A few years ago, I was sitting in a classroom like this - taking notes, overthinking my future, wondering where I would fit in the world of business.

Last week, I stood at the front of one.

The Department of Management Studies at M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous) invited me to speak to the B.B.A. students about Marketing Campaigns using AI and VR.

What struck me wasn’t the technology.

It was the curiosity in the room.

When I was their age, AI felt distant. VR felt experimental. Branding felt like logos and taglines.

Now we’re talking about:

• Personalization at scale
• Immersive experiences
• Campaigns that feel human, not automated
• And why technology should amplify emotion, not replace it

I shared one simple idea with them:

Technology doesn’t build brands.
Resonance does.

AI can analyze patterns.
VR can create immersion.

But if there’s no story… no emotional clarity… no intention behind the campaign - it’s just noise with better graphics.

Walking through the corridors as an alumna felt surreal.

Not because of the title.
Not because of the stage.

But because I remember being a student who was unsure of her path.

There are some places that quietly shape the direction of your life. 

A few years ago, I walked into M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous) as a first-year student pursuing Marketing Management.

Getting into the college itself felt like a proud moment for me. 🥺

I remember walking into the campus for the first time feeling excited, curious, and hopeful about the journey ahead.

At that time, I had no idea how much those years would shape my thinking.

Marketing was not just a subject we studied in classrooms. It slowly became the foundation of how I understand business, people, communication, and ideas.

Many of the principles I apply in my work today trace back to those early learnings.

Last week, I had the privilege of returning to campus for the 𝗕𝗶-𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 and receiving the 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱.

Standing on that stage felt like a full-circle moment.

Not just because of the recognition, but because it brought back memories of where the journey began.

What makes this even more special is the continued support from the institution even years after graduation.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr.Nisha Udayshankar ma’am, whose belief and kindness have always been deeply motivating for me. 🙏♥️

The alumni community, the encouragement from faculty, and the warmth with which the college stays connected with its students truly makes it feel like more than just a place of education.

Entrepreneurship has a way of refining you.

In the beginning, you think it is about ideas, execution, visibility, and momentum. Over time, you realise it is far more internal than external.

It is about standards.

As you grow, the excitement of “more” slowly turns into the discipline of “right.” Not every opportunity is aligned. Not every collaboration is strategic. Not every introduction needs to become a partnership.

Building a business teaches you discernment.

It becomes less about how many doors open and more about which ones deserve your energy.

There is a quiet strength in slowing down before committing projects. In asking better questions. In defining expectations clearly. In choosing long term integrity over short term momentum.

Entrepreneurship is not just about scaling revenue. It is about scaling judgment.

It asks you to stay open yet grounded. Visionary yet practical. Warm yet boundaried.

The real growth happens when you stop proving and start protecting. Protecting your time. Protecting your focus. Protecting the culture you are building. Protecting the standard you want your name associated with..

Because at the end of the day, a business is not just a vehicle for income. It is an extension of your values. 

And that is something worth building slowly.

I failed.

Not because I wasn’t capable.

Not because I lacked skills.

For a long time, I watched people with half the depth position themselves twice as big.

And I kept thinking, “It’s okay. I know what I bring.” 

The truth?
The world doesn’t reward hidden excellence.
It rewards visible clarity.

Humility in marketing does not mean shrinking.
It means telling the truth about your value without ego, without exaggeration, without noise. 🙏
