I'm the Managing Director and co-founder of Filament, a digital agency specialising in Go-to-Market strategy and partner marketing for B2B tech companies and vendor channel programs.

From keywords to context, AI is completely reshaping compliance in regulated industries like financial services.

In this Tech Exec Insights conversation, Sreekanth Sreevalsam, VP of ANZ at ASC Technologies, shared something that really stuck with me:

“Compliance is evolving from a list of words to understanding behaviours in context.”

Traditionally, compliance teams relied on lexicons and keyword spotting, scanning for words like “guarantee” or “front run” to detect risk.

But as Sree points out, people don’t speak in compliance dictionaries anymore. We use slang, emojis, sarcasm, shorthand, and AI is now able to interpret intent, roles, and relationships within the conversation.

That’s a pretty full-on shift.

It means compliance teams can move from reactive keyword chasing to proactive risk understanding, powered by contextual AI that knows who’s speaking, to whom, and why it matters.

It’s a fascinating evolution that’s redefining what “compliance monitoring” even means in 2025.

When MSPs help clients uncover why customers churn, how sales teams perform, or where service quality drops, they’re no longer just keeping systems running — they’re driving insight, strategy, and growth.

Value problem

In this clip from my Tech Exec Insights conversation with Derek Morgan from Referral Marketing Ideas, he challenges a common referral incentivisation belief with: 

More rewards or bigger commissions don't magically make partners refer.

“Forget incentives. Swap out the word incentive for the word value. What is your value proposition to the person you want to refer — and is that value actually important to them?”

It’s such a clear and uncomfortable truth.

If your partners aren’t referring, your offer probably doesn’t align with what they care about. 

Or you're not leading with value, or not providing meaningful value to your partners.

When you tie your value proposition to what matters most in their business, 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒, they take you to market every day.

The world of SaaS sales and sales leadership has been kind to me.

I began my journey in SAP's sales graduate program in London in 2008 and haven't looked back since.

A passion of mine has always been traveling, and I've been fortunate to do so while working with multiple startup and scale-up SaaS vendors. Over the past 15 years, my career has taken me across the globe, with business ventures in the UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Spain, Israel, Dubai, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Canada, and the USA. I’ve also attended Presidents Clubs in the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Vanuatu, and Indonesia.

At 28, I was transferred to Australia to become the Regional Sales Manager for N-able (SolarWinds), but one of my proudest career moments came when I was given the opportunity to launch Datto in Australia as their first feet on the ground. I built the GTM team and eventually grew into the VP of Sales for the region.

After an amazing journey filled with fond (and some foggy!) memories, I decided to step away from the corporate world and establish Bluebird APAC – a SaaS GTM Executive Search and recruitment company.

Our mission is to help emerging startup and scale-up SaaS businesses build their foundational teams, while simultaneously helping rising sales leaders land their dream roles – roles that will bring them the same fulfilment and joy I've experienced in my career.
