My story in a nutshell:

- Hi-tech and science is what drives me since childhood and I believe it can make the world a better place (am I naive ☮️ ✌🏾?)
- I learnt a lot about innovation & new business development through  10 years in strategy consulting, and innovation centres of multinationals 🌎
- But I realised i still knew nothing when I founded my own startup, Cyclopus back in 2018. Building an innovative and successful product is tough ! 🔨🤯
- Since then, I decided to focus on Sales & Business development to help hi-tech startups reach product/market fit and grow their client portfolio

📈 since 2019, as a Senior Account Executive at Linkurious (50p fintech), I played a pivotal role in the company's transformation. From 2021, I was Sales Team Leader to launch the outbound channel and transform direct sales.

End of 2023 I've had hit pause on my career ⏸️ for a few months to deal with a personal event. Today I look for the next opportunity to help tech startups (pre series A/B) grow their business in France / UK / Spain (EMEA).

I’ve spent 20+ years in sales and revenue leadership, personally closed over $750,000,000 in closed sales across service businesses, consulting firms, and founder-led teams.

If your contribution to modern life includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, you’d think people might remember your name. Inventing while woman amirite?! This week’s episode of #womendoingcoolshitwhilenoonewaswatching belongs to Hedy Lamarr.

It’s 1941.
Swing music is everywhere.
The war is escalating in Europe.
Women are largely being told their most strategic life decision is which shade of red lipstick to wear while waiting for a man to come home from the front.

Meanwhile, in Hollywood, a woman the tabloids insist on calling 'the most beautiful woman in the world' is sitting at a piano with a composer…trying to solve a military problem. As one does. 

Before the glamour shots and movie premieres, Hedy Lamarr had grown up in Austria. Her father explained how machines worked during long walks through Vienna. Hedy paid close attention, which becomes relevant later in life, because during WWII the Allies had a serious issue: radio-guided torpedoes could be jammed.

If the enemy intercepted the signal, the torpedo could be redirected or rendered useless. Not ideal if your job is sinking Nazi submarines. Hedy Lamarr and composer George Antheil proposed a solution: frequency-hopping spread spectrum.

The idea was simple and wildly clever. Instead of sending a signal on one radio frequency, the signal would rapidly hop between multiple frequencies, synchronized between the transmitter and receiver. If an enemy tried to jam the signal…they’d be chasing ghosts across the radio spectrum.

The U.S. Navy looked at this idea from a movie star and a pianist and essentially said: “Cute.” Filed the patent away and ignored it. Which was a loser play as frequency-hopping spread spectrum turned out to be extremely useful.

Today it’s foundational to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

Meaning the reason your phone connects to the internet while you’re sitting in a coffee shop arguing with strangers on LinkedIn…is partly because a woman Hollywood mostly valued for her cheekbones got bored and started solving signal-jamming problems during WWII.

History tends to file women like this under 'interesting anecdote' instead of 'architect of the modern world.' But every time your phone jumps onto Wi-Fi at a coffeeshop so you can argue with a bot on #LinkedIn, you’re using her idea.

• I once won a bench press competition for lifting 30% of my bodyweight. Listen, I didn’t make the rules. I barely observed them. But I won…and I don’t tend to run my mouth after I’ve won something.
• In my 20s I was briefly recruited to try out for the Canadian national rowing team.
• I was an extra in a made-for-TV movie starring Marcia Gay Harden about a group of wildly promiscuous teenagers.

If you have a Patagonia-wearing PE bro nearby, tell him I said shut up…we’re going to the dark side for a minute.

Picture this:
You start your day with a visit to the same dentist you've been tolerating for the past 15 years…except today’s visit includes three new charges that were never discussed, and the receptionist — who used to be the town’s single source of truth for gossip — is now following a laminated script.

Weird. But you persevere.

Next stop: the vet. You’re taking Skeeeeeeper (Skipper with a Brazilian accent) because he’s a 15-year-old Yorkie, mostly blind, partially deaf, and needs his meds. Except now the clinic is offering a “wellness membership,” and you had to make the appointment through their online portal WHICH NEVER FCKING WORKS.

Irritating. But you’re a resilient SOB, so you press on.

Then you get home and see an email from your property managers. It’s no longer a post-it from Sandra in Unit 3. It’s a formal notice from Northgate Capital informing you of a rent increase.

And then it hits you: we’re living in Private Equity’s world…but we don't have to be a Private Equity girl.

See, the PE bros have effectively hijacked the public imagination about what growth looks like and what it requires. They’ve given us one wildly inaccurate model. Kinda like how porn has deluded the masses about female anatomy and desire…but that’s a conversation for office hours, mmmkay.

In these conversations the pursuit is always the same:
higher prices + leaner staffing + more aggressive monetization

Which all sounds very logical. But to what end? I know what you're thinking: Wow T, groundbreaking journalism.

And you're right. None of this is exactly new information. I just want us to know that we can refuse to accept that this is simply how things *have* to work.
That extraction is the natural endpoint of growth.

I am not anti-system or anti-profit. Grow up. But there’s a difference between architecture that extracts growth and architecture that promotes it.
One treats a company like a resource to be strip-mined before the exit.
The other — the kind of revenue architecture I build for companies — assumes you’ll still be here in ten years. Serving the same customers, employing the same people, operating inside the same community.

Both make money.
But only one isn’t designed by a Patagonia-vest-wearing PE bro with impeccable financial modeling and absolutely zero lived experience or, ahem, stamina. 

I'm curious what egregious examples of PE firms taking over your beloved spots you have?

Most deals don’t die in a blaze of glory. They die like a houseplant you forgot to water: slowly and without fanfare or obvious signals.

Momentum fades. Doubt creeps in...the status quo starts looking oddly comfortable again. In this video from a client call while I joke about it — someone hands me a coffee and I flash a smile (their reward for good behaviour 😉). But that’s actually the point. In sales, we should reward buyer behaviour the same way.
Every step forward gets a small reward: clarity, momentum, information.

Examples:
Buyer books discovery → send a short agenda so they know what to expect
Buyer shows up to discovery → send 2–3 insights you heard in the conversation
Buyer asks for a proposal → explain what it will include and when it’s coming
Buyer receives the proposal → tell them how to evaluate it
Buyer leans in → clarify the decision path and next steps
Buyer says yes → immediately show what happens next

Don't leave buyers guessing...or languishing in uncertainty. I legit see more deals die because momentum was treated as an afterthought vs because someone along the chain said no.
