From keywords to context, AI is completely reshaping compliance in regulated industries like financial services.

In this Tech Exec Insights conversation, Sreekanth Sreevalsam, VP of ANZ at ASC Technologies, shared something that really stuck with me:

“Compliance is evolving from a list of words to understanding behaviours in context.”

Traditionally, compliance teams relied on lexicons and keyword spotting, scanning for words like “guarantee” or “front run” to detect risk.

But as Sree points out, people don’t speak in compliance dictionaries anymore. We use slang, emojis, sarcasm, shorthand, and AI is now able to interpret intent, roles, and relationships within the conversation.

That’s a pretty full-on shift.

It means compliance teams can move from reactive keyword chasing to proactive risk understanding, powered by contextual AI that knows who’s speaking, to whom, and why it matters.

It’s a fascinating evolution that’s redefining what “compliance monitoring” even means in 2025.

Value problem

In this clip from my Tech Exec Insights conversation with Derek Morgan from Referral Marketing Ideas, he challenges a common referral incentivisation belief with: 

More rewards or bigger commissions don't magically make partners refer.

“Forget incentives. Swap out the word incentive for the word value. What is your value proposition to the person you want to refer — and is that value actually important to them?”

It’s such a clear and uncomfortable truth.

If your partners aren’t referring, your offer probably doesn’t align with what they care about. 

Or you're not leading with value, or not providing meaningful value to your partners.

Been thinking, is it okay to use AI to create content?

And for me the answer isn’t black or white.

AI is a tool, like any other software we use to get work done faster. 
The ethics come down to how we use it:

Are we letting people know when AI helped out, when it matters?

Are we double-checking that it’s accurate and original?

Are we using AI to make our work better, or just to skip thinking?

For example, in software, AI can generate code snippets, documentation, or design suggestions. That’s fine, as long as there’s someone experienced reviewing, testing, and adapting it. 

The same principle applies to content.
In my view, we cross the line with AI when it hides who’s responsible, misleads people, or replaces actual human judgment. Used the right way, it’s a huge time-saver. Used the wrong way, it just kills trust.

So, my take: AI works best when you’re thoughtful about its impact. 
When you use it as a helper, not a replacement.

When a bank hides lemons in its app 🍋

monobank.com, a Ukrainian digital bank, just launched a massive hunt for lemons.

You open the app, and somewhere between your account balance and cashback section, there are tiny lemons waiting to be found.

If you collect at least 10, you join the lottery.
Find 50 and you’re in for the bigger prizes.

At first, it sounds fun (and it is). 
But I can’t stop thinking about what this campaign reveals beyond the hype.

Here are a few things that caught my attention:

🍋 Gamification works. Not just for engagement, but for brand love. People are talking about a bank like it’s a video game. That’s wild.

🍋 Unintentional design testing. I ended up on pages I didn’t even know existed. It’s a brilliant (and probably unplanned) way to get users to explore and stress-test your UX.

🍋 Tech stress test. But here’s the flip side: users are complaining about outages and delays. Which makes me wonder:

Is it acceptable for a digital bank with 10 million users to be temporarily down because of a gamified campaign?
 
Or is it just proof that even the best infrastructure can buckle under the weight of viral success?

Either way, it’s a fascinating example of how marketing, design, and tech collide in one moment, and how even something as small as a lemon can test the entire system.

Remember when your influencer platform felt easy to manage? Yeah, that feeling disappears fast. 😅

At first, managing a few creators and campaigns seems fine. Then suddenly the numbers explode, your dashboard looks like a spaghetti bowl of stats, and everything starts to get messy. 

Onboarding hundreds of influencers, keeping up with compliance, handling payments, answering messages…it all piles up fast.

Add to that the pressure of keeping the platform stable as traffic spikes, while brands still expect personalized insights and recommendations. 

You try automating repetitive stuff, but marketers still want control. 
Nightmare.

And the biggest trap in scaling is believing your current software can simply grow with you. 

Often, you're just turning  a small design flaw into a full-blown operational crisis.

But it doesn’t have to stay a total mess. And no, throwing more people at the problem won’t help. 
Making the software smarter will.

A few workflow tweaks, some automation in the right places, and a platform that can actually handle the growth makes everything run way smoother. 

Faster, more reliable, and less stressful for everyone.

Just think about it.
