With over 30 years of experience in the media industry, I am a podcast host and a media entrepreneur who is passionate about the future of work, leadership, and innovation. I have founded and led Menlo Creek Media, a company that helps leaders, marketers, and communications professionals navigate and leverage an AI-driven asynchronous world, by offering executive training for podcast hosts and guests, content creation and media library curation and amplification programs, and community development programs.

I also host two podcasts, Work 20XX and Turn the Lens, where I facilitate the spread of best practices, insights, learning, and wisdom on topics that matter to the modern workforce and society. I aim to be a trusted source of information and inspiration for my listeners, by featuring smart and diverse guests, engaging in lively and thoughtful conversations, and sharing nuggets of knowledge. I was blown away when I saw the slide earlier in Pete's keynote. Not enough parameters, the models crap out (a technical term), but push past 7 billion, and the magic happens. Improve on one, improve on all. Pete and the team at Generalist recently announced a 10 billion parameters plus foundational model.

So excited to share this conversation with Pete Florence, Co-Founder and CEO of Generalist. Generalist is another example of the latest round of startups around 'Embodied AI', AI that does things in the environment, among us. Pete has a deep research foundation, and we retraced some of the key moments in getting from the highly specialized world of industrial robots, to the 'every use case is a corner case' of interacting in the physical world outside a pen, to respond to any number of task demands and unforeseen environmental challenges standing between the present, and completing the assigned task.

•	Sales ownership including the identification and targeting of new revenue opportunities and extensive field work as the lead subject matter expert for sales, responsible for delivering virtual and on-site client presentation to existing partners, existing clients, and net new prospects.

Director of Mobile & Partner Development

•	Management of our agency partner program, which we built out by creating successful digital marketing partnerships that were then used to drive co-marketing/net sales opportunities and to decrease customer churn. Top agencies included Ogilvy, Rosetta, Digitas, SapientNitro, VML, imc2, Accenture, Avanade, and Razorfish.
•	Industry trends analysis to develop forward-looking views and a robust action plan around our approach within the agency world. This included creation and maintenance of detailed planning documents (territory mapping, pipeline development, etc…) that were then utilized across multiple departments to drive forward our initiatives with agency partners and co-prospects.
•	Sales lead management and co-ownership of qualified leads generated via our agency/partner channels. Leads were passed to and worked with the senior account executives on our field sales team.

•	Team lead responsible for expansion, coaching, process development/documentation, and training/enablement. Team was grown from three employees to twenty.
•	Dedicated account management and strategic consulting for our largest enterprise clients. Key accounts included Orbitz, New York Times, HSBC, Reuters, Microsoft, Monster, Ingram Micro, Mozilla, Bio-Rad, and Logitech.

•	Management of the twenty person advertising agency startup with my founding partner and COO. Overarching responsibilities were ideation, company direction, staffing, market/competitive analysis, financial forecasting, operating policies/procedures, government filings, and legal contract work/negotiations. 
•	Direct day-to-day ownership of the sales team, including employee training/development, statistical analysis/reporting, and the end-to-end sales process.
