Sometimes when I have introduced myself as #TheLinkedInGuru (Teacher) I have jokingly said that GURU stands for "General Understanding, Relatively Useless". Well, I believe GURU stands for "Gets to Uncover the Real Usefulness" instead.

Since I retired at the end of 2007, my focus has been volunteering and devoting my time to being a Professional Networker / LinkedIn Guru (Teacher), teaching Networking and LinkedIn and I have trained thousands of professionals in how to maximize their networking skills and best utilize networking tools.

Networking is the life-blood that feeds the process of building relationships. Networking is important in all aspects of our lives. I believe that LinkedIn is one of the best tools available to help you find the right people, connect with them and build long-term relationships. That's what I do and that's what I can help you do.

#TheLinkedInGuru Employment For Seniors is the premier resource linking mature adults with employment opportunities.  If you are 50 years of age or older, we are here to help you find employment!  If you are a Central Ohio employer, our mature, talented, skilled and dependable job seekers will provide significant value to your organization. 

EFS has provided career assistance and resources to nearly 30,000 clients, free of charge, over the past 40 years.  Our trained volunteer job counselors work with clients, prepare them for their job search, and connect them to employers through our job referral process.   Registration is an easy ½ hour appointment and can be scheduled by calling the EFS office at 614/863-1219.

For several years now I have volunteered my services to EFS as a Professional Networker/LinkedIn Guru and as a trainer focusing on how seniors can use LinkedIn as a tool for networking and job search.  I wholeheartedly support the mission of this fine organization.

According to LinkedIn, I’m a top 5% creator.
A Catalyst.

I don’t create content.

What’s interesting is that 2025 didn’t feel like a big year for how I showed up online.

I was quieter.
More selective.
More protective of my energy.

And yet, the impact didn’t disappear.

I showed up for job seekers.
I met incredible people.
Connections multiplied.
Community still formed.



In case you needed this reminder:

Presence doesn’t require performance.
Influence doesn’t need noise.
And alignment always outperforms algorithms.



Going into 2026, I’m not committing to posting more.

I’m committing to showing up for the people vulnerable enough to ask for help.

I was at the airport last week when I overheard a leader complaining that he “had to” host a virtual holiday party.

UM… excuse me, had to?
Say less, sir 😏

When his call ended, I couldn’t help myself.

I leaned over and said, “Send your team a few ingredients or grab a pre-made kit, then hop on Zoom and make bath or shower bombs together.”

Because with how cranky he sounded in Terminal C…
I can guarantee his team could use some R&R💆‍♀️

So I’m dropping this little gem here for every other leader trying to keep morale high without losing their sanity this season:

Host a DIY Self-Care Party.
🗸 It’s creative.
🗸 It’s easy.
🗸 It smells incredible.
🗸 And everyone ends up relaxed instead of obligated.

Seriously, skip the awkward “Guess Who’s Elf on the Shelf” game.

Give your people something that says, 
“I see you, and I care about your peace.”
