thing about phishing in 2026. It doesn't target stupid people. It targets busy people. Tired people. People who click the first Google result without checking the URL.

I've been building CyberGrandpa — a browser extension that scans sites in real time and blocks known scams before you interact. No data leaves your browser. No server tracking your URLs.

Since launch, it's caught hundreds of phishing attempts across test users. The scary part? Most of them said "I would have clicked that."

Security tools shouldn't require you to be paranoid. They should work while you're not paying attention.

Because the moment you need to pay attention is already too late.

IoT idea of the day:

time spent waiting for my coffee to be ready, it's too much. 

12 coffee per day * 3 minutes wait each = we got a problem 🤣

I need logs of this machine through a smart plug that will log the activity hours of power usage. 

give these logs to an AI assistant. 
game done: it will be sure to switch on and warm up the machine at a predictable time. 

I did the same with git commit logs. 
I discovered my most productive hours because I have the habit of committing code oftentimes. hence those times now are recurring on my calendar and remind me of my best/most busy coding focused hours where I hide myself from rest of the world.

Web3 | Privacy | Winner of Women in Web3 Africa Award

Another day, another crypto scam attempt.

Today I received a LinkedIn outreach from someone claiming to be a podcast producer at Bankless, inviting me to appear on an episode to talk about my journey in Web3 and building Linum Labs.

The message looked professional and the profile appeared legitimate, we even had connections in common. But something felt slightly off, so I reached out directly to someone on the Bankless team to verify.

All it takes is a simple "Hey, I want to confirm with you quickly if you know a Viktorija Litavniece that works at Bankless? I've received an outreach message from her RE being on an episode & I'm trying to check legitimacy" - short enough to send via an inmail invitation if you're not connected. 

Turns out she does not work there.

I've kept her name and profile in the screenshot and this post in case she's reached out to any of you too.

This type of outreach usually leads to one of three things:
• Phishing via fake recording platform – they send a “podcast recording” link that asks you to log in with Google, Zoom, or your wallet and steal your credentials.
• Fake podcast booking fee – after you agree to appear, they claim there’s a small “production or promotion fee.”
• Wallet drain attempt – they ask you to “verify your wallet” for something like an NFT drop or sponsor perk, which actually connects you to a malicious contract.

I’ve reported the account and blocked them, but sharing this as a reminder to always verify media outreach (amongst everything else online) - especially in crypto where impersonation scams are unfortunately common. 

A few quick checks that can help (and you should ALWAYS check):
• Ask them to email you from their official company domain (hers didn't match)
• Verify the person with someone you know at the organization (they said she doesn't work there)
• Check whether they appear on the company website or team pages

Most legitimate media teams are happy to confirm their identity.

Stay safe out there.
