Monroe County Long Term Care Program

Compiled and synthesized research for medicare study on persons with disabilities, in order to build anonymized case studies about patient experiences within the study. Reviewed thousands of cases and built out profiles for senior leadership. The study focused on the use of innovative nurse models of care management designed to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of older persons experiencing multiple chronic conditions (MCC), depression, and disability. This research was related to the Medicare Primary and Consumer-Directed Care Medicare Demonstration (MCPC), an randomized control (RCT) trial conducted across 3 states, providing comprehensive care management to community-dwelling older Medicare beneficiaries (n=1600) who had an existing disability and prior use of healthcare (e.g. hospitalizations). Outcome evaluation of the study favorable health outcomes among participants (e.g., less disability worsening) as well as a reduction in healthcare cost and use. Notably, this trial was one of only 6 studies to achieve less disability among these older persons who were experiencing high levels of health complexity.

Some of my larger companies include Best Buy, Park Nicollet Health Services, Fairview Health Services, Marketing Architects, Young America Corporation, Patterson Dental and Medical, and Carlson.  I've designed large deployments of voice over IP and distributed contact center.  Additionally, I have been instrumental in positioning Unified Communications (both Nortel's own as well as Nortel integrated with Microsoft OCS) at a number of companies.

I work as both a direct touch engineer as well as a providing support for Nortel's channel partners.  Also, throughout the years, I taught classes in Nortel's new technology in order to keep our partners current on product portfolio and marketing programs.

Senior Sales Engineer

I was in software engineering at Nortel for 24 years.  During that time I have held a number of different roles.  I began as a software developer on Northern Telecom’s data processing equipment. From there I moved into programming for a UNIX environment where I did things as diverse as porting the Bell Labs reference code to a Motorola 68020 processor to developing a TCP/IP stack to implementing a Networked File System (NFS).

After a number of years of development I moved into the role of software manager.  At one time I managed a team of about 50 developers and product testers.  In that position I was responsible for delivering TAPI service providers (first and third-party), contact center applications, and unified messaging for Nortel’s CallPilot product.

After managing my team for several years I missed the hands-on excitement of writing code and returned to the role of developer.  This was in the late 1990’s and I immediately jumped into the world of SIP and VoIP.  I was part of the team that delivered Nortel’s SIP-based Multimedia Communications System (MCS).  Accomplishments included extensive work on the MCS soft-client, SIP BBUA call feature development, and the addition of failover functionality to the MCS Session Server.  During this time I was granted six patents in SIP technology.
